I would like to just take off and run... but I have injuries from an old motorcycle accident and have had a couple back and hip surgeries. After coming off a surgery and losing a significant amount of weight last year, I was hoping to go from walking (18 months ago I was using a cane) to running a 5k this year, hasn't…

A friend of mine just had the same thing happen, she dumped it. she used fresh venison bones. I wanted to try this again...

If no injuries/joint issues - vary your exercise routine - switch it up, it's easy to get bored. Ideally you have some different activities you can integrate into your life/friends. Hiking/Biking/Skiing etc... There are endless debates here on some of the nutritional aspects of certain diets. But personally I feel much…

I regularly get beef soup-bones - they are cheap - using them for soup/stews. But I just recently heard about this 'bone broth'. I'm not sure what the difference is?

Depends on over all condition and if there injuries or any other factors. Certainly walking, some stretching and simple floor exercise is a start. if you can easily do that then go for more... good luck !

Turning off the lights and closing the shades.... there is no candy here. would have to give them carrots, rutabaga and kale...

Went to Madison Symphony a month back or so, saw/hear the Firebird - one of my favorites.

I do all or most of my cooking and prep on the weekends, I bought a bunch of new rubbermaid containers and they are just fine in the fridge through the workweek. I pre-make my salads except for things that get 'mushy' like cucumbers and tomatoes.

I wouldn't say I'm 'all in' with the Paleo Diet, although i've been reading alot about it and like to hear what people are doing with it. I've come off a VLCD program and trying to figure out what works best for me. I'd like to lose a bit more, but also want to feel better. Now I'm trying to get more protein less carbs. I…

If you are on any very low calorie program(sub 1200), your metabolism will be suppressed for an extended period of time (years and some say will never go back). Even a year later my dietitian tells me to subtract 20 percent of the normal calorie goal calculations: so my calorie target is in the 1500's not the 1800 as it…

Is that the company that has the Clipper ships ? - always thought that would be a lot more interesting than a floating party barge.

You can often 1/2 the oil in many recipes without much difference - also use a cooking spray or oil mister and non-stick cookware...

I was on a medically supervised VLCD. I was monitored weekly by a Dr/Nurse and Dietitian, blood work and shrink every 4 weeks. I wouldn't try this 'at home', there are risks - you do it when you really don't have any other good options. In my case it was chronic pain and they wouldn't operate on my hip until I lost 40 at…

I'm ok now. But have trouble resisting certain things when if I know they are there and I had to move it to get at my berries. if it were elsewhere I might not have noticed it until later. He didn't even think about it. Generally he has been good, but still does things like this often enough. He bakes sweets and that is…

Well, I made it! I didn't touch it... Partner came home and I confronted him with it and he ate it...
-
The person who made it is one of his 'little old lady' buddies. I know she makes really good pies complely from scratch with the lard crust and everything... this isn't any old store pie....
-
ha! I can't say I noticed and water retention.... but when I was on my VLCD I was allowed a pickle and boy did it taste great after eating only shakes and bars....
-
oh, yea! is that one that they had him tied up ?
-
Oh yea! But certainly not my first... ---- First would have to be Robert Conrad in Wild Wild West, again those tight butt pants ! Also Jason and his buddies in the 1963 Jason and the Argonauts... that's when I knew I liked bears...

At some point I'm going to take another run at another 20-25 pounds but even if I make that - I'm still not sure my build is is 'otter', my shoulders/chest is too broad.
-
I think I'm going make up a measured snack bag for the travel day. dried fruit/pumpkin seeds.
-
Ha! I use to be much more 'bearly', but still think I can qualify though... The fur looks denser now..
-
Oh yea, I'm really afraid if i'm not careful this trip could cost me 10 pounds and set me back as i'm having trouble maintaining my weight or losing anymore the way it is. I've been reading some of the paleo people - Mark Sisson and the guys on the http://healthymindfitbody.com/ podcast in particular. I can't say I'm ready…

I'll have to check out her newer stuff. Because the Night is my favorite though.

Hey, just saw you post! Yes, have been a Patti fan - like what 1979? Haven't seen or heard from her in years - a couple years ago she did a documentary - would have to look it up.

cook it into a sauce with tapioca and add pineapple to sweeten it.
