Excellent post! I see people overestimate all the time and then wonder why they are not making progress. I don't have a HRM so I keep it really conservative and err on the 'light side' when logging my calories burned through exercise. And there are many activities I don't log at all as they're just part of my daily routine…

I'm all for keeping active while at work...it's not good for your health to sit on your butt for long periods of time. I take frequent walks around the office, walk on my lunch, squats, jumping jacks in the bathroom...all sorts of things. Keep the blood pumping......BUT - this is in no way a substitute for a proper work…

I can tell you what works for sure - CALORIE DEFICIT. Avoid gimmicks, fads, shortcuts, cleanses, fast, overly restrictive diets....they do not work for the long run. If you want to lose the weight and keep it off - calorie deficit is the way to go.

Unless there is a medical reason- ditch the low carb 'diet'. Make this a lifestyle, eat a variety of foods, with a healthy calorie intake, watch your portions, log EVERYTHING. Exercise. Stay consistent. Restrictive 'diet's don't work for most people. Enjoy food in healthy portions...it's not the enemy!

Your goal is 3500 calories a day?
-
Maybe you have plans on New Year's Eve and that's the delay of getting started BUT...........There is no time like the present to start a healthy lifestyle!! 'Diets' have fixed dates on the calendar, a holiday comes along and you freak out OMG I have to 'cheat' on my 'diet'. Make this a lifestyle! If most of your days are…

You're 18 years old. I'm guessing sodium and high blood pressure are not an issue for you. Make the chili, eat and enjoy!

Cleanses are unnecessary!! Your body does a fab job at cleansing itself. Especially if you are coming off being sick...please eat healthy and sensibly. Cleanses don't 'kick start' your body...if anything they'll mess you up.

^^^Solid advice!!

Why 10 days?

Enjoying myself to the fullest on Christmas Eve and Day - food, drink, cookies, cheese, wine!!! And then on December 26th going right back to healthy eating and working out. That's my NSV - not allowing one event to completely derail me!

Carbs are not the enemy....eating too much food is the enemy and not having the willpower to say that's enough. It's OK to treat yourself in moderation (2 or 3 cookies is good...the whole package is bad). Maybe try 'getting back on the wagon' and just eat sensibly and healthy and not restrict yourself so much. Stay in your…

Stupid, silly, discriminating, taking advantage of people's insecurities to make a buck (lol I guess that happens in real life all the time). And as everyone said...once you're fit are you tossed out?

I allow for a sweet treat in my calories everyday. My newest fave is Nature Valley protein chocolate and peanut butter bar (190 calories 10 grams of protein) or Dole frozen dark chocolate covered bananas (100 calories). I also have a can of diet soda everyday or I'll chew a piece of gum.
-
I keep it healthy for the most part but allow myself a treat everyday. I usually save 100-200 calories for something sinfully delicious. This is a lifestyle for me, not a diet, I try not to categorize foods as 'good' or 'bad'. I keep everything in moderation, nothing is off limits. Full fat coffee creamer heck yea....but…

Yep I'm with everyone else on here - it could be too many raw veggies. Also - how many calories are you eating a day? If you've drastically lowered your intake and are not eating enough it can make you feel sick.
-
Because some people 'diet', lose weight and then return to those same bad eating habits and gain it back. It has to become a Lifestyle, not a diet. That's why fad diets and restrictive diets don't work well. They don't teach you how you should be eating for everyday life. They do nothing to improve your relationship with…

If I go out with friends and don't feel like drinking - I DON'T. I'll drink pop, juice or water with a lemon. I don't make a big announcement that I'm not drinking alcohol so people don't even notice...I standing around chatting with a beverage in my hand like everyone else. If I go to the movies and want to snack - I'll…

^^^In agreement! I treat myself with one can of diet soda a day!

800 exercise calories everyday is an awful lot. Try to pick a more sustainable goal, that way you are more likely to lose the weight AND keep it off. Use MFP as your guide to figure out how many calories a day you should be eating. (Do not crash diet..you lose fat, muscle, bone, hair and most likely gain it back). Stay…

Merry Christmas!! The best way to get rid of some weight is through calorie deficit. Stay consistent in your calorie goal and you will lose weight. Exercise is a excellent way to help you with your calorie deficit while also making you healthy and fit. Youtube has tons of free workouts. I love Leslie Sansone, Jessica Smith…

I was soooooo naughty! I loved every minute of it!!

Yep, that's my question too?! It is possible to have a healthy caloric intake without starving and depriving yourself!!
-
I didn't log, I just relaxed and enjoyed the day!! I'm guessing I was about 10000000000000 over;))) It was a very good Christmas!
-
I don't need a scale to tell me I ate too much or that if I continue to eat that much I'll have a permanent weight gain. I ate, I enjoyed.....today it's back to business as usual!
-
You are consuming too many calories. The magical key to weight loss is simply CALORIE DEFICIT. Use MFP to calculate your proper calorie intake goal, log every single bite as accurately as possible, stay consistent your calorie goal and the weight will come off. Don't get hung up on a specific timeline or how long will it…

I am so very sorry for your loss. Please do not worry about calories or logging them!! This is a time for grieving, surround yourself with people you love so you can support one another. I've had significant loses in my life.....eating is the last thing on your mind. However as the days go by, life begins to return to…

Relax and enjoy your holidays. Christmas Eve and Day are 2 days out of the year. Just EAT DRINK, BE MERRY AND ENJOY! No one should be putting heavy restrictions on themselves for Christmas! Don't make your lifestyle change a 'dieting punishment'. Dec. 26th it's back to business as usual. As for your cookie in moderation…
