That topic title trolled me hard. I was getting ready to give you a piece of my mind.... And now I can only say congratulations!

If you want a somewhat technical explanation from a doctor and you have 90 minutes, watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBnniua6-oM Both sucrose and high-fructose corn syrup are terrible for your long-term health if you consume too much. Lactose, on the other hand, is just fine. So, it really depends on the type of…

Yes, but WW has you on a much bigger deficit if you don't eat some veggies to make up for it. It's their twisted way to get you to eat veggies? Also fiber. And fat is evil. Does that about sum it up?

I'd remember to find a new goal once you reach your goal weight. The concept of "maintenance" can be dangerous if you get complacent. Maybe work on your muscle tone?

If this is a friend of yours, they might just be feeling self-conscious about their own workout clothes. They are out of line for making snide remarks, but it might be coming from their concerns about how they look, and they are trying to normalize their ratty workout clothes by making you the "weird" one for having nice…

It depends on whether or not you care about tempo or if you just want songs to pump you up. I have multiple playlists that are BPM specific, but then I also have a playlist lovingly titled "Hulking Up, Brother!" that is just the most kick-*kitten* classic rock, alternative, and hip-hop that I have.

So good. And so true. At least I think so.... *runs off to research it*

Well said, brother. It's this attitude that has been instrumental in my success so far, far more than anything else, including motivation, willpower, protein supplements, or the blessed elliptical. :)

I'd buy several houses and rent all but one out. Then, I'd live off of the rent and wait for the housing market to rebound, then sell the houses (except the one I'd be living in). Then, after paying off my student loans and setting a little aside in a savings account, I'd invest most of it in a diversified portfolio of…

High sodium leads to retained water weight, but does it actually affect fat loss in any way? If it does, why? If not, and blood pressure isn't really an issue, wouldn't ignoring sodium not really be an issue? Does high sodium have long-term effects? I know people have lost loads of weight and kept it off while completely…

You should see losses with a scale or a tape measure over time, but both have advantages and disadvantages. Some say that weighing yourself more than once a week is a bad idea, because a lot of things can affect what the scale says on a given day, and the real losses or gains one experiences aren't big enough from day to…

Sumo wrestlers do something similar... but their one meal is thousands of calories. Mmmm, chanko-nabe...

The clothing victories are the sweetest, I think. And you get them before you can really *see* much of a difference. I am experiencing similar things. My clothes were all getting too small, and now they mostly fit me again. I can't wait to have to buy some new clothes! :-)

If that zoo trip is not accounted for by your activity level, then I would count it. You can always lowball it if you feel guilty for some reason. ;)

I was digging through the fridge, trying to figure this very thing out the other day. What I ended up doing was dumping the drained tuna in a bowl, adding a serving of Olde Cape Cod Fat-Free Sesame Ginger dressing and a scant teaspoon of crushed garlic. I put that in a pita pocket with some spring mix, and voila--a new…

People say you should rest one day a week at least, but I think the important thing is to not do hard exercise every day, especially things like weightlifting. Muscles need time to repair, so rest muscles. Your whole body, on the other hand, can probably handle some light exercise every day if that feels good to you. If…

Some more information would be helpful. What have you tried? What has gotten in your way?

YES! This has been my experience for the last week. In my case, the ability to eat more when I work out is the main motivator to get me to work out at all. Lol. It makes a huge difference. I go to the gym, do some cardio, feel great, and then I have no trouble staying within my adjusted calorie goal. When I don't do that…

I'm not a military wife, obviously, but one of my friends (MannAmanda) is a marine wife. Add her!

Do the machine and/or heart rate monitor have your weight and age information entered? I know that, before I realized I could enter my weight and age into the ellipticals at my gym, my calories burned were a lot lower.

Welcome, bro.

Split pea soup with andouille - 243 calories for a 2-cup bowl. It's in my crock pot right now. Smells lovely. A little high in sodium, even from scratch.

What you need to understand is that fitness is forever. You can't fail at fitness if you keep trying. If you have some workout plan that you start, you might fail to meet your daily goal, but the workout plan is a tool to achieve your goal of weight loss--nothing more. To quote Blues Traveler "There's no such thing as a…

Matcha like the finely powdered green tea? I'd try an Asian market for good stuff, though you might find it elsewhere. It's delicious, but I haven't had it much since leaving Japan. People make smoothies with it? I mean, I guess if you can sprinkle it on ice cream, you can do just about anything with it....
