Personally, I see inches as the main goal to lose and the number on the scale seems to follow that. Some weeks, I'll not lose any weight but when I measure myself, I'll be pleased to find out I've lost half an inch there and another inch somewhere else and it makes you realise you're still losing fat even if you aren't…

Beautiful :) Well done on your loss!

There's quite a few exercises on this site that are listed under cardio. The calories always seem to be a little high though so just eat back like 50-75% of your exercise calories. As for your activity level, I'd say walking around for 8 hours a day and always being on your feet would put you as active. Lightly active is…

Generally, I find it's best to weigh yourself in the morning after waking up. If you consistently weigh yourself at the same time say every week or so, then your weight won't fluctuate as much. Like you said there, your weight changed 5.7lbs in one night.

I'm on about a 7000 calorie a week deficit if I eat 3000 a day.
-
Thanks dude :) I might give it a try. I guess I kinda already do that except on weeks where I go more than 4 times. Then I'll just end up doing 2-4 cardio sessions and 1-2 strength sessions for that week or 8-day period.

It looks like a good idea then to up my protein and do more lifting. That seems to be the general consensus anyway.

There is no miracle food that will make you lose weight because you ate it. If you like dark chocolate, eat it as long as you're still in a deficit.

I love bread. I sometimes pick up a baguette from morrisons or sainsbury's to snack for my lunch.

Personally, I think BMI is a load of bs. If you're happy with the way you LOOK and FEEL, the number shouldn't matter. I'm 5"10 and currently weigh 251 lbs. My goal is 210. According to a BMI chart, I need to be <170 lbs to be "healthy". Yet, I have 180 lbs of lean body mass. I could be 180 lbs with 0% fat (which would…

I was doing cardio for the first 3 weeks of me starting to go the gym. Now, I've replaced 2 of my cardio sessions a week with weight lifting sessions to help maintain muscle mass as I lose.

Feel free to add me. I try and encourage other people :) Just don't look at my diary if you get jealous easily XD

Beat my personal best time at running 5k again today :)

I'd just weigh them in their entirety to be honest. Underestimate your exercise on here and overestimate your foods. It'll help for when there are inconsistencies in certain foods or your exercises.

I'm pretty overweight and regularly go to the gym. Often people won't pay attention to me and just go about their own workouts while I work out as usual.
-
Being overweight merely increases the CHANCE of health problems occurring. It's been proven that losing weight has loads of health benefits but it's not impossible to lead a healthy life while still being overweight. This is personally why I'm trying to lose weight now. I'm only in my 20's and feel fine at the moment even…

I can imagine if you're in a deficit now, you'll instantly gain 5 lbs of water weight within a week as soon as you start eating at maintenance or higher. If your weight stays at around the +5lb mark for the entire week, then you're netting your maintenance goal for that week. As soon as you start eating at a deficit again…

3 lbs down this week and another half an inch off my waist and hips

I think it depends on what the criticism is about. I can take advice but when people are just pointing out things that are wrong with you for the sake of it, that's when it bothers me.
-
Yeah. I was just thinking of it from a different point of view when I made this. Like some people have this attitude of "why bother exercising if you're not gonna eat healthily to make the weight drop off quicker" or something along those lines. I agree though, exercise doesn't just burn calories. It improves your fitness,…

I've been doing 5km's on the treadmill recently when I go to the gym on top of my usual routine of climbing stairs, walking uphill and rowing (on top of some weight training) and I'm trying to work on getting my time to below 30 mins (10km/hr or roughly 6.5mph average). My PB so far is 33:40 and my jogging pace is 6mph…

If you've just started exercising, pay attention to your measurements as well. I know 2 weeks isn't a lot of time but you'll be surprised sometimes when your weight doesn't change but you've lost half an inch off your waist.
-
Yeah. :) Even when the weight loss does eventually stop, I'll still be in pretty good shape. I mean, I'm 254 lbs atm and jogging 5km like 3-5 times a week. It's definitely improved my fitness a hell of a lot.

I think it depends on how hard I push myself at the gym on that given day and if I had a rest day the day before that. I feel energetic after my first gym session after a rest day, but for the days after that, I gradually become more and more tired. It also depends if I'm at work that night or not. Work can tire me out…
