I went from a 42" waist to a 32" waist. There are lots of men's pants and jeans that are labeled 38" but are really 40 or 42" so all of my pants and shorts were marked 38. I still have about a bit less than half of them. The rest are 32 or 34 now. When I wear the big pants (with a belt) my family gives me royal hell (as…

I think the best thing is to have a plan. Logging daily is a good plan maintain weight. I think it is also a good idea to visit the scale at least once a week. It should go right into your moring routine along with brushing your teeth. If you can maintain your weight, within a range, without logging then you are doing…

The days are getting shorter! Our biology calls for fattening up for the winter. It will get worse before it gets better. Find some bulky, low calorie foods to fill your tummy. Make giant piles of roasted vegetables and fill that bellly and fool nature! :-)

It took me 4 months. I think that this is the very short end of what can be expected. It seems to me that men lose weight faster. My aunt took a year and gave me a hard time for it. I was eating between 1000 and 1400 calories a day during this period and walking 10,000 steps a day and that did it for me.

English Breakfast Organ Meat Pork Rinds Miracle Whip (I like Mayo but my dad uses this gross stuff religiously)

During my weight loss, I rarely ate back my calories except when my exercise was over 800 calories and then I would not eat back all of them. I remember going on a 40 mile bike ride with my son's boy scout troop. It was about 1500 calories burned. I had a nice meal that night! My advice is to try to keep your calorie…

I have been on a kick of trying to work in more protein into all my meals. For lunch, I have been having greek yogurt and either a cup of dry high fiber cereal, half a cup of nuts/seeds or a couple pieces of fruit. - Usually high protein and/or fiber and low sodium For dinner, I have a nice piece of grilled meat (beef,…

I do not have doctors telling me not to lose more weight, but family members telling me that from time to time. I am 6' 0", 43 yo. I was 234 lbs and dropped to 184lbs. 184 was a BMI of 25! I announced that I would drop 7 more lbs (to a little under 24 BMI) and my family told me I had already lost too much! I am now 178lbs…

From your information, you are a healthy weight. I am puzzled by these extreme actions. Your profile says you want to lose 35 lbs! That is crazy. You are about to starve yourself when you do not need to. Do not carry out this plan......

I have been maintaining for a month at 184. I have ranged from 180-186 over the past month. Who knows what the future holds....

I was eating 1200 calories for a few weeks and continued losing weight. My consumption was between 1200-1500 with only a few exceptions. My base level of exercise was 10,000 steps a day. My weight loss seemed to come in steps. I would stay the same weight for a few days and then my weight would go down for a few days. The…

What a great post, Edgar! I first read your April entry and then your one from today. What a great change and a great story! Thanks for sharing this! I've got to my goal recently. The two things that got me there were that I made peace with vegetables and walking. Vegetables add a big pile of bulk to my meals so I actually…

5' 5" 111lbs = BMI 18.5. That is the LIGHTEST you can weight you can be and be healthy. Start eating a normal amount of calories, at least 1500, and get a base level of daily activity. Then, enjoy life! Do not lose any weight because you would be under weight!
-
Thanks Everyone! There is a lot of good advice here. My take aways are: - Put a plan together to stay on top of things - I plan to weigh in daily with an acceptable weight range in mind. - Increase slowly - I will start adding 100 calories/day twice a week until I get to the "losing 0.5 lbs" goal, see how that goes and…

This is the second time in my life that I had a significant amount of weight to lose and then lost it. (The first time was about 20 years ago.) Both times I used simple calorie counting. It is the only thing that has ever worked for me. I tend to attempt to seek out more vegetables and protien. I need the vegetables to…

I would be huge. I love beer, pasteries, chips, doritos. I also love cheeseburgers, any soup that has the work "bisque" in the name, french fries, chicken wings, pizza, pie..... shall I go on?

I have gained weight for two reasons even when my calorie consumption has been down: - Salty food. After eating a salty meal, I can gain a pound or two from water retention. - Constipation - Waste material can build up over a day or two I have heard other have had problems with MFP over-estimating calorie burn for various…

If you like a courser texture, you can try steel cut oats. I really enjoy Cracklin Oat Bran as well. I eat it dry.

Thank you for sharing your story! This community really needs to hear these stories. It helps so many people! Everyone needs to know that weight loss is not a mystery. It is simple physics. Burning more calories than eating = weight loss.

I only eat pop tarts on backpacking trips. Cinnamon Brown Sugar are one of my favorites. I'd be too afraid to start eating pop tarts at home but will gladly eat some in your honor during a 15 mile hike!

I weigh in daily, which many people do not do because the flucuations are discouraging. I have noticed that my weight goes up for a day when I eat something very salty due to the water retention. Also, when I travel, I tend to get behind with the passing of solid waste as well. 1900 calories is a lot of calories during…

I am experiencing a very simular stall. I lost 30lbs in about 2 months. It came off rather easily. Now I am losing about 1 lb or less per week. This has been going on for a little more than 2 weeks now. I suspect that this is a fairly healthy rate of weight loss so I am trying to keep my head up.... Right now I am sticking…

Starting: 232lbs Current: 201lbs Goal: 184lbs

Done but had to bail on the last half of the push-ups on the 3rd set. I think that I am overdoing it on the push-up front.
-
Done. Had trouble with the push-ups on the 3rd set had to do 20, take a short break and then do the final 5.
-
Done! The push-ups are getting easier, at least the first 15.

I am right there with you. I hate to run. I also have a bad knee (miniscus tear) but I love to walk and bicycle. Running is overrated and not the only exercise to do. It is also hard on your joints. Do what you enjoy and not what everyone else is doing!
-
Yeah! No push-ups today!
-
Done! The push-ups are hell! I thought 15 was beyond my limit but managed to do 20 on yesterday's soreness.
-
Weigh in numbers: - Orginal weight - 234lbs - Current weight - 204lbs - Goal - 184lbs Challenge exercise complete! I think these are the first pushups I've done in at least 5 years. 3 sets of 15 was right around my limit but managed to get them done.
