  • For fast and easy- freezer burritos. I did my filling in a crockpot. 2 cans Black beans, 1 cup quinoa, some frozen corn, two cans chopped tomato with their juice, a cup of stock, can of enchilada sauce, 3 tbsp taco seasoning. You can add other veg if you want or shredded chicken if you want. Cook poon high until the quinoa…
  • I make my tuna salad with horseradish. Gives it some kick. Also if I don't have time to chop up stuff to put in for a tuna salad, I sometimes add just a spoonful of green relish. (I've not done the horseradish and relish together but maybe the sweet heat would be good. I also just mixed it with seafood sauce a few times to…
  • thanks for sharing! Out of curiosity, how close did you have to get to "normal/healthy" weight before noticing a difference?
  • Married 8+ years here. I've not tried counseling myself (not against it just haven't don't it), but have you openly discussed this with him? Like, I'm all for everyone meeting each others needs, but you also have a need for a normal sleep schedule so maybe there's a compromise in there that can be talked through?
  • I'm 40 and was diagnosed pre-diabetic this year as well. :# It also runs in my family so I'm a bit in the same boat. Generally speaking, diets that focus on protein, fat and low glycemic-index foods are the best bet for those with insulin issues. So low carb diets fit the bill. How low carb you need to go is maybe…
  • This past spring/summer I was doing 21Day Fix pretty much back to back. And walking about 5 or 10K twice a week. Then I took probably about 1.5 months off and am trying to get going again. But I've never been a runner. I tried C25K years ago (when I was much lighter I might add) and I did find that I built up stamina…
  • This is actually the program that i'm doing! :) I'm on week 3.
  • Ok good advice all. I will have to check with my dr since i'm on this low cholesterol/low salt diet. But i was wondering if it could be an electrolyte thing.
  • So the schedule has core and cardio in every workout. The schedule is Chest/Triceps Back/Biceps Rest day Shoulders Legs Rest Day Rest Day So maybe I just do my 3 runs somewhere between the first 4 days and keep the two rest days after leg day?
  • Thanks for the reply! Ok I will give it a shot. I'm early on in the program (week 3) and am covering 3K so far in the walk/runs. Other than feeling tired (which is expected), are there any dangers to overtraining?
  • I haven't read everyone's answer but sometimes a bulletproof coffee makes a big difference. Too much fibre can actually bulk things up too much as well so just keep an eye on that. But ya - I find a coffee with a tbsp of coconut or MCT oil does the trick.

  • So i used to make overnight oats in a 250ml mason jar and it was 1/2 cup oats and maybe 1/4 cup fruit and 1/2 cup liquid. Stir/shake it up well. The next day they are good to go. The only hard thing for batch preparation is that I found after 4 days they got too mushy and kinda gross. So I couldn't make a week in advance.…
  • Thanks!! Lol ya he's a creative guy lol. Although I should probably clarify that they weren't REAL gold coins! lol Just tokens to represent success. (not even the chocolate type! ;) ) We've always wanted to hike the Inca trail but quite honestly are probably way too out of shape to do it. So this gives us a year or so to…
  • Can i just say that i love this thread? A bit of a lighthearted acknowledgement of the irritations that, in the big picture are not that huge, but on the daily just kinda drive us nutso. lol My husband and I are travelers. Like - we move to a new country every few years and live from there. Spending 6 months in my home…
  • So i totally hear where you are coming from on this. I often fround myself fretting over whether i'm inadvertently doing something 'wrong' and then i've 'wasted that time' in my weight loss journey. This has been the hardest mental hurdle for me to overcome - to not approach weight loss with a timeline in mind. I don't…
  • If you've lost 4kg in 6 weeks, thats 8lbs or 1.33 lbs/wk (sorry I have to convert to lbs) which is a weekly deficit of 4666 or 666 calorie deficit per day. So if you are in fact eating 1300 calories (like others mentioned - if you are weighing EVERYTHING accurately etc) that means that you are burning just under 2000…
  • Well thats good news! I was also going to say that maybe you are maintaining at a good level and the small fluctuations you are seeing are just your body adjusting. I think typically when people switch to maintenance, they see things increase by a few lbs, maybe due to water retention or whatever? I suppose if the trends…
  • Although I'm an advocate for batch cooking at home (cheaper, doesn't have to be hard etc) I get that sometimes we need to do what works for us. Keep in mind that you should concurrently work at building up some of these cooking skills etc, because eventually you will need a different more sustainable habit. But I'd say…
  • So I haven't read through all the posts so apologies if I've missed something but am I getting this math right? You are 5'1" and started losing weight last year. You've lost 24 lbs (starting to gain some back) which puts you in and around 118 lbs? That puts you at a BMI of 22.5 which is dead centre of your healthy weight…
  • when I was doing keto, I was surprised at how quickly even green leafy vegetable carbs added up. If you have a carb goal, I would say count everything.
  • Do you mean reset your MFP goals/starting point? Here's the thing: it's kinda irrelevant. It is what it is. You lost 7 lbs. Great! That's moving forward, albeit maybe not at the pace you'd like. You probably learned some things about yourself and your habits and your intake/output during that time. Great news as well! You…
  • Ok thanks @hipari and @AnnPT77 . So maybe I can do some steady state bike riding at a lower resistance or slower pace. I do remember the "you should be able to talk" rule. Or one also heard you should be able to talk but not sing? I will try maybe once or twice a week and go from there. Thanks for the reminders and insight…
  • Thanks for the input everyone! Some good points brought out but in answer to your questions: Ive done about 4 rounds of 21 day fix and am progressing a lot with it. Ive been feeling in the past couple of weeks that I could handle doing a bit more. The purpose of this extra exercise isn't really about weight loss. Its more…
  • @lgfrie This is interesting because this is essentially the opposite of what others are saying about vanity sizing. And I've seen posts from other guys that say they experience vanity sizing too, but it seems that you are having the same phenomenon as me with weighing more at a given size than before. I'm in Canada so I'm…
  • Yes this is exactly what I mean! I am really curious about why this might be, especially when people tell me that its very hard for a woman to build significant muscle (like it would be at least 10 lbs worth). Last time I was size 12 it was in my early 30's and I was at about 160#. Now im 39, and a size 12 at like 180#?…
  • This is how I see it. Daily weigh in: Pros- you get significant data points and learn the trends of your body and how certain foods, exercise etc impact your they day weight. Best used with a trending app and a grain of salt Con- some people find themselves very discouraged or confused by the frequent fluctuations and this…

  • I'm 5'8" and currently 180 lbs. I typically aim for about 100 g of protein a day. Right now I'm not super low carb because I do eat vegetable based carbs (potato and sweet potato and carrots etc) so I'm probably under 100 g of carbs but it's nothing like the 20 g Keto does. I'm not sure if there is a way to measure…
  • Thanks for the reply! I do find I feel better eating essentially Paleo. I don't really eat sugar or any grains. Today I had my chia pudding for breakfast (incl a tbsp of flax), and then a can of tuna with a tbsp olive oil mayo, an avocado, half a cucumber and about a cup of baby carrots for lunch. But I came home from work…
  • Ya its true. I'm more interested in what size I am and how much additional fat i'm carrying than what the number on the scale says. I have been strength training a bit I guess? Like nothing hardcore but I'm doing Beachbody 21 Day fix which is essentially HIIT with weight training. So does that mean that I'm toning up and…
  • I'm in the same boat as you. So I haven't tried this myself yet but I was wondering about getting one of those wifi scales that syncs to an app and then covering the display with tape or something that prevents me from seeing. So I could step on each day and have the app get the data, but I would only go into the app and…
