Rightly or wrongly, I am a sticker for spelling and grammar even though I rarely point it out. I tend to ignore obvious typo errors (we all get caught out on that one from time to time) but I am not a fan of text speak. I agree with the above poster that language needs to evolve but a lot of people use that reasoning to…

From the end of the fantastic speech by Dennis Hopper in True Romance when he knows he's going to die "You, you're an eggplant". ...followed by Chrstopher Walken's classic comeback... "You're a cantaloupe"

You have put my mind at rest, many thanks :)

I have reduced my salt intake and I drank a lot of water over the weekend so I don't elt water retention bother me anymore to be honest. I know the calories-in-calories-out rule, I was just taken aback by his assertion that the fat won't be considered for 3-4 days.

I use a pedometer (Fitbit) and I have a daily target that I hit by means of walking. The pedometer doesn’t know where I am walking from/to, nor does it make any allowances for the times I just get up from my desk, visit a colleague about 50-odd steps away then walk back & sit back down again. I am yet to be told by it that…

Exactly what I mean - I will still weigh each week (I am still working toward a target that can only be determined by the scales) and I will no doubt still feel highs & lows depending on the results, but certainly not to the point of it affecting my day like it was up until recently. I refuse to be a slave to the scales,…

I recently had a 3-4 week period where I didn't lose a single pound, then I lost 10lb in 2 weeks. I am back to 1.5lb loss now, which is disappointing after such a bonus couple of weeks, but it's what it should be, so I'm not complaining (well, 2lb is what it should be but I won't lose sleep over 0.5 of a lb).

I've always wondered the same thing, I usually enter my food via the Android app instead of the website becasue of this.

A lot of shouting - they are currently filming the new Dr Who series outside my office window.

I'm Welsh, my name is Phil and was born in 1975. This way nobody needs to bore themselves with my profile, it's all summed up in my username.

I am from Carmarthen, lived most of my life in Penarth but lived the last 12 years in Trerochy. Feel free to add me.

I've got a couple of "before" photos to post, i just haven't go round to it yet, but I won't take a "during" one until I really feel it's showing. It may already for all I know, but until i *feel* like it is I am too scared to post them.

Tic Tacs. 2 calories each and I eat about 3 a day, sometimes as many as 4. I can live with that.

I am addicted to my Fitbit One (I am a stats man) but you really need to buy into the whole experience to make it worh the high cost, and by that I mean if you are already active I really couldn't see much point in buying something to tel lyou what you already know, but if you don't do much and you intend to it's fantastic…

Yeah, I should've been specific - I know they won't be to everybody's tastes, you need to research and know you are getting what suits your needs before you purchase one (especially at the prices they charge for them), but if you do want to buy in to the whole experience of using one, and are commited to doing so (they are…

If I am close but under my daily target I will climb stairs, pace the house, etc; I also take my dog on more challenging walks (up in the hills as opposed to just on the flat pavements, etc). And it's true how excercise is addictive, I just want to keep doing more and more all the time. Before I bought it (it's only been 4…

How could this thread get this far without a single mention of Rocky 4? (and 3, of course)

I am looking forward to Peter Capaldi now – I have seen him filming scenes in Cardiff (my office building has been in a few episodes from the last few seasons) so it’s fun to spot locations, etc, when it comes on the telly.

I started my diet on a Tuesday and I initially weighed that day, so I've stuck with it for consistency.

I'm Welsh, I can't say I am too fussed!!!

I stopped logging my excercise a few weeks ago so I could just stick to my original calorie goal. Now I've got a Fitbit One linked up it logs them automatically, but I only use them as an 'overflow' - by that I mean I always aim to stay within my calorie level but if I go over then I've got about 200-250 daily extra day to…
-
I don't make any effort to eat back my calories either (I earn about 300 per day during the week) but i use the mas an 'overflow' if I have a heavier day than usual. I have averaged slightly under 2lb per week since March.

I wish you worked in my office!

I was vegetarian for 12 years. Every Christmas without fail my gran couldn't understand why I wouldn't eat turkey. She understood that I didn't eat meat (and she understood the concept of that) but she thought i could have Christmas off. Even in the final year she still questioned me on it. "Surely you can have some…

I so want an olive oil dispenser that groans

I eat a generous bowl of pasta with fresh veg as often as I can (2-4 nights a week). No sauce, cheese, olive oil, etc, just pasta & veg (mushrooms, radish, courgette & spinach, mostly), flavoured with garlic & pepper. I would have to revaluate my entire diet if I suddenly started gaining weight because of it because it’s…
