  • The only times I've had a problem with peanut butter was when I was undereating and craving fat. That being said, it is pretty easy for me to put 15 grams into my yogurt and then go back and wipe the lid off for a few extra tastes! One counter-intuitive thing that has helped me is to buy Justin's peanut butter cups -…
  • Thanks all...loving the diary notes already. I have appreciated people with open diaries, especially people with similar stats or goals- I'm starting to lift heavier and like to peak around and see how many grams of proteins fellow lifters are getting...Also I look for recipe ideas, but a lot of interesting stuff going on…
  • pre-log, sometimes for days. It shifts and changes a bit, but it is more about reducing food waste than controlling calories- if I do a big shop, prelogging helps me make sure I stay in calorie goals AND use up the food I need to use. Winnnn.
  • First off, congrats on seeking help and reaching out. Secondly, it is important to remember, no bad foods, only bad feelings. Restriction makes your mind and body panic. Your body responds by bingeing, your mind responds with feelings of self-hate. Neither of these things are helpful for weight loss or better health. It…
  • 2 eggs a day, minimum...e'rry day.

  • This is all great info! It makes me think about how it would be great if the diary had a little comments section like "felt sick today, couldn't eat much." or WHATEVER, not just for others, but for ourselves.
  • i know people who will go a hundred under for a few days if they know they are going to go hundred over a different day...i'd rather just exercise more the day i go big because thinking about how it all adds up together is overwhelming to me, i'd rather go one day at a time.
  • This has happened to me. At the time, I was seeing a male OBGYN and my weight was of a "healthy" BMI (5'10, 132, pretty much as low as possible) - HOWEVER, I was lifting heavy, so my body fat was really LOW, and the problem with BMI charts is...um, that they are like, totally irrelevant to health? While one person can be…
  • @wannabefitmom1 - appreciate your open minded responses even when people are hitting ya with a little attitude! (it happens here!) I have found that every program, ketosis, high protein, atkins, pills, ALL of it, it ALL works - you can lose 10 or 20 or 30 pounds, look slammin in a dress, and hopefully get a good photo to…
  • No bad foods, only bad feelings. The days that I go over aren't planned- they arise from a social situation where I feel that the benefit of enjoying (when my friend made a three tier home baked smitten kitchen chocolate cake, for example), far outweigh the alternative (sticking to my calorie limit and missing out on a…
  • Never go to a friends house starving. I'll eat an apple and a few nuts, like 200 cal total RIGHT before I go. Then I'll go super small portions, pic of the plate.
  • Does the group live only in the thread here?
  • many people find after they drop their weight far too low that they can binge for days...months...the solution is getting help so you never reach a weight in which your brain reverts back to a few thousand years ago when it was starved in the desert...
  • I do dry january every year too! I'm in...started early this year on the 28th I think...wooooohooo!
  • Let's just say I am really glad Martin Luther King Day isn't big on baked goods or alcohol!
  • Interesting...I had always put mine as very active because maybe 6,000 of my steps were exercise and the other 15 or whatever were walking to and from class...then I'd adjust because 6,000 of the steps were double counted....it was complicated, but maybe I should do that...
  • I find that HIIT-ting definitely helps me slim down - I am also 5'9, broad shouldered, swim between 135-155 (at the upper end of that now) - I get between 15-25k steps per day and am likely "very active" but I put down "active" as my safety net. A couple of things here, and I'm not saying this as the expert! Being as…
  • Love this thread! @arditarose taught me bout shirataki noodles and they are now my new best friend - I eat them instead of spaghetti all the time. ALSO, I totally creeped on your diary, and I know its the holiday's so it is not necessarily indicative. BUT- there are some easy and tasty swaps out there. I saw you had some…
  • YES- best thing ever...A month ago I couldn't imagine rebooting but I gave myself a looong diet break and now I feel awesome and recharged and so ready!
  • I'm not here to diagnose people. The way I measure how healthful or unhealthful my relationship with my food journey is at any given time, is whether I feel free, or trapped. Whether I feel self hate, or self love. Whether I feel that my relationship from food prevents me from having the social relationships that I want,…
  • I'll never forget the day this gal I worked with looked at the creamer I was putting in my coffee. She said "50 cals a day, 7 days a week, 350 cals a week, 5 pounds a year" I've been drinking coffee black for 7 years now! ha! Every once and a while I do have a "treat" coffee, but I actually like it black.

  • While you can eat whatever you want and the number on the scale will go down, I find that the image in the mirror is affected by the type of food you put in your body. I like the look of my body better when I'm eating high protein, and lots of vegetables. Lots of sugars and sodiums leave me looking "soft" regardless of how…
  • I got back on track on the 26th but may indulge for NYE! I will not jump on the scale until January 22- I know by then I'll have lost the gain from the holidays, and I'd rather not discourage or fall into some self dislike by getting on too early
  • First off, I am a huge proponent of minimizing food waste. Secondly, there is no "first world" or "third world." We are ONE WORLD, and we should start acting like it. There are developed countries, and developing countries...and I would argue, OVERdeveloped countries- OVERdeveloped countries are at risk for some serious…
  • just remember to listen to YOUR body, something that works for your friends may not work for you. I have friends who went vegan and are doing amaaazing. I also have friends who went vegan and their health really stalled and plummeted after a while. If it isn't working, don't feel ashamed - there are lots of ways to improve…
  • Looooove it!
  • I am 5'10 160, wear a size 8, have fairly muscular shoulders and am "dense", most of my body is hard with a * extra * holiday layer....140 is low for me.... some people are just DENSE! I have a friend who is a brick house..like, literally I think they swallowed a brick. You'd never guess they were 200 lbs. I have heard of…
  • Wow. I'm kind of amazed by this thread. Lots of pro- diet soda people out there. As a kid I got totally addicted to diet coke. I'm talking addicted. Didn't feel healthy, didn't feel right. I think there is some bad stuff inside those cans. But thats just like, my opinion, man...
  • Pema Chodron is a popular western interpreter of Buddhist literature, her book "no time to lose" awakened me to realize that my self restriction and cyclical dieting was a form of selfishness, and "samsara" - or continuously doing the same things despite no change or end goal, and in focusing only on that samsara, losing…
