  • Since I run both at home (on weekends and on the days I work from home) and also run on the days I'm in the office, I have a pair for home and a pair for the office. I have other pairs also because once they start getting worn out a bit, I use them for when I'm on the elliptical or biking. So, I have a LOT of running shoes…

  • I have a friend that thought the Neil Diamond song was "Reverend Blue Jeans" and couldn't figure out why he'd be singing about a pastor. Another friend thought that in the the Sound of Music song they were singing "Tea, a drink with German Bread" instead of "Tea, a drink with jam and bread." My goofed up lyric was from…
  • I am currently using Saucony Glide 7s and they are working great. It's a stability type shoe. I've worn Sauconys for years...lots of room in the toe box. I've had success with Brooks and Asics also but seem to always go back to Saucony. I did not like Nike so much, but I have only tried a couple pair in that brand.
  • I'm fortunate to have a small gym and locker room in the downstairs of our building where I work, so I always use my lunch break to exercise (run outside or use the treadmills/stair steppers/elliptical). In my previous job (and before kids!) I got up at 4:30 am so that I could go to the gym before work. I have found it is…
  • This is really good - Cilantro Lime Chicken with Avocado Salsa - I made it with brown rice: http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/cilantro-lime-chicken-with-avocado-salsa-10000001886432/
  • Way to go!
  • I would get the size you are now and have them take it in if necessary. Many years ago at my wedding, the day before wedding, the out of town bridesmaid tried her dress on for the first time - she had sent proper measurements, and I think the shop messed up. The dress couldn't even come close to being zipped (and the…
  • Biked 135 minutes, 12-14 mph, went over 26 miles.
  • Had a healthy breakfast of bran flakes and almond milk and then ran 10 miles and had just a turkey sandwich and fruit for lunch...but then it went south the rest of the day. Potlucks and BEER are killers! We did have salmon and steak instead of brats/hot dogs but did I really need all of the other crap too?? Had a healthy…
  • I have had two miscarriages - both after the birth of my first child (she is almost 19). I did not have the issues you seem to be having; I did not have to take medication and did not have to have D&Cs. I miscarried both times at about 10 weeks. I DID go on to have another child (he's almost 15) so it has been quite a few…
  • I bought and read the book upon recommendation of a friend - not sure why, as I do not have any health issues at all and no gluten type issues either. There is no way I could stick to something like that long-term...it is really complex and seems like a lot of work. I'd likely have a different opinion if my health depended…

  • I don't have health or sodium issues, and am not overweight, but I retain water SO easily also. I don't even eat lots of things super high in sodium and I always exercise, yet I can tell that I retain water after I do have that kind of food or have booze. I can even feel it in my fingers, especially in the summer. It takes…
  • You should be able to find Bodyglide at a sporting goods store, such as Sportsmart. I love that stuff...I sometimes have to put it on my feet for running or where the shorts might rub when doing a race. I think it works great, and it doesn't rub off quickly.
  • Gum cracking/snapping....hate it!
  • I know you don't have a lot of time left before the race, but I too would recommend trying to get an early morning run or runs in since your race will be in the morning. That way, you can see what might work for eating prior to the run if you'd like to get some fuel in you and just generally how you'll feel in doing a run…
  • I'm 5'5", 52 yrs old, and initially set out to lose 10 lbs to get to 130. I joined MFP in early Feb. I reached that first goal, was not satisfied with how I looked, set another goal at 127, finally got to that (was stuck around there for 2-3 weeks)...still wanted to try to get a little more off my gut and thighs...set new…
  • I don't track sleep, but I can tell you that I don't get much sleep at all. A really good night of sleep for me is 6 hours. I often get 5 or less. I don't have trouble falling asleep but I often wake up (not due to snoring or apnea or whatever). I think it is somehow a genetic thing as my mom had the problem, my brother…

  • I am a runner....I run 4-5 days a week and alternate with other aerobic activities, such as biking or the elliptical. I run several races each year - usually just the longer ones....2 different 10-mile races, and then last year I ran my first half-marathon in August and a second one in October. I'd like to do a couple of…
  • I didn't care much for Twinkies when I was a kid, but LOVED Ding Dongs, HO HOs, and Little Debbie's Swiss Rolls, and because I was a picky eater, I brought my lunch to school almost every day in elementary school and had one or the other of those in my lunch every day. I had a Swiss Roll several months ago, and they just…
  • It is so interesting to see all the different sizes ladies are at with all different weights. I believe have a medium frame - there is nothing petite about my big clunky bones! I am 5'5", age 52, weigh 128 and wear size 2 or 4 in pants, shorts, and dresses. I hate my thighs too but usually can still fit into those sizes.

  • That's great! Running longer distances or for longer time periods will continue to get easier and you've already reached a milestone.
