If you're running that sort of distance every week, I'd stop worrying about your weight and concentrate on fuelling/nutrition...

Larro, you don't know how right you are! She's discharged today. Pots are washed, all my running kit it put away, the bed's made, all the cushions are flushed, both toilets are bleached and I've put the seats down. Oh well, it was good while it lasted! Be good to have her home though, and she'll recuperate better here than…

None of the above. Only know Herbalife, but if the other two are a similar thing, they're pyramid/ponzi scheme overpriced rubbish. Avoid like the plague. Proper nutrition, proper exercise.

Thanks for all the good wishes, much appreciated. She was a bit worse yesterday, pain and nausea wise, but she's just texted me to say she's had a decent night and is sat out of bed this morning. Catheter will be out today, hopefully home soon. See if I can remember how to be a nurse (I'm not kidding, it's what I used to…

Morning all from a very wet and grey Yorkshire! You'll be glad to know that my wife's surgery went ahead yesterday and was successful. She was fine, if still a little groggy when I left last night. I knew she was ok when she kept hitting me for taking the piss out of her hair and lack of makeup! So the plan was to walk…

I'm not going to bang on about it, but my wife's surgery was cancelled. At 5pm. After she'd fasted since 7am and been at the hospital since 11am. In those lovely DVT stockings. To say we were a little upset at this was a slight understatement. We think (actually we're pretty sure we know) we were lied to by the surgeon and…

Today will be a write off, as I'll be spending it in hospital with my wife who's undergoing surgery. So will be indulging in crap food and energy drinks. I'll TRY and go and have a salad or pasta while she's in theatre, and I'll TRY and go for a run tonight when she's back on the ward, recovered and I know she's ok (she…

Eat curry. LOTS of curry!

Cool forum. At work now, but was out for a run at 0545 this morning so I could get to the gym at lunchtime and do my shoulders. I think I'm completely obsessed at the moment.

I have a bit of a saggy belly and I still look amazing! I am at the age though where I've got more bad than good but I'm not bothered. Back on the weights after a two year lay off to try and put some of the muscle mass I've lost back on, but this time I'm still on the calorie watch and still doing mental levels of cardio.…

47 going on 17 here. Run, cycle, lift weights, ride motorbikes. Lovely wife, we MFP together. Just found this group, what do we do, just shoot the breeze about what we do every day?

Congratulations! Got myself a steady 30km planned in the morning...

Herbalife is a con. Pyramid selling, MLM, ponzi scheme, whatever, it's a waste of money. Ditch it, you've been sold a pup.

Off for a run, so will have my "Best of" playlist on shuffle on my phone. Could be ANYTHING! Last thing I listened to was the exhaust of my motorcycle screaming on my way home from work...

No, but she'd train with me.

Edited my response. There's an argument for both camps, for volume v quality. I've seen some HUGE lifters who's form is awful and some ridiculously strong folk who never really get any bigger. What do I know, I've only been doing it 35 years. And I'm still rubbish.

I thought your explanation above was excellent. I was going for the simplified Northern imbecile version. Maybe "muscles" was the wrong word. Maybe I should've used the word "body" instead. I've always been a believer in mixing it up to shock muscles into growth. Doing the same thing, over and over and over leads to…
