When I started living Primal, the only dairy I had was in the powder of my whey protein shake (blended with almond milk or coconut milk), and Kerrygold (grassfed) butter. After the first month or so, I started to allow for the occasional ounce of raw milk, full fat cheese. I found that I tolerate it just fine, and it…

Nassau County here! :)

Exactly. I've been strictly Primal for almost 8 months, and I still log and track and count calories and grams of carbs. I like it. I like seeing the macros line up right, and as the quote above says, it keeps me accountable. Yes. Yesyesyes. :) Amy

It is ABSOLUTELY not rude to ask for dressing on the side - as long as you ask politely. :) Restaurants get requests like that ALL THE TIME. Yesterday I had to meet someone to drop something off, and we ended up going for lunch. It was an ale house kind of place, which really didn't have any healthy as-is choices on the…

I don't ever go off Primal when it comes to grains and sugar and processed foods. I am an addict, and I have what I believe is a very healthy fear of relapse. Plus, as others have mentioned, I enjoy the way I eat now so much that I'm not even missing the taste of the things that I used to think that I could never live…

Empirical evidence!! I love it. Good for you, and thank you for sharing. :) Amy

Oh, bacon... Drool. Genius. :)

Looks yum!! Great idea - thanks for posting! :)

I know!! But I can't help myself. Living Primal has saved my life - I believe that with every fiber in my ever-shrinking-and-tightening body and with every neuron in my so-much-happier-and-way-less-stressed-out brain - and if I can get someone on those regular forums who has been thinking about it to give it a shot, and…

I agree with monkeydharma about the 30 days - and make sure you eat yummy things during that time - replace the carb calories with delicious healthy, unprocessed, whole foods - yummy proteins and veggies cooked in yummy healthy fats. Feel free to check out my diary for ideas - I think I have it set to public... I suppose…

Totally agreed. :)

^^^This. ^^^And this. ^^^This too. ^^^Also this.

I haven't heard of the coffee thing... But I do the IF thing most days, to some degree. I generally don't feel hungry when I wake up, and I like working out on an empty stomach. So usually I don't eat anything before noon, sometimes later. That being said, if I wake up and my body is sending strong hunger signals, I will…

Yogurt and milk - okay. Any bread - whole grain or not - just isn't healthy. It's not. Check out the book Wheat Belly or www.wheatbellyblog.com for more info. Just because it's whole grain doesn't mean it's good for you. It's like saying that filtered cigarettes are healthy when compared with unfiltered cigarettes. I mean,…

I have been Primal (very similar to Paleo, but slightly less restrictive with regards to dairy) for almost 8 months, and I have never been happier or healthier. Please read my blog post here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/4milesat40/view/6-months-primal-179202 and also come check out the Primal/Paleo group forum here on…

Cook with generous amounts of coconut oil and butter, melt butter on your veggies, have some macadamia nuts (but watch out - they're addictive and very high calorie), bacon & eggs...

You really think I'm the only person who has seen these results? Your attitude sucks, by the way. But I'm sure you hear that all the time. :)

I should qualify - I do calorie count, and keep my carbs below 50g every day, and do both quite strictly (and happily so). Plus I work out often. So in my case, I keep a solid amount of protein (at least 30%) and that leaves me 55% of my daily calories for fat. For reference, I eat under 1,400 calories per day as a base,…

I know EXACTLY what you mean. Going Primal and eating clean has totally changed my relationship/addiction to food, and I'm so happy and feel so great living this way, that I know that I will be able to continue to do so as a lifestyle choice. Feel free to add me if you'd like, and/or go through my food diaries. I eat…

So great to be able to attend a seminar and learn from the experts! :) I have been following the Primal Blueprint for over 7 months now, and couldn't be happier. The food, the fitness, the lifestyle aspect... I love it all. :)

They have baked beans and lentils in with those "protein-rich foods", (served in tomato sauce, to boot). Yes, they are protein-rich foods, but they're also high carb legumes, so of course they raise insulin, and therefore drive up the score of the "protein-rich foods" chart. There are many, many studies which discuss…

That's not true about protein and insulin response, actually... When eating clean, unprocessed whole foods, and avoiding the grains and sugars that do provoke a high insulin response, it is very possible to lose a great deal of weight while being completely satisfied, and feeling healthy and happy. I'm living proof, as are…

Actually, fat should be set higher than protein. I have my carbs at 15%, protein at 30% and fat at 55%. Keep the fat source clean and healthy, but fat doesn't make you fat. Grains, sugar, and things that provoke a large insulin response are the things that make you fat. Amy

How about sliders without the bun? With bacon and/or cheese, if you eat those, or maybe sauteed onions/mushrooms on top?

I have the Polar FT 40 and LOVE it. I got it for Mother's Day this past Spring, and it is one of the best gifts I have EVER gotten. Very, very happy with it. :)

It doesn't affect weight loss, but if may affect how you feel (i.e. previous comment about acid reflux, or someone who doesn't sleep well on a full stomach). However, if you don't have any adverse effects like that, then you can eat whenever you like, as long as you keep to within your caloric and macronutrient range. I…
