and sorry if that sounds outright snarky - I'm looking for help, and looking to understand why I eat as a habit/event/when I'm not doing things. Trying to just go do things clearly hasn't worked for me. I'm also recovering from a very tough bit of time, and have a *lot* of free time. So when I don't have energy to resist…

this is probably true - probably is a habit. I usually don't eat while I'm working (my brain is fully engaged) but I definitely eat when I take breaks. Maybe when I'm here without being fully engaged, my brain thinks I'm resting, which goes with eating. As this is the 2nd 'drink water!' recommendation, I think I'll try to…

yeah, uh, that was actually my question, what do other people do?
-
Yeah, sadly It's all definitely in my head; I *know* I'm not hungry. It's just getting through that feeling that's the hard part. Thanks for the tips, I'll try to get some water and wait at least 15 minutes next time... maybe if I just think I'm postponing a snack!
-
Well there isn't any rule. I'm just home all day, and just can't eat all day.
-
Haha well maybe now that it's Sunday you'll get some replies. I'm in the process of losing the muffin top, my trainer says a lot of cardio will help, but eating right is 60% of this goal, too. I started eating apples and bananas for snacks, so it's helping!! maybe some other people can post before/afters ;)

I've been trying to find the same thing, and googled this question! I'll let you know what I find if I find something!

OK writing back to this, 2 weeks later! Booya. I've had almost 2 weeks in a row of eating dinner I cook at home, including a lot more fruits and veggies. Still going. Lost about 3 pounds already. I need to lose a lot more, so if I just keep this going, I'll probably be done by July around this time. That seems like a long…

actually a bit of straight up easy cardio, like walking for a bit, or doing a light bit of elliptical usually makes me feel better. i get all tight in my muscles, so this seems to loosen me up a bit, and it feels a bit better. that and a couple aspirin or something is probably all i ever do. otherwise i usually just wait…

started at 195 (after losing weight for a bit, never measured myself at my highest) currently 175-180 goal 145-150 My best, fantastic, strongest ever body was about 145. I was smokin hot and fit almost in size 4 jeans. Yeah, tall and thin, but strong. Looking to get back there somehow.

totally caved. 3 of those really little mini pieces at work, and i just had 5 pieces of candy here at home. d'oh.
-
well this is a good start. i think it's tough to realize you don't need *them* to necessarily do this, but you do need help. chin up. first step of many. i don't know if i'm the right motivator for you, but good job starting your own process, independent of your boyfriend.

Honestly I just started by putting in 25 min of general circuit training. That being said, I've actually lost more weight than MFP says I should have, so i'm guessing it's actually more, depending on how tough you are already/how heavy you are. I'm on day 12 today. I can do full-on pushups and deep lunges, so I thought I…

try some caffeine-free (not diet) coke or ginger ale... fizzy, it has some sugars to keep your body getting some sugars, and will feel good. it helps me EVERY time i ever get sick. I had really bad food poisoning once, and coke was the only thing I could keep down. made me feel a LOT better. *edit* I should say I NEVER…

but weight is already mass times gravity, so you don't multiply it again.
-
i'm not a scientist, but I'm pretty sure you have your physics wrong. weight is not mass. this is a succinct explanation from wikipedia: "On the surface of the Earth, the acceleration due to gravity (the "strength of gravity") is approximately constant; this means that the ratio of the weight force of a motionless object…

I'm a *night* person. I hate getting up early. Hell, I hate getting up on time, let alone early. What I've found is working for me lately is not going to the gym, but doing a workout video in the a.m. at home. It takes less time than the gym, no commuting time between work and home, and I shower in my *own* shower. When I…

Congratulations!! I'm a few pounds down from my heaviest, and this year I've re-started my MPF journey. 16 months DOES seem like a long time now, but I'm hoping I can get through it, and it'll be easier when I'm there. :) Also your ticker image is hilarous. Seriously.

I've been fighting with these feelings too. My mom got cancer, my mom died, my grandma died when my mom was in the hospital for surgeries, a bit later my mom died, then my cat (who was all I had left) died too. It was all within about 14 months. I did *not* know which way was up, where to turn, or who would even…

bebe - bcbg max azria - and everywhere else that has something cute. also looking fwd to an anthro dress I bought when i was a size 6/8... annnd haven't worn since.

well, for ME (can't speak for the original poster) it's because you can see *ALL* of my veins in my legs. And I look fatter, just because I'm super pale. you know how wearing black makes you look slimmer? well, white makes you look larger. And uh, talk about white. That's me. So it's both unflattering, and fattening…
-
I'm wondering this too. I'm suuuuuper pale, and just burn if i go outside... so pretty much I'm condemned to walk around all veiny and translucent.

Yep - my regular work day is a 10 hour day. All just sitting. When we're on crunch mode, work is 12+ hours a day. When it's in crunch mode, it's either working one or two weekend days also. During OT, they buy us dinner. When it's really stressfully close to a deadline, they bring in lunch AND dinner. So completely…

I was totally just upset today, and cried at the gym. Hasn't happened very often. I was just on some kind of edge, and the thought of making my day harder was too much. then I went up there on the elliptical anyway. Hahah UGH. Just keep going!!!

SO For those of you who haven't watched a parent die of cancer, here's a primer on the diet challenges I faced: You're in a hospital after lunch/dinner hours, they only have vending machines. You're back and forth from the hospital to relative's houses, and to the house of your parent(s) who is sick. that is, you're around…

OMG I can't. I eat ~1800ish on comfortably 'low' days. When I excercise is the ONLY time I ever lose weight. I do not know how people just eat salad!!!!!
-
I *really* miss having pets. They bring so much joy and calming natures into one's life. My cat died right after my mom died. I've been back and forth across the country for the estate so I haven't been able to get a new pet and **I SO MISS THEM**

I work crazy crazy hours and sometimes they provide food for us, sometimes lunch and dinner. It is almost impossible to resist free food - even when it's all the crap pasta and sauces and cheap carbs filled with huge calorie hits. Ugh. My solution is still to try to stay eating my own foods. My biggest problem is that I…

Don't talk yourself out of it!! To be quite clear, you took the first step already of saying "I think this is going to be hard." Now, the next step is realizing that is as hard as it will ever be!! Really think about it - you're taking the emotional hit of being afraid at people at the gym without EVEN being there. Don't…

thanks all :)
