My husband weighed 420 pounds. Today he weighs 208. We have been working with a personal trainer 2x a week for 13 months. We have been working out for 6 days a week for the last 56 weeks! They (trainers at the gym) have been using the little machine to monitor our body fat percentages. Assuming those machines are somewhat…

Yes, you CAN gain muscle on a calorie deficit! My husband and I both have done so. I think it depends on how much weight you have to spare. I started out at 310 pounds. I had a lot of "calories" already stored that my body could use for this. As far as how much you can gain? IDK, I'd say I've probably gained at least 15…

I used the body fat percentage calculator you listed, it is horribly wrong. 23% more than the calculator on my scales.

Thank you! Yes, I have done that many times. Trying different combinations of calories...decreasing and increasing with 0 results. I finally set it to maintainence last week. Thought I havent tried that yet. Why not!?!? Maybe I need to do maintainence for a while then maybe reduce calories again. Perhaps my body will…

If I calculate my TDEE based on working out 6-7 days per week...Yes it is close to this. However, I did not work out during this time period.

Ok, thanks! I'll do some research on that.

I have been stuck in a 5 month plateau. Its driving me nuts! I'm wondering if this could possibly be the reason...

I'm 5'3 and I currently weigh 230. I've lost 80 pounds so far but been in a bit of a rut for the last 5 months. I haven't lost anything. My goal weight is 175. I don't remember the last time I weighed 175.

Dated my husband for 5 years before we married. We have been married 10 years now. I agree, if you are unsure then you arent ready. You will know 100% when the time is right.

I started at 310 pounds and I am 5'3. I was wearing a 30/32 or a 4X in tops and 26/28 in pants. I am currently at 230 pounds wearing a 20/22 in tops and 18/20 in pants. My goal weight is 175 currently. That may change as I get closer and set new goals.

Oh my goodness! Thats what I thought she said, but I thought surely I heard her wrong!

I have been on a 5 month plateau! Still havent made any progress in it. Ive tried slightly increasing my calories, slightly decreasing them and changing my workouts. I still keep losing and gaining the same 2 pounds. Good luck!

I agree on the water retention. You will not gain muscle that quickly. Are you sore? If you are, your muscles are retaining water to help with the healing process. Weigh again after the soreness fades.

From Nashville, it is short for "You all". It is plural only, 2 or more people. We do not use it when referring to one person only. "What are y'all doing this weekend?" "Hope y'all have a great day!" I say it regularly, just comes natural being I've lived in Nashville my whole life. See y'all!

It is very overwhelming when you first start. We would spend hours in the grocery store comparing labels and trying to figure out what to buy. We now buy very little processed foods. Nothing frozen (other than plain veggies) or anything that comes from a box. We shop mostly around the outter edges of the store. I buy…

My opinion is this....you don't have to have sex with a man to know that you like men. The attraction is there. It's the same with a woman. You don't have to have to sex with them to know that you like them. The attraction is there. A straight man does not have to have sex with a female to know he is straight. He knows he…

Take them back! I just bought a pair of Brooks and they fit great from the beginning.

I do log accurately. I weigh and measure my foods. I haven't had my thyroid checked since September. I went in complaining that I was tired. My levels then were on the high side of normal and I was missing pills here and there. Doctor said I needed to make sure I got 30 pills in every 30 days. I have been taking them,…

I do drink my water, I just don't log it since it doesn't contribute to my calorie intake. Water and milk are the only two things I drink.

Stay away from processed foods and tada! Sodium levels stay low...

That is another issue, I have started getting dizzy and nauseous. Its happened for the last couple of weeks during my more intense workouts. Seems strange that all the sudden, I've been feeling this way.

^^^^This! ^^^^ If I'm hungry, I eat. My body can only go so long with reduced calories. If I have a day where I'm unusually hungry, I figure my body is needed something a little extra and thats what I give it. Long as it's healthy foods, I eat it until I'm no longer hungry.

The younger you are, the better. Lose your weight at a slow and steady pace. I use cocoa butter everyday. Also be sure to do some toning exercises. The older you are and the longer you have had the weight, the harder it is to prevent the skin.

I have always had an allergy to alcohol. After just a few sips, my lips go numb, I get blood red and blotchy and so so hot! Never heard of someone developing it before though. Perhaps as we get older, we just cant handle what we could when we were younger? Are you eating healthier? Has it been a while since you have had…
