I log everything, even when it makes me wince. I opted not to exercise much this weekend, and it showed in a reduced caloric deficit for the weekend. Ouch. But you know, I'd make the same decision again because I wasn't feeling well. In the end, that means accepting a smaller loss. I'm realistic about that.

I've lost 40 lbs with diet change/calorie deficit and Wii Fit. If you are sedentary, then WATP is a find place to get started and help ease you in. Walking is a great total body exercise and it does lots of good things. It will not make you super toned though - you'll need more intensity and more focus on toning (with…

I am 5'9" Age - 34 on Friday SW - 350 (maybe a bit higher) CW - 307 GW1 - 299.9 GW2 - 285 GW3 - 250 GW4 -225 I will evaluate where things are around 225. Ideally, I'd like to get down to about 200. We'll see. I'm not tied to a number on the scale. I eat between 1800 and 2400 calories per day depending on how active I am. I…

Nobody here can help you with willpower. Ultimately, that comes from you. I could suggest a reasonable caloric deficit as the way to go, but if you can't meet that, no amount of suggestion will help. What's going on with you that is sapping your willpower and causing you to start and stop over and over? Are you really at a…

I have struggled with anxiety in the past (not currently medicated, but am currently under an enormous load of stress with work), and I have a history with binge eating disorder, so I'm hardwired to eat when stressed or anxious. What I do now is focus on calories. I don't have have the mental energy or time to be overly…

Nope. We always eat between 7:30 and 8:30 and I have a snack every night around 10:00 - 10:30 if my calorie deficit is too low. Still losing steadily. But beyond that, I used to stop eating religiously at 8:30 every night, and was still gaining weight, because I was eating 3,000 calories per day before that. That said, I…

I have gone down some - at my heaviest (~350, maybe more) I was squeezing uncomfortably into large 26's and 28's on bottom. Now I'm easily in 24's, but my hips are carrying weight and that is the last place I lose. I'm buying some new clothes and having a hard time figuring out what size to buy, because thighs/waist have…

For most people, it's not an issue. For some people it is. No shame in that, so long as you are being honest about it (by which I mean, are genuinely hitting a mentally unsound place, and not just tired of doing it). This is precisely why I don't weigh food. Even while recognizing that it is beneficial and more accurate,…

Eggs, eggs, eggs. Cheap and easy way to get your protein. Canned tuna, salmon, etc - also inexpensive and easy to fix in several ways. Watch for sales - my grocery store frequently does meal deals, by which I buy a certain product - usually meat - at full price and get a huge compliment of items for free (sometimes…

I didn't lose much in February. I finished my Whole30 and I know I was very low in calories that week. Then I joined MFP and upped my workouts at the same time. It wasn't a pretty month. MFP sets my calorie goal below my BMR and that made things dicey when I added in working out. My body just kind of freaked out. I settled…

If it has to be indoors/video - I ditto Leslie Sansone's walking videos. Easy place to start. I do a lot on Wii Fit. I also do the 7 minute workout, which is extremely modifiable to your ability level; I started with 20 second rests between exercises and used lower steps for step-ups and started with knee push-ups and…

I haven't set a final goal weight. My first goal weight is 'under 300' followed by 285. Then 250. Then 225. Then I'll re-evaluate. It's based on how I look and feel and what else is going on. I honestly think I'd probably be fine/healthy at 200. I don't know if I can get much lower than that - I know I'll never be in a…

It's very hard to not to get discouraged, but please do learn to set realistic goals. It took me awhile to learn that 2 lbs per week is really very high in weight loss terms and will not be achievable when I lose more. I had heard for years that 1-2 lbs was healthy, and also that larger people lose more (and then, yeah,…

I have lost a few chins with 40 lbs (one the first areas to go - but my hips are hanging on, grrr). But I am genetically doomed to have a double chin and jowly cheeks - see my mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother . . . still losing weight has and will continue to make some difference, so at least it will be clear…

Yes, I struggled with this in college and was tested and diagnosed with Binge Eating Disorder and I was 1 pt away (based on the testing I did) from Obsessive-Compulsive Overeating Disorder. Fun times. I did therapy and a lot of nutritional classes, and worked on identifying the triggers for binging and was taught various…

