Thanks for the advice! I'm kind of a weenie so bodyweight exercises are quite hard for me. I will continue with doing what I'm doing and for now not add anything else.

I'm no expert, but I've been doing YAYOG for a while now, and I know that if I go too long without working one muscle group, I'm much more likely to be sore after the workout. For that reason alone, I try to hit each muscle group twice a week. I would think for someone who can't work out as often full body workouts would…

The only way you can grow taller is by taking growth hormones, and even those only work if you haven't stopped growing yet. I've never heard of anyone being able to get taller after reaching adult height.

I sometimes feel like I'm not trying hard enough.....maybe that's what you mean? Then I feel guilty when I skip a workout, because I know I would reach my fitness goals better if I didn't skip the workouts. I'm about in the same spot as you, wanting to lose fat on only my stomach and nowhere else. Unfortunately I think…

I'm 5'4" and 124 pounds, MFP has me maintaining at 1540 net calories. I have a desk job but do exercise enough to earn some extra calories, most days I average 1700-1800 calories. Any more than that, though, and I gain. I have a TINY frame and little muscle mass, so don't want to gain anything but muscle at the moment.

I do have major problems with bloating. I've cut/reduced some of the things I know trigger it (like apples) but I guess maybe I need to make note of the days it's really bad and see what kinds of foods I ate on those days to see if there's a pattern. I have irritable bowel as well so some days it doesn't matter what I eat,…

I hope so! You look great, by the way.

I think it may just be my shape.....the weight training has been doing wonders for my legs/butt, but hasn't flattened my stomach any (although my abs are like steel under the fat!). I'm liking my new lower half and don't want to change that at all so I guess if I have to choose I'll keep the new butt.

I've been getting great results with exercises from the book "You are your own gym". There is a good variety of body weight exercises that can be done with no special equipment.

Just the other day I had a co-worker comment when I got peanut butter cups out of the vending machine. She is on Weight Watchers and has been forever, and is very health-conscious. We talk about weight a lot because we are both interested in staying healthy. We are also both at very healthy weights. She said "You're not…

See a doctor would be my advice. This sounds like a lot of sudden symptoms.

What an inspiration!

That's awesome! It sounds like you have a really good plan. My grandma quit smoking cold turkey. She told me that she decided she would go as long as she possibly could without a cigarette, but if she got to where she felt like she was going to die without one she would have one. Then she said, "I guess I never got to that…

Glad to see so many people liked Firefly. Still can't figure out why that show ended so soon.

I would like to see this also! I'm working on mine but progress not yet visible.

Thank you!! I was going to say the same thing. I also got picked on every day for being skinny, several times a day, for 5 years of my life. Like literally being surrounded by a very intimidating crowd of boys on the playground in middle school while they laughed at my "bones". Don't tell me it was a compliment--I was…
-
I think this is pretty true.....almost all the negative body shaming I got was from women.
-
I have seen this really escalating lately. The "REAL women have curves" and "only dogs like bones" are things I seem to see several times a day now. As someone who was constantly bullied for being underweight in school, I am a little sensitive to it. I would never dream of walking up to someone and telling them point-blank…

Thanks. I'm fine with slow, I guess I'm just not sure I'm doing it right. I'm liking the results so far. I guess I might try a small cut soon and maybe then I will be more happy with it.

My maintenance is 1540 so that is what I'm shooting for. Some days I eat up to 1800 though depending on how much I exercise. I worry that if I cut calories I will stop building muscle and I don't want to do that.

Your measurements are almost the same as mine and I wear the same sizes as you most of the time, depending on brand......I too have given up looking by size and just go by what fits, since the sizing seems so random. I used to fit juniors better because I wasn't "curvy" at all, but since I started trying to build muscle…

I've been gaining muscle using only bodyweight exercises. I've only gained about 3 pounds in 2 months, but I feel like it's all muscle because my measurements are the same and I can FEEL the new muscle. I was skinny all my life until I hit about 30, never really had much muscle at all. I got the book "You are your own gym"…

I hate most cardio, except walking, although Zumba can be fun. I like yoga. I have been doing bodyweight exercises lately and like doing that (because I can do it while I watch tv) and I LOVE the results I'm getting from it. So far it's the only exercise I've ever done where I can actually see and feel the difference in my…

I don't know the answers to most of your questions, but I do know it doesn't matter what time of day you eat. It's how many calories. I have to eat a bedtime snack every night ( I can't sleep if I'm even a little bit hungry) and it hasn't hurt my attempts to lose weight. What does hurt is going over the calories.

I've been doing body weight exercises for about 2 months now and it's been great. I got the book "You are your own gym" and love it. It has exercises from easy to very difficult.

I start where the tape measure begins. But I am always the one doing the measuring, so that shouldn't be affecting anything. Once a year my employer requires a "health assessment" for the insurance, where they weigh and measure. They always get about 2 inches less than me, but they pull the tape measure really tight!

My stomach area is the worst for me. I started strength training about 2 months ago (using body weight only for now) and I am really seeing a difference in the belly.

Do you only weigh once a week? Did you weigh yourself before or after the surgery? Without having more information, seems like the surgery could have something to do with it. Also, it's pretty much not possible to gain 5 pounds of actual fat in one week. It's likely just a temporary spike that will go away in a few days.

My husband only eats one meal a day because he says he is only hungry once a day. However: 1) His one meal is huge, more like all three meals at once. 2) He runs about 6 miles a day, but despite that and only eating once a day he is gaining weight. 3) His hands shake a lot, which his doctor said was caused by his eating…
