Thanks everyone, I’ll take a look :) Will have to see if I need to increase calories for intentional exercise, I suspect as I will be less active generally I can prob stay the same.
-
I think a body weight routine at home sounds quite good, not sure where to start though
-
Had a massive blowout yesterday but back on track today with more protein and healthy fat, I think I just needed to get the post diet madness out of my system!
-
As much as I’d love my whole wardrobe to be size 10 I am keeping my size 12 clothes for winters!
-
Thanks, I think dieting made me lazy in the kitchen and rely on carb based snacks, I’m hoping to enjoy food again so will try looking up protein snack recipes :)
-
Thanks, I’m not actually convinced I’m there yet but after recent advice have decided to give it a go and hope my mindset will follow!

I’m in UK but spend most of day outside and it’s getting cold! I guess it might be hormones, I might have started at the wrong time of the month! I will certainly keep at it, it’s nice to hear it’s quite common, thanks

55% carbs 31% fat 14% protein Ave 30g fibre I am trying to increase protein by having larger portion with dinner (and less potatoes or whatever the carb part happens to be)

Oh but the chocolate milk at the end is the best bit!!!

I’m completely agree winogelato I want food to be quite neutral as in sweets are nice to have sometimes but they are not there to reward good behaviour or make up for disappointment, I really want my daughter to have a healthy relationship with food - I do believe habits are easier to change than attitude.
-
Ps and no artificial sweeteners either
-
Thanks for the replies everyone, I was looking at all the labels on cereal boxes last week and came home empty handed. Have managed to get one of her favourites today and the new recipe is 33% less sugar :)
-
Well she does love sweet stuff but she also loves broccoli and lots of other veg :) I’m not sure if children do have sweeter teeth than adults but I agree it’s a consideration.

I’d be very interested in dexa as my mum has osteoporosis and tells me it hereditary
-
Thank you, that sounds like a really good idea
-
I’m not wooing anyone :/
-
Erm...damage limitation?...I’m in the habit of losing weight and find it rewarding, if it is healthy then fine, if not...I’m not sure where the line is - I know you need to be focused to achieve goals, but knowing when you are too focused is a bit difficult I guess?
-
I’m just not a very good judge of what healthy looks/feels like, looking for a bit of guidance really :/
-
I’ve looked online for a guide to healthy bf% but can’t really find a common answer.
-
Plenty? What would a good bf% be?
-
Sorry, me again! Quick question - does recomp rely on having excess body fat to lose? My scales at telling me I’m 20% (although obviously I’m not expecting high accuracy on that)
-
Thank you :) and thank you for your other responses too, I do appreciate it even if I don’t always agree
-
Oh didn’t mention I HATE SQUATS!! :p
-
Ok Tavistocktoad lets do this :) (I’m fully aware in advance you will have an argument against each reason but they are all valid to me ;)) - I tried strong lifts 2 years ago and although I had good results I got to the stage where I couldn’t lift heavier given the limited equipment at my gym (there’s only so much I can…

Yes you’re right, I think to a certain extent things like that get easier by repetition but I also appreciate strength training would improve my overall performance at work. It’s something I may look into in the future from a performance point of view rather than hoping to achieve a particular aesthetic.
-
I’m a gardener, weed roots can be quite resistant
-
It was an extreme example :) I fully respect people who strength train, recomp etc - it’s just not something I want to aim for right now.
-
Thank you, it was really the health issue I was asking about, I’m not seeking to look perfect and have no intention of parading around in a bikini - I’d honestly settle for looking a tiny bit smaller in jeans.
-
I think the main issue I have with recomp is the change in mindset, I’d go from thinking I’m quite happy with how I look just a little bit further to go to feeling years of hard work off maybe being happy with how I look. Sorry if that doesn’t make sense, I just like the current feeling of nearly being there - if I set a…

There’s definitely spare fat on the back of my thighs but I’ll keep at it short term and speak to the dr when I see them in a few weeks. Thanks everyone. Ps re uterus - I’m not expecting a flat stomach it’s just a little fat at the top, closer to ribs than hips.
