  • Honestly you will never get a definitive answer on this......especially from this forum. It's a great source of major debate on here. Personally for me - I drink it in moderation. 8 to 12 ounces a day. It has never caused me to crave sweets.
  • I must be broccoli intolerant!! Cause peeee uuuuu. Doesn't stop me from eating it!
  • It's a gimmick. Stick to a consistent calorie deficit for weight loss. And a walking program for fitness. End of story.
  • So sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Maybe your body just needs some time to adjust to all the changes it's been going through. Between the medifast diet and miscarriage...that's a lot of stress on your body. I would just be patient and continue to log everything the way you have been doing. Eat healthy, drink lot's of…
  • No, just no. If you want to be successful at weight loss, log every single bite you eat!!! No no no. And one more time NO.
  • Instead of wavering back and forth on the seesaw between 'detox' and pop, junk and cigarettes....why not adopt healthy consistent habits? Everything in moderation!!! Except the cigarettes...yuck nasty. But hey it's your life.
  • ANYTHING eaten in excess is converted to stored body fat. Please just stop.
  • Leslie Sansone Walk at Home DVD's. I love her workouts. Simple and easy to follow. And if you get to a point where you want to make if harder you can add your own stuff into it (burpees, push ups, lunges, squats, kettle bells...whatever, be creative:) She also has a handful of her workouts free on youtube. Another great…
  • ^^^ Hehe yep exactly!! I could give two sh*ts about what people think about my personal eating habits. And you know....once people start to realize that you don't desire their opinion....they stop commenting. Don't even let yourself be played into those conversations. It's your own personal business. Ignore Ignore Ignore!!!
  • In for the Doctor Who reference!!! I keep a stash of fresh fruit, veggies, greek yogurt and string cheese at work. And a large assortment of teas. Geronimo!!
  • Aside from running around and playing with the kiddies - you can also find TONS of free workouts on Youtube. Jessica Smith TV is my fave channel!!
  • ^^^ Yep!!! What this guy said. Ultimately you have to learn to have a healthy relationship with food. If you use MFP to count your calories you can enjoy a variety of foods and not limit yourself to shakes. It will help you develop healthy habits that will last a lifetime!!! ****as far as the fruit smoothie. Beware....that…
  • Oh if only I could be a young kid of 45 again  I'm 55, maintaining a healthy weight, working out 4 to 6 times a week, loving life and living to fullest (as long as I'm in bed by 10;) Any of you 'old' people can feel free to friend me!
  • I looked at your profile. You're married with 3 children. Do you love those kids? Wanna be around to see them grow up and have kids of their own? Then get out there and walk. One foot in front of the other. Set small goals and don't look too far ahead. It's more important to stay consistent rather than worry about…
  • Happy Menopause Ladies!!!! I was successful at maintaining a healthy weight through a sensible diet and exercise for YEARS. Then menopause hit!!!! Where the hell did this spare tire and love handles come from?? It's a certainty that hormonal changes can lower your metabolism and cause weight gain. But I am fighting it with…
  • "I suspect" .....that many understand and go through the same life challenges as you do......and have great success with weight loss and other areas in life. So get off the pity party train. And stop making excuses and improve your attitude. If you're not losing...you're not in calorie deficit.
  • You should not deprive yourself of something you love! Learn to eat it in moderation. I have bread AND pasta everyday!
  • It's been said many times on here - YOU CAN'T OUT TRAIN A BAD DIET. Of course exercise is awesome....but if you're still consuming too many calories you're not going to lose. You need to be consistently in calorie deficit.
  • There are a lot of healthy grab and go foods - fresh fruit (or veggies) hard boiled eggs yogurt (I prefer greek...more protein than regular) cottage cheese string cheese oatmeal protein bars bagel (the whole MFP community collectively gasps - CARBS!!!) Or any kind of food that floats your boat...it does not have to be…
  • Work out at 6:00am Take 5 minutes breaks every hour and move Tell your company that everyone deserves breaks...especially employees working 16 hours a day? Stand while you work
  • Instead of stressing over the impossible and making yourself sick for the special day... why not focus on the possible. I'd be RUSHING to my seamstress for that last minute alteration!
  • My shocker was how many calories I squander on lattes, frapuccinos and all those delicious coffee drinks!!! Not to mention the money I've squandered on them too;) I keep it in moderation now. My bank book and belly are much happier this way:wink:
  • I'm not a morning person! During the work week I work out in the evening when I get home - 7pm-ish. On the weekends is up for grabs...I just make a commitment to git er done!
  • I don't think in terms of a 'diet' with rules and restrictions. I allow myself to eat a variety of foods and nothing is off limits, everything in moderation. I fill my day with healthy functional foods and some not so functional.. just tasty and I stay in my calorie limits. Ask yourself- Am I never in my life going to eat…
  • I'm sorry you're going through this right now! Have you spoken to your Doctor? Are you currently on meds? It would seem your priority right now is getting your mental health stabilized. Exercise is always a good idea. But think in terms of baby steps. Take a walk around the block. Dance like a fool when no one looking…
  • My honest opinion - if you already have a problem as a binge/compulsive eater, having only one meal a day is not going to help you resolve that issue. Starving yourself and avoiding food all day so you can eat all your calories in one meal is not a solution. You need to work towards having a healthy relationship with food.
  • Zero benefits. Your energies would be better spent making better food choices and logging consistently.
  • I find what helps me is NOT jumping back into the routine in complete overkill mode. Over exercising, extreme dieting, eliminating food groups.....it's just a recipe for failure. Ease into it. Set small but consistent goals everyday. Pick a sensible calorie goal and stick to it. Personally I love working out in the comfort…
  • It honestly sounds like you are still working through issues. You should DEFINITELY talk to your Doctor. If you're having trouble meeting your caloric needs maybe your activity level is too high..........perhaps another issue to work through. Do you work out in addition to your job which already burns tons of calories?…
