  • I agree with the water too. That almost always works for me. You know, yoplait makes these whipped yogurts, that you can freeze...that's a pretty yummy protein filled snack and if I recall correctly pretty low in carbs too.
  • I think you have to balance calorie counting with healthy eating. I had this conversation with my dad not too long ago. If you're alotted 1200 cals per day, and you don't eat all day so that you can blow your calories on a calorie rich dinner, then you're not going to lose weight that way. I love your math, by the way…
  • hey that picture was really classic! I was scrolling down to it right when my husband (who does not generally make healthy choices) looked over at my screen. Good Timing :)
  • Once per week. I don't own a scale so that makes it easy not to weigh myself daily. I've also heard "put it under the bed" or hide the scale in the closet". If I owned one, I would weigh myself before and after every bowel movement just to see if it made any difference. So, to protect my sanity, I use the biggest loser…
  • I got tendonitis from Sketchers running shoes - my doctor actually laughed at me when I told him I was wearing those to run in. I wear Saucony's now, and I am considering trying new balance but I'd like to work on correcting my form more before I switch to those.
  • I am no expert, but for women I think the rule of thumb is no less than 1200 calories consumed, regardless of your burn. I go up and down a bit on my burns depending on what I am doing that day, and generally as long as I consume at least 1200 calories I don't get the red message. It's harder than it would seem at first to…
  • you guys are KILLING me. I have been small chested for my entire life, except when I am pregnant or post pregnant (like I was). I've lost 17 pounds and I think ALL of it has been in my chest. I miss them already
  • Oh, and I'll take that rain. Thanks then :)
  • if you have cable, you might check your on demand to see if you have access to fitTV or exercise TV. I get a lot of my indoor work outs from the on Demand. or heck, just walk around your house, start some laundry and clean the floors. You'd be amazed how many calories you can burn just by doing a moderate effort into house…
  • I have been using c25k lite, but I don't think it likes me running pandora in the background, because it keeps starting over on me - which is very frustrating when you're half way through a work out. I am going to try My Interval Trainer. Thanks for the info :) Hey is anyone else here using a HRM while they run? MFP…
  • I had the same problem. So I put my shoes on and went jogging anyway. Any journey starts with just one step :)
  • Just reading what you have accomplished is inspiration to me! :flowerforyou: I am on a small plateau now too, also gained a couple of pounds. I tend to think of it as water weight, but really it doesn't matter, since the scale is going in the wrong direction. I've read a few posts about this in the past, and most people…
  • lol I laughed out loud too, that was awesome.
  • There are lots of folks on this website doing the couch to 5k program. You can probably find any number of threads where people are starting a burn and want to do a support thread. Basically you would start the program with other people. The best advice I could give, which nobody gave me, because I didn't ask is MAKE SURE…
  • I know it is deceptively simple, but just decide that you don't care what "they" think. Who are "they" anyway? My "they" are the dudes down the street who I jog past every other day, while they sit in their garage drinking beer. I decided that I don't really care what "they" think. It's very freeing... Congrats on the…
  • Tonight I warmed up a bit, then did a small bit of stretching, then did a nice full stretch at the end. I also increased my intake of water today, and ensured that I took all of my vitamins before I went on the program, as well as two ibuprofen. I have not gotten the solution for the potassium yet. My calves are sore, but…
  • Hey thanks everybody. I just wanted to let you know that I have read your posts, and I definitely did not think about the hydration angle. It's true, I don't drink enough water. I don't know if I can manage a banana, but i am going to check to see if there are some other options out there. I know that broccoli and avacado…
  • That is terrible that you all had to be the recipient of such bad manners! It doesn't matter if someone has gained 400 pounds, you don't say "gee have you gained weight?". The nerve of people...
  • On this site, you're really only committed to yourself. There's no trainer standing over your shoulder saying "c'mon just do 10 more" and no doctor saying "ok, now what do you suppose we can do about your weight?". It's all about you. You can join a group if you want more accountability or you can just track. It's just…
  • I log mine every time. I have a bowflex here at home. I also pretty much do the same circuit every time, I just have to remember how many reps I have done on each work out. Also I don't think MFP has a distinction between types of crunches so I have to remember if I do oblique crunches during my work out to add those in to…
  • I personally like muscle milk if you're just going by taste. Plus they always make me feel good after a long grind.
  • I heard the same question asked of a fitness expert and running/jogging always comes back as the number one best way to tighten the skin around your abdominal area. I started Couch to 5 k this week, so I can't tell you yet if that is true, but I am sure hoping. I gained 80 with both of my children. Lost it, no problems…
  • I got mine off of craigslist for a pretty deep discount. It has been totally worth every penny
  • I use ground turkey any way I would use ground beef. I craved (and ate) a turkey burger tonight, but my favs are turkey chili and turkey meatl0af - a healthy change to comfort foods :) good luck!
  • Feel Free to add me! I'm really motivated to lose the weight, and I enjoy encouraging other people too :)
  • When I have been fit in the past I have always had, even pre-kids, a little pouch on my lower abdomen and a teeny weeny chest. At least they were perky. Now that I have had a couple of kids by c-section, I have the proverbial muffin top, and now my breasts are not only small but they are no longer as perky as they once…
  • I have the wii fit as well. is the EA Active available for Wii? duh, I guess I could google it.
  • I'm having the same problem, and I got a good suggestion from another thread - start adding some higher calorie cooking aids in like butter and oil and that will help you meet your calories. also nuts are pleasantly high in calories, and you don't really have to eat too many of them to add 100-200 calories to your day.…
  • I don't see any bible in the recipe. Is it just for garnish?
  • Have you considered a heart rate monitor? I'm to understand those are the most accurate method of tracking calories, and I also read in other areas of the forum that they can be purchased at Wal-Mart for a little under $50, and that those are pretty good in comparison to some more expensive models. It's all heresay though,…
