  • Ask at the jewelry store if it's Canadian. It should also have an inscription that you can see with a magnifying glass and should come with paperwork certifying where it's from. I assume some of them are exported to the states. It's a big industry where I live (the Northwest Territories). My husband worked at one of these…
  • Canadian diamonds aren't blood diamonds. They're mined in the arctic of Canada. I have one and I love it.
  • @fruitinstead - You can do it! Thanks for writing your post. It got me thinking and I realized that in the past my error was thinking "I can't be perfectly accurate at a potluck so why bother trying. I'll just take a break from tracking for this event". I never considered that if I tracked as best I could I might maintain…
  • Daily, but I'm not obsessed with or discouraged by the fluctuations. If I was I would only weigh once a week
  • I can understand your concern about accurately tracking during these get togethers. I just returned from a two week visit with family (half the time with mine, half the time with my husband's). My family eats relatively light but live in the city, so I indulged in restaurant food I can't get where I live (remote Northern…
  • I agree with the poster above. One of my peeves is people using fat free salad dressing all the time. Vitamins A, D, E, K are fat soluble, so if you don't have some fat with your salad you will not absorb these. I set my fat macro to 40% and have found that it keeps me very satiated, which has helped me lose weight. I…
  • I make my own with sesame oil instead of tahini, and lots of lemon. Love it!

  • So Delicious makes amazing ice cream made of coconut milk. Yogurt doesn't bother some lactose intolerant people
  • I love mine too! This would be pretty tricky to figure out. I haven't bothered to count because I figured the cals would be very minimal. Could you start with an empty bottle, measure out a small amount of oil and count how many uses you get, then divide that amount of oil by number of uses to get the cals?

  • Bough new bras yesterday. Went down one back size and one cup size!
  • Vitamins A, D, E, K are fat soluble, so if your salad dressing is fat free (or if you don't eat something with fat on the side) you won't absorb these vitamins. This is why I always have fat in my salad dressing. I'd rather sacrifice a few calories somewhere else to get my nutrients in my salad. Plus fat free dressings…
  • I recently purchased Yoga for Energy and Relaxation with Tamal Dodge. It's an Element DVD and only cost about $10. I think the energy routine is pretty good, but the relaxation routine blew me away. I tried it on a day when I had very sore muscles and I found it was amazing for stretching and achieving a peaceful state.
  • I'm apple-shaped so I always measure both. Are you thinking of the waist to hip ratio? http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/WaistE28093hip_ratio
  • I wonder if your friend is thinking she'll lose you, to a new boyfriend or other group of girls after you drop a bunch of weight. Maybe she feels very lucky to have your friendship and does not want to see you go. But it's not right how she is treating you and you should let her know. She may get defensive. I find people…
  • And if he doesn't want to get help/change his situation, you can change by looking after yourself. Don't compromise on what you need/want ie. fitness, weekends away because you feel bad for him. That will only leave him stuck and you feeling resentful. Don't take too much responsibility for him. Also don't try to fix him.…
  • That is excellent, congrats! I'm at 25 so 0.1 away for me!
  • Thanks for all the reinforcement and encouraging responses  I like the idea of saving some calories for an occasional/weekly indulgence. I used to do that when I was on weight watchers (with the flex points) and it worked really well for me. @crazyforbooks - You're half way there just by being aware of your…
  • So true! I set my fat macro at 40% for this reason and it's been working for me so far. I am satiated.
  • Someone on here recommended reading the articles on this site: www.bodyrecomposition.com I noticed that he had some info on stubborn fat loss but did not read it because that's not my problem - yet. He has a whole book about it. Might be worth checking out?
  • Another former ww'er here...I used weight watchers online twice and it worked for me, initially. I lost 19 lbs the first time, and 12 lbs the second time. Like someone mentioned earlier, I found that I gained all my weight and then some back. I found the points system to be a diet and not a lifestyle, and I think that is…
  • I agree with the poster above. I am a mental health professional, but can't give personalized advice over the net for ethical reasons. I noticed you called it BED. Were you diagnosed by a mental health professional? If so, could you reconnect with that person to get some more help with this issue? If not, could you see a…
  • Sprouting grains first increases the availability of the nutrients in the grain vs. unsprouted grains. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sprouting You can sprout all kinds of grains, seeds, and legumes. I've sprouted quinoa and lentils at home. 12 grain just means that there are 12 grains in the bread (check the ingredients…
  • Agree with above. Which nutrients keep you satisfied? I'm eating a higher fat (35-40%) diet because I find that healthy fats keep me satiated ie. Coconut oil, nuts, avocado. This helps me stick to my calorie goal
  • www.recipematcher.com You can search for recipes based on ingredients you have on hand. So if you need to use up surplus ingredients, pop those in and see what else you can make. If you need a few additional ingredients, pick those up during your shopping and you have 2+ meals taken care of.
  • I like to do "rollover" meals in my crock pot. For example, I'll make pulled pork one night and have sandwiches with potatoes and a veggie. That same week I might also have pulled pork on a salad, or put it in a quesadilla. I'll cook a whole chicken in the crock pot and have chicken dinner with potatoes and veg one night,…
  • Greek yogurt. You can get 0% if you're running out of your allowance for fats. Tuna
  • If you're going to start drinking tea for its health benefits, read this first: http://foodbabe.com/2013/08/21/do-you-know-whats-really-in-your-tea/ I have been a huge tea drinker since childhood. I'm not saying you should care about chemicals, GMO's and all that stuff (some people don't) but if you're going to drink tea…
  • I find that red peppers are amazing with hummus.
  • I hear you OP. I have struggled with emotional eating in the past. I second the suggestion of psychotherapy (if you are able and even if it's mild to moderate) in order to gain insight into what is driving your eating behaviour and figuring out other ways of coping. If you want to go the self-help route, books by Geneen…
  • Yes and I tested positive for approximately 25 foods. I was really frustrated because the elimination diet was extremely difficult due to the number of foods I couldn't eat, and then I found out that the validity of these tests is questionable. So now I'm back to eating all of those foods.
