I agree with hockeymom - I think calling it a "cheat day" makes it almost a negative reinforcement for our old lifestyles. We have to find a way to LIVE and be healthy while we are living, right? It takes 21 days to change a habit, and that's really what we're doing right? If we don't change the habits we have with food,…

14.13 on 8/10 total miles I am having trouble with the ticker I have added 6.54 miles since 8/10 New Total as of 8/17: 20.67 wow I think I am going to have trouble making 50, but I am going to add in some walking at work to try to help with the goal.

Several miles in since last posting. Ticker updated
-
added another mile today. updating ticker. aww man. ticker factory lost my ticker info :(

we got one of the kong tug toys for my pointer mix and he pretty much chewed through it. I think the treat toys and balls would probably be better though!
-
I have a pointer mix and he is absolutely a hellion if he does not get his walk every day. I took him for 2 miles today - maybe a bit too much, even though I didn't start until about 9pm. It took him a while to cool down which I found worrisome. In any case, our walks together have been fantastic. I like having the…

added another 2.04 miles today.

1.25 miles today, updating ticker for totals. It is so hot outside, but I am trying to do a little each day. I generally cut my work out short because I don't want him to overheat. This really is motivating!

I was having a debate with a buddy at work about running barefoot, and I used that exact same line about "cavemen never had shoes" and he retorted - "well cavemen also had a life expectancy of 35, so they probably didn't have to worry too much about tendonitis". I thought it was a good point. That said, how do the five…

so, do I need to post every time I update my ticker, or how does that work? Logged 1.62 Miles today for a total thus far of 3.62 miles since 8/1/2011.
-
I would like to join. My goal is 50 miles for the month of August walking/jogging and I already did 2 miles today. I'll go make a ticker now and add it in to my signature.

$58 is not bad at all...still better than the $100 range I was looking at with nikes. Thanks for the suggestion!

it is definitely a hard habit to break, but I have to agree with some of the other posters. I have just learned to put less food on my plate so that i don't feel guilty. For a while, I used smaller plates so I wouldn't feel compelled to fill every space of the plate with food. Funny how that stuff sticks with you as…

Think of it this way - is it cheaper to make better food choices or to go buy bigger pants?

I'm nearly 33, a wife and mother of 1 with a full time job outside of the home. I've got about 35 pounds to go. Friend me up if you're not already full  Hope everyone has a great week!

well, it's tough to say without knowing your full history, but usually that means change something small in your diet, eat more or less depending on where you're at right now, or add a new cardio move into your routine. It's the small things that will make a big difference when you're close to the end of the race so I hear.

Thanks! I didn't know we could get that on Netflix. I usually just use the on Demand exercise TV from my cable.

guys, I'm guilty. I think I said something that I should not have said to my cousin. She got one of the surgeries, and she told me she lost 150 pounds and that she still had close to 100 left before she would go into maintenance mode. I really was trying to be encouraging when I said "wow that's a person!" I guess that…

there's another formula for that which I found on the livestrong website. I don't remember what it is off the top of my head, but it has something to do with weight, age, and resting heartbeat I think.

You are all beautiful.

Thank you! I thought I was the only one...I did not lose a single pound until after I stopped breastfeeding
-
i definitely prefer to work out at night, after I put my 16 month old to bed. She's still fairly young, not too far removed from breastfeeding, and she sometimes wakes up pretty early. So I would really have to be out of bed by about around 5am...I don't even like to say the words. As to what you said about not losing…

love the progression photos...congratulations! I have to ask - did you intentionally wear the same outfit in different sizes or did it just work out that way? LOL I'm so nosy, I thought it was a really dramatic way to show the weight loss though. "Here's what this outfit looks like at this size"...and so on. Anyway, what a…

I have heard it said that if you want to be successful you have to surround yourself with people that share the same goals. Feel free to add me as a MFP friend if you would just like one more. Living healthy is not just about our weight, it's in our heads too, so negative attitudes have no place in our lives if we are…

Definitely dry them after the parboil. That seems to kill most, if not all, of the smell. I can see how some folks might not be able to get past the texture. They're a little bit more al dente than what most of us are accustomed to. Very good stuff though, unless like our friend above, you have a tummy that is sensitive to…

try PB2 if you're peanut butter luver. good protein and only 45 cals per serving. It also comes in a chocolate PB flavor that is nothing short of divine...
