Outside for running all the time. Ran on a treadmill yesterday morning and hated it. Also suffered from the 'do I REALLY look like that when I run?!' as I had to see myself in the mirror directly in front of me! I only began to enjoy running when I took the pressure off myself. For a few years I ran 5 days a week, never…

Apparently 'running' is defined (by a local running club mind you!) as doing a 8-9minute mile whilst 'jogging' is running a mile in 11-13 minutes. Not sure where I fall as I do a mile cross country in average of 10.5 minutes and a mile on the road in about 9.5 minutes!

I've been going to my gym for 18months and dont think I've changed much, I certainly haven't lost any weight (but I am honest and know that this is because I dont control my eating well enough but I enjoy working out and getting sweaty!). However a few people have commented in the last few months that I've changed…

Panache is the best one I have found - its padded so ideal for me. After feeding 3 children for a total of 3 years, ShockAbsorber are just too 'revealing' ;)

I rest for 60-90 secs between sets and as I started getting a bit bored watching the clock, decided to do 20 standing ab crunchies off each leg then 20 star jumps then 20 further ab crunchies. Fills the space nicely, keeps my heart rate up and, if Im doing squats, stretches my glutes a bit so DOMS is lessened

A few years ago I used a PT for 4 sessions and he told me that as I was running so slowly, I would be better walking (I do walk fast!) as there was less likelihood of injury and I'd burn more calories. I have no idea whether this is the case but thought Id throw it into the mix! Personally, I feel it doesn't matter whether…

Rachel - you had a baby 8 weeks ago! Please give your poor old body time to recover from that before dieting to lose weight. It WILL come off of its own accord but you need to be patient. Plus, if you are breastfeeding you will have to eat to make milk - all 3 of my babies suffered from a drop in the old milk supply when I…

I love the stairmaster too and usually use it for 20 mins after weights every day! It says I burn 280 cals in that time - I use a program so cant relate to the levels that the OP uses. Its great for my bum and is making my calf muscles very toned! To the person who finds it frustrating going slowly - try taking the steps…

Lol!! There was an interesting twist - and lots of subterfuge!! I find it makes cardio time go much more quickly B)

My weight has stayed the same over the past 2 years - 12 stones even though I've gone down a dress size and toned up hugely! In my late teens I was 10 1/2 stones then went up in a jump to 11 stones when I got married at 25. After 3 children I was still at 11 stones until my late thirties when I went up, again in a jump, to…

I had 3 C sections and unfortunately will always have the apron, unless I have a tummy tuck!! Doesnt mean I haven't got great muscle tone under the excess skin though!! x

All you are NOT doing is being patient!! 2lbs in 4 weeks PLUS an 1" is great - well done. Keep it up :-)

Great film - slightly unsettling quote, even when taken in context!!!

I dont have any problems with running alone either across country, along the canal or through the town. But I am lucky enough to live in a very pleasant area and know loads of people roundabout so embarrassment at the way I look in running gear is usually my main concern. I always have my phone and a friend has all the…

Lol - I have had ice cream :D lots of it! but little else apart from salad or soup so well within my calorie limit! Loving all these alternative diets btw :D :D :D xx

Working REALLY hard in the gym has toned my legs up very well!

Im about 10 weeks into the programme and am struggling with the weight increasing. Squats I cant seem to get over the 50kg mark (but hoping now ive seen chiro that I can move onwards again!), OHP - seems to have 30kg as my 'cant do it' weight but hoping to break that next week. Deadlifts - having a PT session tomorrow to…

When running I just focus on the music playing in my headphones - and not slipping over on exposed tree roots on the canal towpath!! When doing weights its counting reps, when doing rowing or stairmaster its mathematical calculations ie how many strokes a metre means how long i've got left and counting them down.

I now spend around 1hr 50 at the gym 5 mornings per week doing a combination of cardio and weights. (40 mins cardio split into 2) plus touch rugby tuesday and thursday evenings, 5 mile cross country run saturday morning and a quick 4 mile run Monday evening if I a) have energy or b) have had a *kitten* day at work and need…

I can recommend the Mooncup (or whatever it's called in America) as often you dont need the 'extra protection' of pads (except me but my body is weird!). Have to confess to not usually going to the gym the first couple of days but thats more down to feeling exhausted than anything else. Went this morning (Day 1) but only…

I struggle with deadlifts too and have found they leave my back very sore. Seeing a chiropractor in a couple of weeks so have decided to leave DL alone for now. However, those of you who are WAY more knowledgable than me, what is the purpose of a Deadlift? Which muscles does it work (when done correctly!) and is there an…

I use a McTimoney Chriopractor once or twice a year to correct similar issues. Very few people have a correctly aligned pelvis and if you consider this to be the foundation of your skeleton it makes sense that if your pelvis is skew whiff then you cannot be walking 'level'. I need to go and see her now as I noticed in the…

An ex friend of mine had an affair at the start of last year and within 4 months had dropped over 21lbs. She left her husband and is still with the man she had the affair with and is now ultra slim!! Im married, no lover, no sex and still 21lbs overweight despite gymming every day - go figure!!

I use the MyZone HRM and love it! The only bit I dont like is, because I go to the gym at 5am, my effort rating is the only one on the screen! But I love that I can see how much effort each exercise requires and love the coloured graph which gets sent to your phone. Its as accurate as any other HRM and, I believe, gives as…

My children are 19, 17 and 15 - first 2 were emergency c sections, third was an elective. All 3 were 10.5lbs give or take an ounce. I gained 42lbs with each but my belly circumference was 52", 50" and 48" with each child so I was huge! After each baby I got back to by pre pregnancy weight but over the past 10 years age has…

So, have a grilled bacon rasher or two with scrambled eggs (no fat) and baked beans! Healthy, protein packed breakfast. As you are male, you could get away with some toast as well! Healthy eating is more about adapting rather than denying!!

I'm on week 5 and progressing well but had epic 'fail' yesterday on squats bench press and barbell row :-( I know why - TOTM coming plus my head wasn't in 'succeed' mode! Never mind - the beauty of this programme is that you dont progress until you are strong enough to! Roll on Monday!!
-
If you only have 10lb dumbells, walking lunges whilst holding them will work your legs pretty hard! Admittedly mine were in addition to squats and squat press yesterday but I can hardly walk today my glutes are so sore! Can also feel it down the side of my thighs - strangely where my sticky out bits are not along my quads…

Maybe I've missed something but at 5ft 11 and 10st 10lbs you sound like you are an ideal weight already - why do you want to lose any?
