Have you gone on the Atkins or a low-carb diet before? What do you think of it?
-
What's carb cycling?
-
If you eat plenty of meats you'll find yourself feeling hungry less often, I've noticed! It's better to eat something small than starve yourself.
-
Why are you using quotation marks? Atkins is a diet. I'm asking what's with the bad rap. I'm not trying to convert people.
-
I've heard people complain that right after they did the Atkins they fell off of it afterwards. Maybe diets don't generally work for some people but if it's something you like doing I don't see it being a big issue. I could honestly see myself eating meats, veggies, eggs and cheese for years.

I'm curious to know why it's developed a bad rep. My parents turned me onto it because they've used it most of their adult life.

Everyone looks FAAAAAABULOUS!

Erk, fruits and vegetables are very high in fiber and can make you sick if you don't balance them with other foods. Definitely go see a doctor to find out what they would recommend for your diet and exercise right now, maybe you're not getting enough insulin from your food and your body is exhausted.

Welcome to MFP Tova! I'm also kind of new to the forums. I hope you find it as inviting and supportive as I have so far!

Fruits do have a certain amount of carbs so they're a great way to stave off sugar cravings. IT depends on what kind of diet you're on. If you're doing low-carb it's better to not go nuts over fruits. Also, they are very high in fiber so if you aren't careful you can end up making yourself sick if you seriously binge up to…

Right, this is exactly where I like to vet my feelings about my personal progress and get ideas about diets and exercise regiments. It's a pretty easygoing place where everyone is pretty interested in what works for other health-conscious individuals but this type of demographic is not the vast majority by any means. You…

I think they just haven't had much success themselves and prefer to just not care. They're paying you a compliment and want to leave it at that.

I don't think he actually wanted to start listening to a long description of all the work that went into your losing some weight... I hate it whenever anyone asks my friend Johnathan how he's lost so much, he takes off into a really boring half hour lecture on food portion control and the kind of gold gym products he owns…

Then take a 30 minute jog afterwards!

Very bright, red/strawberry blondish hair.

You probably sweat quite a bit and lost some water weight! That would be my guess.

Yay! Welcome to the Insanity workout then! I'm actually starting Month 2 today. Hopefully October will be an awesome month for the both of us. Day 1 of Insanity isn't so bad, it's just a 20 minute Fitness Test. That being said, you'll want to hold on to your test results for the rest of the next two months so you can…

I will google these asap! Thanks for the tips.

I'm sorry to hear about that!! Stress does awful things to the body. Good luck with your new fitness endeavors! I hope we both make tons of progress. :D

Um, yeah, I tend to agree with this guy. If you're doing it specifically for some kind of sports competition or what have you and you're being instructed by your trainer than definitely fly to NYC and get that DEXA test. If it's just for personal reasons because you really want to know about your own results than it's much…

For me that percentage is a little more balanced than that. I feel like exercise is 55% and than the food is 45%. They both effect each other so much. I've only been on here for under a week also; so, hello fellow newbie! Best of luck in your fitness endeavors!

I definitely find a toned body the most attractive. I think that Insanity helps you tone up even if it doesn't make you really build a ton of muscle. Do you recommend any kind of specific program for strength training?

DEAR LAWDY. If I owned a $300 gorgeous pair of True Religions jeans than I would chuck the health book and go crash dieting like crazy!!
-
Oooooh, so it's a ratio to determine body mass. I was wondering, since that acronym is used pretty frequently on the boards it seems like. I'll have to read up more on it. I've actually considered taking my old jeans to a consignment shop to try and make a little cash to invest in a new wardrobe. I think wearing clothes…

I feel like the only way you can really get an accurate read on exactly how many calories you are burning during an exercise is by wearing a heart monitor, which can be an expensive investment but it is far more accurate than the default cardiovascular exercises logged into the myfitnesspal app. I think you should play it…

You think so? I'm just so used to having really thin limbs that having meat on my thighs feels weird whenever I'm running or on my elyptical machine. What do you mean by a bmi of less than twenty? (Yes that photo is of me and I'm a tall white 27 year old girl.) I'm actually currently on month 2 of the insanity workout and…

I spent about $75 on my Miss Me jeans. Seems like last year while I was REALLY skinny I got overly excited about my 25" waistline and bought tons of really nice Buckle jeans; now none of them fit me. X'D

I noticed personally that gaining muscle made my appetite go up quite a bit. If your main goal is losing weight than it's definitely a good idea to start up a cardio regiment and be sure you are eating enough food. Even if you want to lose a hundred pounds it's important to eat right whenever you start up an exercise…

I just finished the R&R week yesterday. I'm supposed to be starting Month 2 today. I'm kind of terrified that it's going to be a thousand times harder than month 1. What's this Max: 30?? I'll have to look into it!
