I'm pretty sure this will be a lifestyle for me. Been at it since March, down nearly 90 pounds. I have PCOS and literally nothing else has worked, plus I love the non-weightloss benefits of keto. My rule of thumb will probably be 97% keto, 3% not throughout life. For instance, since March I have eaten non-keto for 1…

Great job! Such a good success story.

Legitimate question: Does she make a profit off you purchasing this? Honestly, truthfully, regardless of whatever lifestyle someone follows, you do not need shakes, bars, drinks, blends, herbs, etc. that people try to sell to be successful. Eating real, whole food within whatever calories and macro ratios you want to…

Thank you so much for your response here! That made me feel awesome. Great tip about cooking the meatballs in the sauce, I didn't even think of that. I will try it next time for sure. Believe me, I'm not fighting off any suitors haha so thank you, that's a great compliment. Glad you enjoyed the biscuits - great idea to use…

Flaxseed crackers! 1 cup ground flaxseed, 1/2cup grated parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, Italian herbs, 1 egg. I grind all the dry ingredients together in my food processor then mix with the egg. Pour the mixture out onto parchment paper, cover with another sheet of parchment, roll very thin with a rolling pin, cut into…

Woohoo! Way to go! Too much protein can keep you out / throw you out of ketosis, so it's good to switch things up if there's a stall. Next time don't wait a year to make the change!

Congratulations! You look wonderful; it really shows in how your face lights up in all the photos.

Are you drinking plenty of water? Dehydration usually registers high levels on Ketostix which are, as I hope you know, fairly unreliable. Did you recently eat carbs and are you going through keto flu again?

I am 100% okay with this.

Thanks Jenny for copying the nutrition info!! BansheeCat, the nutrition info is always at the bottom of every recipe inside the box that has the complete recipe listed. Hope you can find it next time!

That's such a compliment! Thanks! I like to think anyone would enjoy them, low carb or not.

Thanks so much x2!! Apologies for making you hungry.

All you can do is your best. No need to worry about macros & calories for a week - just try to make healthy choices. Like I have said, it's a journey, and it's okay if we're not perfect every single day. In terms of hostile environment... I really can't recommend anything other than what BansheeCat said - tell them it's…

Don't set yourself up for failure by hoping for "perfect" anything. It takes a while to reverse the damage we've done to ourselves. We didn't get fat in a day, right? So we're not going to get healthy in a day either. There is absolutely nothing weird or dangerous about keto. Here is some good info with scientific sources…

Cheat days replenish the glycogen stores you work so hard to deplete during keto. Most likely yes, you'll go through some degree of keto flu symptoms if you cheat (probably more significant symptoms the worse the cheat is). All those signs you are experiencing are normal, I'd say. I do recommend a magnesium/potassium…

A stall is pretty common after the first week or so on keto. It's just your body adjusting to the foods you are eating and your lifestyle change. Don't make changes yet - give it another week or two for your hormones to even out and for your body to understand what's going on. If at that point you're still in a stall,…

Because of PCOS I eat relatively low calorie compared to my BMR/TDEE. I think you should try on the higher end, if anything, and lower your calories by 50 or 100 a day every two weeks until you find the number that is your sweet spot for weight loss. It's okay if you're not correct right away; this is a marathon, not a…

I pre-log every day the night before and do not deviate. It makes things so much easier and less stressful.

Erm, wrong. OP there are different variations of low carb. Keto would be under 20g to start - some people (like myself) stick to under 20 after their induction. After that, it's whatever you feel comfortable with. Anything from 50-100 is typically considered low or lower carb. Typically on the SAD people eat about 50%…

Total carbs - dietary fiber - sugar alcohols = net carbs Replace one of the 5 categories you track with fiber and you can calculate your net each day.

Please don't preach at me about this. There are different versions of keto - traditional, targeted, restricted and cyclic. I'm speaking solely on traditional where no, you cannot cheat frequently and be successful. Yes, as with anything, you do need a calorie deficit and cannot eat 10,000 calories a day on keto and think…

Ugh. http://authoritynutrition.com/saturated-fat-good-or-bad/ Fats are good for you - they absorb vitamins and minerals and are necessary in your diet. Eating fat does not make you fat.

You can't really cheat on keto and be successful. You also didn't give yourself a fair chance at it before you cheated. The first two weeks are the hardest - for most people, cravings for carbs are still there and your energy levels usually decrease while your glycogen stores are depleted. I promise if you stick with it…
