Less carbs doesn't mean no carbs at all. You still need fuel. I did the whole 'greek yoghurt for breakfast, protein lunch' thing and was crippled with headaches by the afternoon. Cut down your carb portion size, sure, easy way to lower daily calories, but don't omit them entirely.

If you've been strength-training for a while and perhaps you're not adding as much weight to your lifts as you once were, you might want to consider bulking and building muscle. It won't be fast, but could be the only way to get truly bigger.

You can't spot-reduce. 'Skinnier' legs will come as you lose weight overall. Ditto the stomach. Advice... Eat fewer calories than you burn. How many do you burn? There are online calculators that will give you an idea based on your activity level. How to eat fewer? Log everything you eat - EVERYTHING, not just a few…

Yep, first thing in the morning. As you eat throughout the day you add weight (food) and water. By the end of the day you could be 3-4lb up, everyone is. First thing. After you wee.

I tell myself if I've gotten that hungry I've done something wrong, usually mucked up a calculation somewhere. It can happen if I have a very protein-heavy meal with no carbs - huge energy dip - or I just eat too small. Hunger is a sign you need to go look at your meal plan again :) I keep some cooked roast chicken in the…

You've really no way of finding out. 'Kung fu' is a hugely broad term. A HRM is only good for teady state cardio. I trained for 7 years, some sessions we broke a sweat but not many. I still ended up strong and with muscle-definition, but I don't credit it with any major calorie burn. If your class is anything like mine,…

'Healthier' is a meaningless word used in diet magazines and by supermarkets who want you to buy a lot of granola. You can get just as fat by adding bananas and handfuls of seeds to everything. When I wanted to shed the baby weight I ate 'healthy' foods, pasta, rice, wholemeal bread, fruit, lots of fruit, yoghurt. So…

NerdFitness is a good resource for beginner questions. Really, to start out you just need to learn the basic lifts and some good form - a session or two with a personal trainer should sort that. You say there are no PTs -but there are gyms, right? There'll be trainers at the gym. Ask about it there. Stronglifts will start…

Honestly I wouldn't log it at all. Pushing a pushchair isn't strength training, whichever way you swing it. I walk 15,000+ steps a day with a pushchair and don't log it. I let Fitbit make an estimate based on the steps and adjust (or don't) my calorie goal from there, but I'd feel like I was kidding myself to pretend a few…

Without looking at your diary it's hard to tell. If you're not eating much and don't feel hungry, then I'm wondering where you managed to get the 10lb you want to lose? I started out similar to you, more interested in working out my diet's nutrition than I was in full-on weight loss (I was always hungry and used MFP to see…

Although, yeah, as said above. Eating protein won't make you lose weight. What it will do is keep you feeling full and your mood good, which in turn, may help you lose weight if hunger and mood are what make you reach for the high-cal food.

0.8g of protein per 1lb of your bodyweight. Or 1g per lb of your lean body mass. Which is fairly long-winded to figure out, so 0.8g per lb is a bit easier to handle. Many go for 1g per 1lb anyway, just because hey, more steak!

I tried a few things but stopped searching once I found weightlifting. I enjoy it so much it's not remotely a chore or a necessity, but a hobby and something I really look forward to. I've been running on and off for about 8 months. Honestly, I don't really enjoy it and probably never will, but I sort of like the being…

I haven't been to McDonalds since college. I guess I'm just lucky not to live near one, so I don't go past. Things would probably be different if I did. Junk to me is chocolate, cake and biscuits. It doesn't have a huge effect on me unless I have loads, like at Christmas, when the eventual sugar crash puts me in a bad…

Max out your noob gain first. If all it took was a calorific excess to build muscle, no one would get fat ;) So, go lift. Stronglifts 5x5 is a great start. After a few months you might feel your progress is slowing. Your muscles have learned new ways of moving but it's time for more. Now eat a small surplus - 400 extra…

8 slices over the whole day means he survived on a pizza a day. Sooo he basically restricted his calories. Some of the pizzas in my nearby store are 1600 each - which is astonishing for a single meal, but yeah, if you're happy to look at an entire pizza and call it your day's supply of food, go for it! I lost weight well…

'Healthy' foods generally means low calorie foods. He's not gonna put weight on eating vegetables. He isn't different or 'genetically' predisposed to being slim, he just does a lot of cardio and eats 'healthy'. If he really wanted to gain weight he would have done. It's not like there's a shortage of high calorie food out…

I keep strawberries and grapes on hand so I can pig out whilst barely eating any calories. Or make a cup of tea.

You'll wake up one morning and decide to take it seriously. Until then, there are no magic tips and tricks. You just do it or you don't.

Nothing wrong with fruit. There's a bazillion articles out there as to the science why eating an apple isn't as 'omg sugar' as eating a bag of sweets but I can't remember it all now. You need sugar. You also need carbs. She'll probably feel crap and quit before you do :)

I tend to check out the high-protein 'fuller longer' meals in M&S. Around 350 cals ish, some around 400, but 32-38g protein per dish. It's nice to have something simple to log.

That's a bit like complaining it's your first week in your new job and you're not a millionaire yet. Like every other person who is baffled at their lack of weight loss, your diary is set to private. Open it up and maybe we could offer some tips. Also, the usual. Weigh your food, don't guess. Don't chomp down buckets of…

Just because food is 'healthy' doesn't make it automatically low calorie. You still need to watch the amounts. Your diary's still private so can't comment on specifics. But yeah - you can still take in too many calories on a diet of rice and lentils :)

Two kids. I lost the belly by losing weight - it came off last, but it came off in the end. "Eating clean" won't make you lose weight, eating fewer calories will.
-
It doesn't really matter, as you long as you keep under the calories. I pretty much ignore the fat/sugar targets and carbs I aim to hit it or surpass it - I get bad low-carb side effects pretty quickly, like low mood and no periods, if I go below about 150g. If I go over sugar it's because I ate an apple - big deal! I'm…

You get 'starvation mode' by being put in a prison camp, not by ignoring a box of cookies and going to bed with a belly full of fajitas. If you 'can't eat', enjoy your impending weight loss. What's to complain about? But if you don't lose, you know you're going to be one of those posters who claim they can't lose weight…

There's nothing wrong with carbs. You're eating too much. Weigh and log your food with more accuracy. Track your workouts with a monitor. You're currently ating more than you burn - it's very easy to do. I maintain on 1750. I could go over that just raiding the fruit bowl, or having a bit more salad dressing, or adding…

1900 burned on a walk would mean walking for like... a week. Non-stop. Your estimates are about 1000% too high.

Greek yoghurt with honey, cinnamon, flax or chia seeds, maybe fruit, maybe some muesli or All-Bran. Blueberries. Strawberries. Melon. Peach. Soreen malt loaf snack-size (not many cals, filling.) Nakd compressed fruit bars. Quest protein bars.

TheProteinWorks shakes are really delicious and don't taste at all like a whey shake. I got Optimum Nutrition gold because 'it tastes great' and it does not. I have to choke it down with black coffee.
