  • I've been looking into this a lot lately. Fishgutzy is correct - you can't find any truly waterproof Bluetooth headphones. I used to have a SwimP3, but it recently died. I also got tired of converting iTunes music files or any other downloaded music to MP3 files before I could use them. Did a bit of research on options.…
  • I'm hesitant to use a waterproof case for my iPhone because I've read horror stories about them not working and don't want to shell out another $700 for a new phone. I use a SwimP3 and love it. Sound quality is pretty good - better than plain waterproof ear buds. And since I swim in an Endless Pool, I'd be bored to tears…
  • Use a gear that feels comfortable to start with, and you'll be able to improve over time. Your bike probably has between 1-3 gears in the front and multiple gears in the back. The "easiest" will be using the smallest gear in the front and the biggest gear in the back. Depending on your bike, the gears may or may not be…
  • 1. 3,000 outdoor miles in 2016 2. At least one century ride 3. Take the road bike with me to NC and find somewhere new to ride 4. Make it to Utah earlier in the year (instead of a snowy November), so I can MTB Moab 5. Buy a "real" MTB and learn to ride without getting scared of everything or flipping over the handlebars
  • I completed the entire NROLFW program but I wasn't thrilled with all of the accessory work. After looking for something a bit more "basic" I ended up with SL and I really enjoy it. I like the big basic lifts, and I like the app they have for my phone to track workouts, weights, reps, history, etc. I don't mind the rows,…
  • Consider it a compliment, PopPop! The young'un was proud of himself for besting his master! Own it!!
  • Here!! And there's a nice group out there called "Bicycling - Road and Mountain" with some good MFPeeps. But I'm mainly here for the bike porn....that's an awfully perty bike in your profile pic
  • Congrats on the NSV!!! I know the feeling - I was thrilled the first time I flipped over my MTB handles face first into a giant mud puddle! Took pictures, posted them here, the whole nine yards. Congrats to you and welcome to the world of cycling!!
  • In general, I think MFP tends to overestimate calories burned. I use a Polar FT4 HRM while I swim because it is waterproof. I usually swim freestyle in an Endless Pool and burn about 180 calories for a 30-minute swim with no breaks, no flip turns, no pushing off, etc.
  • Saw this recently in the TdF (maybe around stage 5?). Bunch of guys all stopped at once to pee and the cameras caught it. Made me giggle
  • So true...I had a chance to try a gorgeous Midleton Extra Rare (2012) recently. Stopped in a shop in Dublin just to check out some prices, and some of the earlier vintages of it were upwards of $3,000 per BOTTLE!!

  • Hmm...I think I've tried almost everything listed in this thread (bourbon and whiskey in general are my one big vice). My current favorites are Eagle Rare and Hudson's Baby Bourbon. After a trip to Ireland a few weeks back, I've also developed a fondness for Irish Whiskey - specifically Redbreast 12 and Bushmill's…

  • These are both great!! And so familiar! My first road bike wreck was a few years ago...riding my bike alone in the neighborhood. I was run off the road by some asshat in a pickup truck who was paying more attention to his phone than the road. I jumped up on the curb to avoid getting stuck in the grill of a pickup truck,…
  • I can proudly say that aside from being run off the road by an a$$hat in a pickup truck, I've never taken a fall from my road bike, even when first getting used to clipless pedals. Mountain biking is quite the different story. I decided to give it my very first go last weekend...using a totally inappropriate hybrid bike,…
  • Sweet baby Jesus...I think I need to go to the store and get some Nutella and fluff immediately!! Pssht....yeah I'm in my pajamas, but I don't give a damn!

  • Italian French British Irish Spanish Australian I'm sure there's more!! A friend/coworker of mine speaks speaks Spanish and I've been known to call his voice mail just to hear him say his name - that R roll is sexy as hell!! I have another friend who is Australian and I make him call me all the time and "talk Aussie to me"!
  • I eat Egg Beaters almost every day. For me, they fit better into my macros than whole eggs and they are tastier than just egg whites. Take a look at the ingredients - they are 99% egg whites. Some added vitamins and minerals, spices, added flavor and color, but nothing that makes me cringe. Granted I'm not a total freak…
  • I'm totally embarrassed to admit it was Milli Vanilli back around 1990 or so when I was in high school. Followed shortly after by another embarrassing Vanilla Ice concert. What can I say, my best friend liked all that crap and dragged me along to the concerts. At least I refused to go see NKOTB with her!!
  • Frozen banana (usually half a banana), 3/4 cup frozen blueberries, 1 cup light vanilla almond milk or 1 small box of ready-to-drink light vanilla muscle milk, 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder. The frozen fruit gives you a delicious milkshake consistency. Or I use my protein shake in place of creamer in my morning coffee.…
  • Wow - my goals are very beginner level compared to what I'm reading here!! This summer, I'd like to do at least one century ride. The closest I got last summer was about 70 miles. And since I've been reading Obsessive Compulsive Cycling Disorder (a really fun read!), I think I'd like to give mountain biking a try - so a…
  • I'm in the same boat. I bought a trainer for my road bike; and between that and an elliptical and treadmill, I never use the old recumbent anymore. I'd like to sell it to make room for something I'd get more use out of now (like a squat rack!). Maybe now's the time to list it on CL and see what I can get for it!
  • I use a SwimP3 which I love. Specifically because it doesn't have earbuds - which I can't get to stay in my ears even on land! Instead the "earphones" sit on your cheekbones and you hear the music through bone conduction. It's a very clear sound even underwater and I'd be lost without it!
  • Been there, ate that :drinker: Seriously, I have the same issue with bingeing on things that I know are bad for me. If I go into the grocery store in the right mindset, I can avoid buying those trigger foods. Other times, I tell myself "it'll be different this time - you'll be able to control yourself" and I buy the…
  • Lacoste Essential Sport is very yummy on the right guy. Armani Code is another really nice one. I bought it for my GBF once and he wears it whenever we go out drinking and dancing. I always tell him that it's a good thing he's gay or else I'd totally jump him when he's wearing it! But my all-time favorite is just a nice…
  • SOOO many things!! But the biggest secret I've kept from them....that I had a baby when I was 19 and placed him for adoption
  • I've been on two sides of the adoption triangle - I was adopted as an infant and I was a birth mother who placed my baby for adoption when he was born. I met my birth parents when I was pregnant with my son; and my son's adoptive parents have made me a part of his life since he was born. It definitely gives me an…
  • I used to make a protein shake from protein powder and almond milk, then use that as a creamer for my morning coffee. But in an effort to cut a bit of extra calories, now I just use a splash of the pre-made Muscle Milk protein shakes that I buy in the store. The chocolate shake in my morning coffee is delicious!!
  • This. And, we even had to resort to tying down the tree so it couldn't be toppled over (we had one big kitty who thought it was great fun to knock the whole thing over). They also like to kick everyone out of the manger set and curl up in the creche. Too cute!
  • My current coffee addiction - a really strong Puerto Rican coffee with a nice healthy splash of chocolate muscle milk. Works out to 66 calories, 2 grams of fat, 7 grams of protein. And it's delicious!
  • I've gotten so used to going commando with yoga pants, that now it just seems wrong to do anything else :drinker:
