I am 5'4" and used to be naturally very thin. When I was 102 pounds, that was too thin. right now I range from 115 to 120 and it seems good to me. As long as you are healthy and are happy, that is what really matters. Although recently I have started strength training (have no muscle at all) and I LOVE it. I'm gaining…

I've been doing bodyweight exercises for about 2 months now and I am really feeling a difference. I am a totally weenie with almost no muscle so it's quite challenging enough for me. I would recommend the book "You are your own gym". It gives tons of great exercises from really easy to REALLY hard, and ways to modify them…

I've noticed that too. Sometimes i think it's just because I gain so much in water, etc. the week or two before, and then it just all comes off at once.

My city has dance classes for adults. I have taken several, and it is a lot of fun and great exercise. I say go for it if there is a place near you that offers it!

Thanks! I guess I am still making progress so I must be doing okay.
-
Awesome! That is exactly what I'm trying to do! Hope I have that kind of result.

I weigh myself every day, and always first thing in the morning. If I weigh at different times of the day it is not as reliable.....I used to weigh more often (I was a little scale-obsessed) and I would see my weight fluctuate as much as 3 pounds over the course of 1 day. I recommend always weighing right away in the…

I would say go to your guidance counselor if your parents can't or won't help, or to another trusted family member. If those are not options, there are hotlines and websites that might be able to help you out. Please get help.

Well, this is free, so that is an advantage! I do know many people who have lost on Weight Watchers, but I don't think it's any more effective than counting calories.

I eat one or two of them a week. The portions are a little small, but I usually snack frequently anyway so that's okay for me. I actually like quite a few of them, they're great for when I'm the only one home and I"m cooking for only myself.

This topic is making my want McDonald's. Mmmmmm.......fries.......

I have the opposite problem.....my arms look like matchsticks (seriously, I look like I could break my arm by knocking it against a wall lightly) but I can't get rid of my gut.
-
I think this may be the problem.....she knows she can have you anytime but she doesn't get as much time with others so they are a novelty to her. Although I do confess to quitting my job and taking my son out of daycare when he started to seem to prefer the day care provider to me....

I would love to know where the tiny girls are supposed to shop because my daughter is one! She's too big for girls sizes but the smallest junior sizes are huge on her. She has a very limited wardrobe at the moment.

Clothing patterns are the same way. I sew costumes, and I usually have to use the size 12 pattern even though I normally wear a size 4-6.

I don't weigh my food because of concern about what my family would think. I have three teenagers who are all underweight (as I was at their age) and since I'm not overweight they would probably think I'm crazy for doing it. I'm managing to maintain my weight quite well without it so far....I generally just assume I'm off…

It seems to me that lately the "fat acceptance" thing is swinging a little too far the other way, and all of the sudden people are slamming skinny people left and right. If I hear "real women have CURVES" one more time I'm going to scream! We should be accepting of ALL body types. The main goal should really be health…

Yoga is good. It builds strength and you can start at a beginner level and work up to the harder poses. It's not cardio though, it's not going to really get your heart rate up. It's more for strength. It will help build your muscles. It helps me a lot with back pain.

I'd love to hear answers to this as well. I'm 5' 4", 118 pounds and have a belly and back fat. In my case, though, I really don't have much muscle to speak of at all. I've just started strength training so I'm hoping that will make a difference. Technically I'm not overweight at all, but at 118 pounds I should be wearing a…

I suppose cutting out certain foods completely may work faster in the short term, but the way you're doing it is more sustainable. Nobody can cut out things like cake and ice cream FOREVER.

I had a similar experience many years ago, my fiancee had cancer and I completely lost my appetite for months while caring for him and then mourning his loss. I was probably a few weeks/months after he passed that I started eating normally again, much to the relief of friends and family (I got down to about 85 pounds; I…

I've been wondering about this as well because I've just started trying to recomp but don't get how you can gain muscle and lose fat.

This is kind of odd, I didn't know MFP would automatically change your calorie goals. I have changed my activity level several times since getting on MFP and it hasn't changed.....when I wanted to change it, I had to go in and do it manually. I would actually rather do it manually anyway, it kind of bothers me that MFP…

I can't win with my family. If I watch what I eat around them, they tease me for "eating like a bird", and go on and on about how miserable it seems to have to watch everything I eat. (Oh, and I'm also "insane" for exercising regularly). So last time my mom visited, I threw caution out the window and ate whatever I wanted…

I agree about not needing to go to the gym. There are plenty of exercises that can be done at home. Also, something I do is not keeping junk food around my house. Then if I feel like I need to have a snack (even though I'm not hungry!) I end up having something that is at least relatively healthy, like an orange or a bowl…

I have the opposite issue. I'm 5' 4" and 118 pounds, but I look heavier. I have a TINY frame (My mom says I have bones like a bird) and pretty much no muscle, and carry all my weight on my midsection. So even at only 118 pounds I have a gut and back fat, even though my arms and legs are like matchsticks. I wear a size 4-6…

Eating out rarely, and planning for it by making my other meals/snacks low-cal that day. Not eating unless I'm actually hungry. Don't eat until I'm FULL, eat until I'm not hungry anymore. Exercise. And, of course, logging. I think that really is the most important since I really think we just don't realize how much we're…

Not having sugary cereals for breakfast. They just have no staying power, and I would be hungry again an hour later. Substituted eggs, toast or oatmeal and mornings are much better now.
-
I lost 20 pounds, went from a tight size 8 to a size 4. I carry most of my weight in my stomach, so I only had to lose about 5 pounds to go down a size.

Thanks! I will start with lower body right away, and look for upper body things that won't bother my wrist. Protein shouldn't be a problem...my husband (the cook in our family) is a real meat lover.
