I just know that I don't do enough for my job to be listed as anything BUT sedentary, but I also have a feeling that most sedentary people drive to work, and therefore don't get that "brisk 4.0 mph" walk in :)

I always bring a salad and keep a bottle of dressing at work. You can add dressing, close your tupperware, and shake it up so it gets nice and covered. I also leave yogurts and fruit and granola bars. If you can do a black bean salad or chickpea salad that's a good one too. I often do bring quinoa or hummus sandwiches too.

Hm. I guess I'll have to figure out what's best for me. I'm trying to lose weight (and gain a little muscle).

Thanks everyone, these are some great suggestions! I definitely eat tons of hummus :) I try to switch up varieties because I eat so much of it. I'm a huge fan of any of the spicy ones (Sabra Supremely Spicy, or Jalapeno). I also enjoy Trader Joe's Pretzel Slims, which are also surprisingly low-sodium and low-cal :)

I agree. I fell off the wagon today and yesterday, but I'm glad there is a supportive group here to help me get back on. I am really determined to get rid of my excess weight and get back into some of those old clothes.

oscelyn! I love it! I'm going to hide mine somewhere that i'm not tempted to grab it...like maybe put it at the bottom of my laundry basket and only take it out when i do my laundry on sundays :) Adam, that's a great study. I'm definitely going to consider weighing in more often, but only after I see a little bit of change…

Thanks, you're probably right. The cheese is going to be so tempting! I ate light today and did almost an hour of cardio, so I don't think I can allow myself to feel bad about eating a nice meal.

Also, luckily, I still have almost 1200 calories left, because I burned off what I ate today already!

I think it depends on the food, really. I believe "serving size" is just a unit of measurement. For example, when I make a salad, I'll use 1.5 servings of arugula (serving is 2 cups) and 1 serving of sliced turkey. I LOVE red peppers, so I'll do two servings, because I know they're low in calories. I think it just depends…

I agree, once you get into the swing of things, you realize it's really just taking that first step that is difficult.

normajean, i do the same thing! i bought a weighted hula hoop, which is really good for burning calories, and i just hoop during a half-hour program. burns 200 calories and it's fun!

Unsustainable, I think about ramen every time I bite down on my salad.
