  • I experienced that after losing a significant amount of weight in my 20s. I guess I adjusted, but I think I do remember getting a softer mattress the next time. Maybe a thick mattress pad would help. We just got a new mattress and got an adjustable base this time. What a game changer! If you elevate the foot just a little,…
  • I also get hungry before bed and find I can't sleep on an empty stomach. I've been eating fruit before bed lately. I've been getting some really good peaches lately. It doesn't matter what or when you eat, just leave enough calories for yourself to have a snack.
  • The 20th of this month will be my one year anniversary of quitting smoking cigarettes. Never thought I'd be able to do it. It's been hard for me. Once I got over the initial couple of months of wanting to eat everything in sight, I've been trying to lose weight. It isn't the same since I quit. Nicotine obviously really…
  • I find it fascinating that your husband is learning so quickly. I told my husband in February that he needed to be getting some physical activity, because I don't want him to die. He did start riding our stationary bike and now he rides it for an hour almost every day. I'm really proud of him! His diet is a different…
  • The realization that I don't have to banish my favorite foods in order to lose weight. I still eat all of the things I love while losing weight, I just have to make sure the amount of them fits within my calorie goal.
  • I'll admit, it's pretty tedious at first and takes some time. Hang in there, people tend to eat the same things, so once most of your foods are in your frequent foods list it will be easy when you're busy just to check mark your food and change the serving size of needed. If you can't match up your food, you can always…
  • They look so happy sitting in the sun. Sweethearts!
  • It's probably water retention. When you work out, your muscles retain water to try to heal. As a matter of fact, on your weight loss journey, there will be times you won't see a loss on the scale because the true loss is being masked by water weight. Someone was freaking out the other day that they gained 7 pounds from a…
  • I also take imitrex for migraines. It's a miracle drug and has changed my life! I used to have debilitating headaches, usually once a month associated with hormones.
  • I'm the exact opposite. Would rather not have someone else see me working out. Even when my husband comes in the room, I have a hard time talking to him because I'm so out of breath! I always watch YouTube videos while I work out. I have friends that have channels, so it's kind of like they're with me haha!
  • Yes, we medicated him for years and it was under control. The tumors secrete extra thyroid hormone, so the medication doesn't keep them from growing, it just offsets the extra hormone. We had no choice, and couldn't do radio iodine therapy because he was already in the beginning of renal failure.
  • I had a hyperthyroid cat. He had lots of problems, but hyperthyroidism is what killed him. We couldn't do the radio active idodine treatment because he only had one working kidney. I did realize the hyperthyroidism was caused by thyroid tumors. What I didn't know is that the tumors could grow big enough to close off his…
  • Yeah, it's a wonder I'm as normal as I am with food. When I was little, my mom worked out of town almost every week. She was a regional manager for a chain of weight loss centers. The kind in the 70s where you'd get shots, but if you stopped taking the shots you'd gain the weight back. Probably some kind of amphetamine? My…
  • Ugh! I didn't notice that! Lots of zombie threads here lately
  • That's wonderful, congratulations!
  • I'm sorry, but if your depression is caused by an imbalance, you'll need to come to terms with the fact that you'll have to take it for the rest of your life. This is a problem people have with mental illness. They take the pills and feel better, then stop taking them thinking they're cured. It doesn't work that way. You…
  • I've been doing push ups after my cardio lately. I ordered some resistance bands and they got here last night I'm going to look up what all I can do with them!
  • I'm not sure if you're going to try to meet all of your goals at the same time. I quit smoking about 10 months ago. I could never have adhered to a calorie goal while trying to quit. I'm not trying to discourage you, just try to be kind to yourself when you quit smoking. It's a really hard, emotional thing.
  • Sent you a friend request, fellow Texan!
  • You have to make your own diet plan. If you go through the guided set up, MyFitnessPal will give you the amount of calories you should eat and a place to record it. Nobody will tell you what to eat, you have to figure that out for yourself. Good luck!
  • When I go over, I break it down to how many more days I have to remain in a deficit. I had a bad day yesterday and went over by 1000 calories. Since my daily deficit is 250, that means I have to stay in a deficit for 4 more days until I reach my goal. At that rate, you can see how it's taken me since January to lose 6…
  • Nice intro! I try to think of how happy I'll be with my body this time next year!
  • There's a new group for slow losers if you'd be interested in joining. It's not very active because we don't have a lot of members yet. I hope this link works. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/140939-turtle-track-2021
  • I hope it gets passed. Our population needs as much help as it can get with obesity.
  • Do you have a fridge? I take a turkey wrap to work every day. I make it using a low carb tortilla, turkey lunch meat, cream cheese, and a slice of swiss cheese. it's only 212 cals! If I have a long day I will also take an apple, some carrots and ranch, or strawberries.

  • You can still be successful! I understand there are a lot of chair workouts you can follow on YouTube. If you haven't already, read some in the success stories section for inspiration!
  • I've found small steps that build upon one another are much easier are more sustainable. I think you're going about this in a really good way. Good luck with your journey!
  • I don't have as much to lose, but I log every day (except on vacation) and I try to be encouraging to my friends! I also have an open diary and I don't eat only rabbit food if you're looking for ideas. I've found some pretty good ways to make good tasting lower cal foods! You're more than welcome to add me!
  • My favorite has chicken baked with Fiesta Seasonings jalapeno salt. It has salsa, tomatoes, avocado, onion, black beans, corn, pepper jack cheese, a little light ranch, and crunched up tortilla chips!
  • You've done so well! I wish you continued success!
