I weigh myself at least once a day, and I love to watch the daily and weekly trends emerge. I log my weight on Thursday, although typically Friday is my lowest weight of the week. Then I hold steady for the weekend and see a little increase on Monday and Tuesday and then start dropping again on Wednesday-Friday. I think…

This. Your body needs time to adjust. Your diary looks pretty good. You'll need calories to maintain your energy for those intense workouts, so don't be afraid to keep eating. Ignore your scales for a couple weeks... They will catch up! Good luck!

Did it also say that based on your daily calorie intake, you may be eating too few calories? As you know, it's important to eat fewer calories than you burn in a day in order to lose weight. 3500 calories is supposed to equal 1 lb., so that's where MFP gets that magic "in 5 weeks" number. But... your body uses a different…

Honestly, I don't see why there is any "controversy" at all. If not having a cheat day works for you, and it doesn't bother you to eat within the box for an indefinite amount of time, then don't have one. But, if a cheat helps you to stay on track for the rest of the week and doesn't doesn't hurt your overall fitness…

Yep, I would agree that eating more would be worth a try. MFP started me at 1200 calories and I stalled out after just a few pounds and the scales wouldn't budge. I had a friend who told me that when that happened to her, she added a couple hundred calories to her daily goal. She also ate back part of her exercise…

How old were you when you got engaged? 19 How long had you been together before getting engaged? 3 years How old were you when you got married? 20 Are you still together (if so, for how long)? Yes! We've been married 15 years, and have been "dating" for almost 20!

I use the Boboli pre-packaged pizza crust and cut it into sections before I put any toppings on it. Then, each family member can put whatever they want on their portion. It's not what I would call "healthy", but a lot healthier and lower calorie than the pizza shop's and it's more fun for the kids to create their own.…

I started at 1200 calories and stalled after the first couple weeks. I raised my calories to 1380 (lowered my goal from 1 lb/week to 0.5 lb/wk) and eat back most of my exercise calories. I try to make sure my NET is always over 1200. What a difference! I don't feel deprived because I have more calories to work with and…

Haha! That's what I thought when I read the title! I'm a WAHM with a home business, so although I do contribute to the family income, my schedule is still partly controlled by the needs of my children. I think most SAHM would agree that some days that "control" aspect can get to you. Especially with small children, even…

^^^This. I'm not sure that everyone works the same, but, for me, there was a fine balance between eating too little (effectively causing my body to resist losing fat) and eating too much (causing an excess that my body stored as fat). 1200 calories was too low for me, without even factoring in exercise calories. When I…

If you're burning an extra 300 cals per day, I would definitely advise eating at least 1500 cals per day to be sure that your NET (calories eaten minus exercise calories burned) is at least 1200 calories. If you're not able to eat a large amount of food, maybe you could try changing some of what you do eat to a little more…

Yes! At 5'1 with about 25 lbs. to lose, MFP started me at 1200 cals. After about 5 lbs, I hit a brick wall and could not move the scales. A friend of mine suggested adding calories, because that is what worked for her. I changed my weekly goal from 1 lb/week to 0.5 lb/week, effectively raising my calorie limit by about 180…

If it fits your calories (and macros, if you worry about them!), then enjoy! I usually have peanut butter daily! I love PB! :)

Hmmm.... The problem with accepting all the friend requests is that it takes time to be a good friend. Someone with 100+ friends probably doesn't have time to pay attention to your daily activities, along with everyone else's. I have only about 40, and honestly, some days I don't even have time to be supportive for all of…

To each his own, but I can tell you that Splenda has a terrible effect on me. I suppose everyone's body reacts differently, but I personally will not (on purpose) use Splenda or any other artificial sweetener. I ate something made with Splenda (which I didn't know at the time) on Thursday and Friday and suffered all…

This is the reason I do. Well, that and I love to eat! When I didn't eat back my exercise calories, weight loss stalled. I upped my calories again and started losing. I look better, feel better and get to eat more!! Win-Win-Win!!!!

Not anymore!!! Yay for MFP!

I'm a 36 yo girl and I say "ditto" to what she said!

Haha! True! I tried eating a big breakfast because "everyone" said it was necessary. It ended up being kind of torturous, so I gave up on the conventional wisdom and opted for something I wanted to continue for the rest of my life. I'm not much of a breakfast person, so tend to go with a homemade mocha (unless I happen to…

Definitely worked for me!! (and for the friend that recommended it to me) MFP had set me at 1200 cals per day for 1 lb/week loss, but it was pretty much a fail after the first few pounds. So I lowered my weekly goal to 0.5 lbs., effectively giving myself an extra 150-200 cals AND started eating back all but 100-200 of my…

Loved this and couldn't agree more!

I can totally relate! My Polar FT4 gives me about 75% of the calories on the treadmill, with an average HR of about 160. Some of my friends have crazy burns doing the same amounts of time, which doesn't seem quite fair! But, I'm losing and that's what counts. I still get to eat 1500-1650 cals, and I feel good and am…

Thankfully for me, my husband didn't think it was an excuse! Granted, 25 lbs overweight is not huge, but he knew I hated all 25 of them...LOL... and he loved the real "me" that was under them, even when it was hard to love myself. You wouldn't understand hormonal imbalance unless you know someone who's struggled with it.…

I'll second that kids have a big effect on women's weight gain! My husband was 19 when we got married and only weighed 120 lbs, so yes, he definitely gained! Part of it was because he wasn't finished developing yet. Part of it was that I packed his lunch every day and cooked dinner every night, and he happens to think I'm…

I know some people do not eat back their exercise calories and end up with a deficit, but many of the successful people I know eat back most or all of them. Personally, if I allow myself to net below 1200 calories too many days in a row, it slows down my weight loss. MFP started me at 1200 cal/day, and I actually increased…

From what I understand, that is another term for partial ovarian failure, but I have never known anyone that has it.
-
I agree with this. I really didn't start making progress until I started eating more than MFPs recommended 1200 calories AND eating back most of my exercise calories, so now I get to enjoy 1500-1600 calories AND enjoy weight loss. It's a win-win! I don't know if it works for everyone, but it can't hurt to try it for a few…

Whew! For a minute, I thought you really did think men were dumb! I'm so glad that wasn't true! It's time we start telling them what they do right! :flowerforyou:

From my experience, as long as you're eating enough to convince your body to give up the weight, but not eating so much that it doesn't keep storing what you eat as fat, then eventually you will lose weight *unless* you have a metabolic/hormonal problem that requires medication or some tweaks in your macros. ( i.e. People…
