I have always had a good idea of what I weighed. I did think I weighed about 15 lbs less than I did when I went to see a doctor for the first time in 15+ years. That was my sort of wake-up and face the music moment. I had a health problem and had to go to the ER and actually tell the nurse, from my own mouth, what I…

This is TMI but about 2 weeks out of the month I am not very hungry at all. The other 2 weeks I honestly don't think I have a limit to how much I could eat. Its a hormonal thing but a bit disturbing. I just have to tell myself that even though I feel hungry, I don't need more food. Usually I am burning 800-1000 calories a…

Are you weighing everything you eat? Eyeballing amounts and even measuring can mean lots of extra calories. Get a good scale and measure in grams. And just for the record, I am 5'10, 305ish pounds and losing on 2290 calories per day plus eating some of my exercise calories. If you have your goals set to 1lb per week, the…

It all depends on the machine. I can only use a couple of the machines at my gym because the others kill my knees. My knees are pretty much bone on bone and I have had to learn how to use the elliptical/walk up hill, etc. You might try adjusting how you place your weight while on the forward part of the movement. If I…

I would skip Pacer. Not loving it. Yesterday's 6 miles hike/walk came out as 3.1 miles and told me I only burned like 150 calories! Not so much.

I went on what I thought was going to be a walk yesterday but was bonafide hike. I was sweating my way up and over all the ups and downs thinking "I thought I was getting in shape but I am so out of shape." Then I realized I was going my full speed over those hills instead of just barely moving, like before! Go me!

I have had horrible upper back fat and my bras ALWAYS rolled up and looked just awful. The first thing I noticed is that they stay in place now and my upper back is much less lumpy.

To each his own Oreo, I guess!

I am sitting at about 306 right now, eating my 2290 from MFP plus some exercise calories several days a week, burning 800-1000+ calories per day (walking/hiking approx 40- 50 miles per week) and losing around 2.5- 3 lbs a week. Make your diet livable! Let's be honest- you didn't have a hard time getting in the calories…

I can't believe no one has addressed the peanut butter Oreo question! So, so. If you are going to go Oreo, go mint Oreo! Can you ask your family to keep the sweets out of the kitchen? Could someone keep them in their room? I have tons of sweets in this house but they are in "out of sight, out of mind" locations. If they…

11/1. 10.5 miles 11/2- 5 miles 11/3- 5 miles 11/4- 7 miles 11/5- 6 miles 11/6- 2 miles 11/7- 6 miles ..and now I just want to sit a while! Today's walk turned into a hike, much different thing!

I grew up doing outdoorsy stuff. When I got married and started having kids, it became hard to get time away. About 5 years ago, my father and I spent an entire autumn season fishing and it was enough to remember who I was again. Unfortunately, my father's cancer came on very suddenly and took his life just a few months…

Half Dome= the most difficult hike at Yosemite. Over 4000 feet of elevation gain. Good for you! We need to be friends. Working on the remaining 131 lbs so I can do the Wonderland Trail in 2 years. Nothing tastes better than finishing a really great hike feels!

What amazing weight loss! Keep up the good work.
-
Did you exercise? I have found I can gain as much as 5 lbs after a hard workout day! Could be muscles retaining fluids.
-
The hardest thing is not being able to do what I want to do. I used to love doing outdoorsy stuff but being 160 lbs overweight is not real great for climbing mountains. In Western WA, the only way is up, up, up on most hikes and I have had to settle for the very few with little elevation gain. And trying to find affordable…

Thanks for posting your progress. You wrote about hoping someone who was just starting running would see your posts and following it... that would be me! I am signing up for a Jingle Bell run on December 24th. I am more overweight than you are so I am probably going to try to stay at around weeks 1-3 for many months to…

I'm at about 306lbs right now. I started C25K three days ago and have done it every day. I've been walking 35-50 miles per week at a very good clip, so I thought I could push the timeline a bit. I did 3 days in a row of C25K and it is DEFINITELY a bad idea! The body needs some time to adjust to the new workout. It took a…

If you are starting from not exercising much, then start by walking. Do what you can and push yourself to go faster, longer, etc. When you have built up your endurance that way, then try a couch to 5k program. I am very overweight (131lbs to lose right now, 28 lbs down.) I have been walking 30- 50 miles per week, around…

Weighing about 306 right now, looking to get to the 175-200lb range. I am down about 28 lbs and am in this for the long run. Please feel free to add me- I need motivation, too!

Do you have a Wii? You might try Walk It Out. Basically, you earn points by walking to the beat of the music. You use the points to build the town/countryside/city, make rainbows, get more songs, etc. If you are of a competitive nature (even against yourself) it might be a great start for you.

You know the best part? You look really, really happy and at least 15 years younger. I am so impressed!

1. Walk 40 miles per week. 2. Stay within daily calories + eat back 1/2 of exercise calories. 3. Get to under 300lbs. About 8.5 lbs to go.

I'm Jeanette from Lakewood, WA. I've been walking for exercise for about 2 months now. My daily walks are ranging from 3.5 to 11.5 miles per day. It will be a lot of fun to make friends with other walking folks... my walking buddies from afar!

I started at needing to lose 160ish. It is tough but there are so many success stories that I also know it is completely doable. Sending friend request.
-
Fitbit will do it. You just need to know how many of your steps equals a mile and then keep track as you walk.
-
I have a friend that logs her day starting with her evening calories from the night before. That way, she can scrimp on the calories during the day to make up for any problems the night before.

...whoopsie... made a mistake.

I started on July 27 and have lost 26 lbs so far. I am set at 1.5 lbs per week but I exercise a lot and don't always eat back my calories. I like knowing I have the cushion in my diet, if I need it. I have 134 lbs to go. I am losing fast but my motivation is strong because I ran into a game-changing health problem in July.…
