Good to check in with the scale every 2 weeks or so. I struggled with maintenance when stressors came up. The weight can come back on faster than you might think--seems faster than losing it anyway.
-
Feel free to add me too. This is my 3rd time losing this weight, 2nd using mfp. I'll have to be more mindful when I get to maintenance this time.

You look beautiful! What an inspiration you are!

When I had mono the doctor gave me a shot of penicillin, and I felt recovered by the time I walked out to the parking lot of the doctor's office. It was amazing!! Since then I've been allergic to penicillin, but not that first time. Try that to get your strength back.

I WISH I were unable to drink milk. Milk with cereal is my biggest weakness and the cause of most of my weight gain.

It was from you that I started eating Pure Protein bars which I just buy at Walmart. I like that they are so low in sugar (unusual) and high in protein plus very tasty. Otherwise I just like Fiber One mealbars, particularly the peanut butter chocolate ones. Very filling and satisfying.

Those are my worst times, too. When I'm stressed, say I just had a fight with a family member for example, I eat differently. I just chomp quickly through everything, instead of enjoying the food. I can only think that recognizing the problem may help. Chomp on gum or something low cal and make yourself take a walk to…

Bump. (Great ideas!)

Also, be aware that others are sometimes less supportive of you resisting fattening foods when you look perfectly thin. My parents thought I was "obsessing" just still tracking calories. But I know from experience all the weight can indeed come back quickly and way too easily.

Wierd as it sounds, I've deleted people I really like because I spend too much time on mfp. Then I'm less chatty and "get in, get out" quicker.

I have Strong Curves and NRFLFW. Sound advice in both of them. I've only done workouts from Strong Curves so far, but I love the focus on the glutes while still hitting other areas as well. I think I might have looked over Strong Lifts and it was too technically detailed for me as a beginner strength trainer. I strongly…

I had extremely tight/sore hamstrings that water, stretching and massage weren't alleviating. So I discovered warm epsom salt baths. It worked amazingly well. Your body absorbs the (magnesium? ) topically, and that is what helps.

Very interesting. I did not know that! I wonder if that's why I can never learn to tread water? Doubt it. Thanks for the post, Barb! : )

I don't have insomnia, but when I do have a little trouble relaxing enough to fall asleep, I take one of my husband's prescription Clonazepams. They're just .5 mg tablets for him to take as needed for anxiety/sleep. You might ask your doctor about this. They help my husband, too, and he suffers from PTSD.

What are ups and downs? I tried googling it... Is there another name for it?

That is how I recently hurt my tailbone/very lower back area. I had just done lunges then did squats in the squat rack. My squats were so weak and that is when my tailbone began bothering me. I think I'll do those on separate days from now on or leave out lunges.

You look beautiful. You should be very proud of yourself. Good job!

I don't know what you are taking, but yes, some are known to have that affect for some people. I have been taking Effexor, which I LOVE. It not only increases seratonin but also nuereperine (don't know how to spell it), which increases your drive and motivation. It's like having a cup of coffee--being more alert, focused,…

Personally, antidepressants have really helped me. To the person writing before me, you might be trying to get endorphin highs to fill what you need, because 40 hours seems a bit excessive. But to each his own. It's not shameful to need medicine.

You are really an inspiration!

How many times a week should you lift? Is twice enough?
-
Awesome. Just requested these from the library to start with. Thanks!

I have the same question, because I like my body fine now--minus the still present muffin top. Been eating healthy, running, doing some circuit weights (and pulled shoulder muscle--so I'm wary about weights). What kind of heavy lifting specifically should we do to tone the belly/hips/abs area?

I was sluggish at first. I didn't even exercise for the first couple of weeks, but stayed within my calories. Gradually I was inspired by my loss to take it up a notch by walking, later running on treadmill, eventually threw in some weights. For me I've got to ease into it and listen to my body or I'll hate and dread it.…

You can add me. I'm 40, days away from turning 41, and have to keep calories at 1200 or work out for more. So my foods have to be healthy and filling. I log on every day. Fortunately I have some very encouraging, inspiring friends on mfp, sounds like what you need too.

Good formula to know, but how does it take into account speed, hills etc.?

Apple sliced with 1/2 cup cottage cheese (Daisy brand 2% is my favorite). Very satisfying. Or Fiber One mealbars.

True. I like kgeyser's response. Mine may have been too helicopter momish. He is a grown man after all.