It feels like you are making a number of assumptions. I burned 400 calories in 38 minutes last night (jogging and boxing). I burn over 3000 when I hit 7,000 steps per day. I'm sure people would question some of my food choices or accuse me of inaccurate logging because I have homemade recipes (my own homemade recipes)…

A three month supply of folic acid reduces the risks of neural tube defects drastically. A regular multi-vitamin is 100% fine before pregnancy, and actually probably better because of the low calcium, low vit A and increased iron in pre-natals (not that pre-natals are terrible to take if you are not pregnant, but they…

What you have to learn is restraint and responsibility. No one is going to make you eat or drink something you don't want to (and if they do - you've got an abusive situation that requires your immediate attention). There is no reason to binge or lose self-control just because food is there. I'm not saying it's easy - but…

1500 calories?! I would find a new doctor. That is ABSURD. The reason? Your body will give the baby the nutrients it needs to grow and it will strip your body to do it if they aren't provided. Your body will gain what it needs to gain. As hippy-dippy as it sounds, there are women who need to gain more than what ACOG…

I regularly eat at 10:00 at night, and that is usually when I have my treat for the day, because that is when I know I have my calories. It's simply the way our schedules work. For the record, I'm down 43 pounds from my starting weight, 23 down since January, and have lost 1.5-2 lbs per week for each of the last three…

If I hit my final goal weight, I'll still be overweight on BMI charts. I have large bones. That's not why I'm at my current weight, but it doesn't make it less true - my wrists are bigger than my husband's, I have a high bone density. I also have some serious leg muscles after hauling around 300+ lbs for years. That's…

Here is where I would start: www.fertilityfriend.com Take their free online charting course. It's going to explain how to chart and the benefits of charting (which I will sum up as learning your body's natural fertility signs to help you time sex near ovulation and to help you find out whether or not you are ovulating at…

Logging food isn't a problem, but trying to regulate too much (or lose) is a problem. Follow your body's cues, eat nutritionally balanced, healthful foods and so long as you don't have rapid weight gain, don't worry about the scale. Focus on healthy eating, not calories.

I do, yes. It's not terrible, and I'm losing weight slowly enough that I don't think it'll be the most awful, worst thing ever. But I started at 350 lbs - it was inevitable that I would have excess skin. As for exercise you can do at home - google '7 Minute Workout' - you need to push hard with each activity, and you need…

Are you actively trying to time sex to fertile days? Do you use opk's or chart at all? I hate to call it a hobby, but I'm pretty good with this area due to all the difficulties we faced, and am happy to give advice if you like. If you don't chart or use any opt's I would highly recommend doing so while you get your…

Folic acid is exceptionally important - please start taking it now! You'll hit your minimum if you are taking a multi-vitamin. Be careful of taking it as a separate supplement - you want a complimentary balance of B-vitamins. And thanks for the reminder - I need to start up my b-cocktail (otherwise known as Folgaard) again…

FWIW, when I was pregnant, I always just listened to my body. I ate when I was hungry, and didn't when I wasn't, and tried hard to get a good variety of nutrients in. That said, I have wicked morning sickness, starting the moment implantation occurs, so with my successful pregnancies, I ate very little in the first tri…

Some of our favorite meals, that we continue to make regularly, came from when I did Whole30, which forbids dairy, sugars/sweeteners, grains and legumes. Just about everything was super healthy and much of it was quite delicious. For the record. You can eat things filled with eggs, potatoes, butter, cream - if you eat…

I found things worked better for me when I ditched diet sodas, but I wasn't replacing them with anything but water. If it's helping you avoid a snack/calories, then meh. Keep it. I just feel and do better without artificial sugars, personally. This is totally a YMMV scenario.

Again, plus size still makes it harder - discount stores are hit and miss and I'm still in a 22/24/2x - good news is the bottom half is finally moving into that size range! Sleeves are also hard because my biceps are so fatty. :/ Thanks for all the suggestions - thankfully my birthday is coming up, so I'll have a bit of…
