Never mind... Posted on the wrong thread!!

Thank you. I was looking for something like this today. I also ran across a website that groups people into different body types, which I thought was interesting... bodybuilding.com/fun/ask-the-ripped-dude-magical-macronutrient-ratio-for-fat-loss.html I would consider myself a meso-endomorph, and the ratios do pretty well…

I LOVE MFP's new tool that lets you copy and paste a link and it will find the ingredients for you. I cook almost everyday and thankfully, most recipes (sometimes with variations) can be found online with a simple search of food.com or allrecipes.com Even if the amounts are different, you can change the quantities and…

Yep, I have a severed ligament and my ortho insisted that I bicycle to strengthen the knee. Edited to fix typo.

Do you have any symptoms of a hormonal imbalance? I'm not a fan of the Atkins diet, since everyone I know personally has regained the weight. But, for hormone issues, I'd definitely recommend decreasing your percentage of carbs (as in cut them in half) and increasing your good fat and protein for a while. That will give…

I'm no expert on this, since my husband and kids are constantly active and don't need to think about their weight, but I watch other families with similar problems as yours, and I think you're onto something! If you could make "just enough" of the more calorie dense foods (so that they don't get the feeling that they're on…

He's always on time. Maybe not OUR time, but always in HIS time! Thank you for the encouragement!

I LOVE cottage cheese! I could eat it with just about anything, I think. (Ok, maybe not ice cream....) I like to add it as a side to almost any main meal that has a tomato-ey or spicy sauce in it. We also like it with pizza (my husband and kids actually put it ON their pizza sometimes!), and different casseroles. Like…

Because I eat back my exercise calories and try to look at the big picture (with an aim for an overall deficit for the week instead of each day making or breaking me), I can be a little more relaxed, with the understanding that I must pay for what I eat above my calorie limit. There are some things that I feel are worth…

I think most people with PCOS would totally relate with the initial success and then hitting a brick wall. It stinks. I had hormonal issues as well, and I'm going to have to agree with whoever told you to eat more. I was in the same boat as you and came to a standstill after the first 5 or so pounds. One of my friends…

I can't see your diary, but I had that problem when I wasn't eating enough calories. On the advice of a friend, I bumped up my calories and made my workouts count (as in,... sweat every time) and after a while, the weight started coming off and I've been maintaining for over a year (with only a slight gain that I'm…

I have one of those snow cone makers that grind up ice cubes, and when my bananas get too ripe to enjoy fresh, I grind up some ice and throw it in the blender with a ripe banana, a spoonful of peanut butter and enough milk to make it thin enough to drink. It ends up being a very healthy and yummy banana milkshake.

Sounds like something I need to try! Thanks!

When I was logging my food, I like to use the sedentary rate and add my exercise calories in. I don't feel comfortable at the TDEE, since I don't exercise everyday. For the past several months, I've stopped logging calories and let the scale be a guide. If it starts going up, then I re-evaluate what I've been eating and…

Since you've been maintaining for a year and a half, you probably have a pretty good pattern. If you don't feel comfortable with the calculator's number, I think I would take your total calories eaten over the last two weeks and divide by 14 to get an average daily calorie figure. It would interesting to see how close it…

Do you know your TDEE number? That should be your AVERAGE total calories burned per day based on your average weight and activity level. If you use the TDEE method, you don't eat back exercise calories and you have the flexibility of moving the calories around to give yourself room for special days or weekends. I like this…

Yes! This! The whole point of losing is to become healthy and not be a slave to food so that you can enjoy LIFE. It takes 3500 calories to equal a lb., so I don't think you're going to blow anything with one meal. If you're not able to work it into your day's allowance, you can make up for the extra calories over the next…

I made this last night and it got a huge thumbs up from the whole family! Since I didn't have time to plan ahead for the crockpot, I roasted the sweet potatoes with a little oil and seasoning salt in the oven for 20-25 minutes until they were tender while I was browning the meat and veggies on the stove. Then I threw…

Thanks... I'm going to try this tonight! (although I'm roasting the potatoes, so that I can do it on the stove.) I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out!

Well, that would be great for those of us who are vertically challenged! LOL But no... In fact... as you lose weight, your clothes might get LONGER (since they don't have as many curves to work around), which makes it feel like you're getting shorter!! I had to get rid of some of my clothes because they became too long as…

I never really thought about it. Since I have no time or interest in working out endlessly, I guess I do tend to keep moderation in the back of my mind throughout the day and have made some healthier trades in my lifestyle. But, I never feel like I'm depriving myself. I have daily sweet treats and allow myself anything I…

Ooh... this sounds really good! Thanks!

I also gradually increased my calories. Because I don't really want to eat a ton, I also found that I needed to lower the amount of time I exercise, which was a little scary! I would add 50-100 calories per week and keep it there for a week or two and then increase again, either until you stop losing or you reach your max…

Mmm... Sounds great! Thanks!

 Although my husband generally stays out of the kitchen and we have an amazingly happy marriage, that is not the reason we're happy. I respect him and try to make him happy, God being my Helper. He does his best to make me feel cherished and happy. Household responsibilites are just necessary evils. We split them in…

My apologies for mis-interpreting... Like bcattoes, I stopped reading after the first few lines, so I only got as far as needing to include lean protein! I don't disagree that your experience might be helpful to some, but the broad mandate, "you MUST", tends to ruffle feathers since there's no cookie cutter recipe for…

Oh, I can relate! After my 3rd baby and enough time had passed that I should have lost most of the weight, I couldn't tell anyone my weight because I was very embarrassed. My husband did ask me, but I didn't tell him until I felt more comfortable with it myself. For me, it was terrible being heavier than he was. I think I…

You sound a lot like me the first couple months I started trying to lose weight. Generally, this has been the trend, so that eventually (in the past), the loss was sooooo slow that I ended up giving up. I have children and we eat most of our meals together, so cutting out carbs was totally not sustainable or practical.…

Oh my. This sounds wonderful!

Personal preference... I don't enjoy breakfast and especially not one that includes a lot of protein. I tried it for a few weeks and hated it so I finally decided to do what works for ME, which is eating something light *IF* I eat anything at all. Goal met and exceeded without torturing myself with a breakfast everyday.
