^^^ This exactly. I've seen friends, family and colleagues see-saw, yo yo, give up entire food groups and make extreme changes that are not necessary and ultimately give up because it's not sustainable. If you think you're never going to eat a piece of bread for the rest of your life then by all means carry on with your…

Agree!! It's a apple. It's healthy. Eat one. Log it using what's in the data base and get on with your life. ONE apple = good. 6 apples = excessive. Sometimes you have to put away the scale and use commonsense.

Thank you for sharing your story!!! Congrats on your success! You look fabulous!!!

CONSISTENTLY staying within a healthy calorie deficit.

My tip would be to enjoy your Christmas without so many rigid restrictions. It's one meal!!! I understand if he is a vegetarian...that's a particular lifestyle so I'm not suggesting a meat fest. But cook your veggies dishes and forget the cals and carbs for one meal. The next day you can get right back on track.

I eat the apple and enjoy it and then log it using the MFP data base (small, medium or large).
-
Save your money!! There is no magic dust or quick fixes. Calorie deficit, exercise and consistency will get you there!

Hmmm...Mom is a closet eater/binger?! And burpees, planks, lunges at 213 pounds and 59 years of age is fairly impressive...not saying impossible but with that 'supposed' intensity she is working at AND supposed calorie deficit....she would have lost. Get Mom on MFP, logging her food and exercise, she'll see results.

They don't work....if there was something that simple I would have found it already. Keep on doing what you're doing and you'll see changes over time.

Big Congrats on the 100 pound loss! Seems what you are doing is working. If at such a time it stops working then re-assess your body's needs. Until then...carry on!

If it was me I would enjoy the pizza crust and all and get on with my life. It's not that 'bad' of a meal. And I'm sure you can find something similar in the data base to log it. Don't obsess over not being 100% accurate, it's creates a healthy relationship with food.

I'm hearing a lot of 'when people are watching me', 'when they're not', 'thank goodness my parents only eat once a day' ect ect. My point is - stop dragging everyone else into this and start having control over your own life!! You're still looking for excuses and complications when the simple fact is you don't seem to want…

Sounds like a plan!! There are a ton of low impact workouts free on youtube if you're looking for something light. I love Leslie Sansone and Jessica Smith TV. Or....hey take a nap!! Sometimes we all need one!

It's a gimmick. It's best to invest your time (and money) into healthy food and exercise. It's not complicated - find a healthy calorie goal and stick with it, eat healthy and get some exercise, the weight will come off. Adopt a healthy lifestyle and avoid quick fixes....they don't work.

I think most of us just power through it. I tried to keep my workouts interesting and not do the same old thing over and over again, seems to keep me motivated that way. I also get charged up reading through the forum and going on pinterest and browsing their health and fitness forum...revs me up!! Sometimes you do have to…

You are adding a lot of complicated layers to the issue. It boils down to - Do you want to lose weight? Do you want to be healthy? For yourself first and foremost? And for your child/children? What's all this buzz about guys and dates and babysitters. Sounds like a lot of excuses. Decide how bad you want it and go for it!

Thank god you still have enough strength left to type this post!

Thank you for this post!!!

I gave up over eating and oversized portions. There is no food that is off limits in my book. It's all about moderation and portion control. That being said I do keep it relatively healthy and limit treats to a minimum.

^^^^ yep this.

Sounds like you've lost the weight but still have an unhealthy relationship with food. First - PLEASE stop worrying about what everyone else is doing! Then you need to stop thinking 'diet' and start thinking healthy lifestyle. Find your maintenance calories, eat healthy, reward yourself in moderation and…

135 lbs at 5/9" is a great healthy weight. Stop obsessing with a number on the scale. Focus on body composition. Hit the weights - HARD. 150 squats is impressive but.....to really make a change focus on low reps and heavy weights.

I wish someone would drop off some cookie at my office!!!! My technique - I just allow myself 2 or 3 ...ok sometimes 4. Then I go right back to business as usual. It's a given that my calories are up a bit in December. I just relax, enjoy and don't allow myself to completely derail. And I make sure I get my workouts in!

^^This!

To be healthy....in mind and body.

Eating 'clean' would not be a sustainable way of life for me. I eat healthy most of the time, but if I want a cookie or three I'm not depriving myself!! I believe in moderation, that's what works for me.
