Very much agree on both points!

^^ Agree with the above comments! A lot of this is trial-and-error. You'll find that you spend a lot of time figuring everything out but that's not a bad thing. It will just mean that you know more in the end and you can be successful!

I teach cycling classes so I've made an effort to add a variety of music into my setlists because I feel like my participants will get bored with all the metal I listen to. Of these, probably the ones most outside my normal are "Sugar We're Going Down" by Fall Out Boy (it's just sooo perfect for so many things!) and…

Other than the suggestions that others have given you, you can also indulge in higher calories, less nutrient-dense foods. Something just to snack on like a serving of chips or something indulgent. If you're eating an apple, add a serving of peanut butter. If you're having some veggies as a side dish, add a little butter.…

And these things also annoy me because they give an unrealistic expectation of weight loss. When people think they can lose 5, 8, 10, or 20lbs in a week using these things, why would they come to MFP where they'd only lose 1-2? Those of us who have been in the game long enough know that 1-2lbs loss per week is normal,…

I got tired of looking things up for her on MFP so now I reply exclusively with snark. I told her about MFP numerous times, so she can come look up any vegetables she wants (because I don't give a kitten about carbs, so I never pay any attention)

I was contacted by a family member on FB asking me how I lost so much weight (didn't post progress pictures, but it's pretty easy to see the progress from what I do post) and I told her (more-or-less) "I found out how many calories I need to consume in order to lose a pound a week and I eat that. I eat less and I move…

I eat about 1450 on a non-exercise day. When I do exercise, I eat back about 50-75% of my exercise calories, just to account for discrepancies in counting calories consumed and/or estimates of calories burned.
-
Absolutely incredible! I love that you've chosen to skip the fad diets and go for what you thought was going to help you most in the long term. Your hard work and dedication definitely show! Oh, and I dig the tights in your latest picture. Super cute!

That is true. My university's tuition is super low too so I really don't mind it at all. And I use the gym all the freakin time (I even work there) so I feel like I get my money's worth!
-
I'm surprised at the college students that have to pay for their university's gym! My university's gym has pretty much all the equipment you'd ever want (although only two squat racks), free group fitness classes, a pool, and cheap rates on personal trainers and a dietitian for all students. The only things you have to pay…

Nope, I've been losing a pound a week. I don't have that kind of patience, lol

I don't regularly eat at maintenance, I usually keep my calorie goal pretty steady. That being said, if there is a special occasion I will go to maintenance or possibly over. That being said, if you are under your calorie goal for the week, you will lose weight. To give an illustration, I eat about 1400 calories a day.…

I'm also short (about 5'1.5) and I eat 1400 on a sedentary day. Even short women can eat more than 1200 and still lose weight
-
I'm going to agree with all of the above responses, but especially this. I started with 1200 and found that I still lose weight when eating 1400-1500 before exercise calories and it makes it a lot easier for me. I don't know what your stats are, but I'm 5'1 and currently 160lbs. I started at 220, eating around 1600-1800 a…

Wasabi peas have their own built-in portion control too. I can only eat so many of them before I have to stop because I can't handle the wasabi, lol.

Yeah, I used to be a 38DD, now a 34A. You can probably see from my current picture that I have little to no boobs. My boobs used to fill this shirt completely and now they're barely there. I've lost about 60lbs.

Honestly, when I first started, I got out of breath using workout videos too. But I would pause the video, drink some water, and catch my breath and then continue on with the video. It may take you a little longer, but you'll be able to get through it in time! Also, if you're going to be joining a gym, I can't recommend…

Getting one of my mom's handwriting. So incriminating.

Definitely agree with this! Knowledge is power. If you find that one or two of your snacks can fit into your calorie goal, keep them! But this will allow you to ease into the process and get used to it. Also, try to figure out why you're snacking. Are you bored? Lonely? Tired? Legitimately hungry? Once you find out, you'll…

http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ Also, I've found that I prefer this calculator to MFP's calculator when it comes to determining how many calories you should be eating. A lot of the process is trial-and-error, so if you find that something is not working too well, you may need to tweak it.

I would suggest investing in a heart rate monitor with a chest strap to see where your heart rate is when you're walking. As you begin losing weight and getting more fit, it will be harder to keep your heart rate up with the effort you're exerting now, and that might be the time that you try running. Just keep in mind:…

When I was at a higher weight, I was more busty. Now that I'm getting closer to my goal weight, my ribs protrude more than my boobs do when I'm laying on my back.
-
Probably the most surprising to me is that I actually loved working out so much that I became a fitness instructor at my university. I never, ever expected that! Mostly because I used to be a super lazy *kitten*.

This picture of me at 220 lbs was the starting point. I saw it, I hated it, and I wanted to change it. I keep going because I want to become better than myself. I'm 60+ lbs down from that picture now and I want to keep going. Not only to lose weight, but I want to be able to run faster/longer, I want to be able to lift…

I thought the title was "What do you think about men" but I saw it was "meat" and I was like "Lol, still applies."

I don't have a snake currently but I really, really want a ball python. If I ever get one, it's name with either be Muffin or Nagini. I see no other options.

I also haven't been on a diet of all chocolate donuts, so am I not qualified to speak about that either? The fact of the matter is that, yes, there are benefits from eating fruits and vegetables. But that doesn't meant that you have to only eat them to lose weight or be healthy. I eat fruits, vegetables, meat, cake,…
-
I think another thing to consider is to do something that will be sustainable for the foreseeable future. For instance: if you do not like kale, do not force yourself to eat it because it's "healthy." If you do like pizza, find a way to limit the amount of pizza you eat at once or make it at home and make it healthier than…

Both of the above points! Take time to find out how many calories your body burns in a day (naturally and through exercise) and eat less than that number. Bam You've got an inexpensive and sustainable way to lose weight.
