Have you tried doing the elliptical forward for say 2-3 minutes and then doing it reverse for 2-3 minutes. Going back and forth? It uses different muscles and might help keep any one set of muscles from becoming overly sore?? Just an idea :) I did this when I had to stop running for a while due to piriformis syndrome (had…

YEEEESS! This is a negative push up and is very effective at strengthening the arms ... doing "negative" pull ups does this too :)
-
I agree .. who came up with that name anyway?

I am 5' 8" and 4.5 it would be a fast walk for me now ... but before, 4.3 was one of my jogging paces, so it may be relative to how fit you are as well as how long those legs are??

Assuming "press ups" are what I would call "push ups", I had trouble with these at first too. A trainer at my gym suggested I start with "negative" push ups, which is essentially starting in the "Up" part of the push up and very very slowly, lowering yourself down to the floor. It helps to build the muscles. It helped for…

I lost weight and then added strength training and while I'm tone, I'm not bulky. Don't sweat it :)

I agree :) Even if you try an exercise and can only do one (or do one for a short amount of time, like with a plank), focus on the fact that you CAN do one or CAN do a plank for that amount of time ... and then close your eyes and visualize yourself doing TWO or a longer period of time. When you get to two, repeat and…

This right here is over half the battle and you are clearly on your way to success! I agree with the others, I do NOT look at BMI at all any more ... it is very inaccurate.

I believe the correct sentence here is "But there are some exercises I just can't do YET" ... it will come :) You are clearly working towards it and being positive and thinking positively about the future instead of negatively in the present are huge in seeing success. You've got this!!

I have been asked to be a demonstrator for a circuit training challenge video for one of the trainer's at my gym who is putting together his own business website. The video is to be eventually featured on there and is part of the August challenge he extended to his clients which was 100 squats (or leg presses - he has me…

Bwahaha! I LOVE THIS ONE! Now I know I"m not alone ... :)

I have run into this as well and I've determined that they were just "used" to seeing me heavy. I was obese for nearly 12 years ... it's what they became accustomed to and this is very new to them. I am in a very healthy zone right now and under the care of a physician and a trainer. If THEY tell me not to lose more, then…

Look online for stretches for Piriformis syndrome ... I dealt with that for months last year (involves the same nerve) and these stretches really helped!

What you have described is yo-yoing ... which messes with your metabolism. What you need is to continue with a slow, steady and consisent effort both while losing and after you have met your goal. It has to be a real lifestyle change, both with regard to what you put into your body and the amount of energy you ask it to…

High Intensity Interval Training :)

Someone telling me I can't do something is the fastest way to make sure I prove them wrong, particularly with nutrition and exercise! :)

I never really thought about it, but you are totally right. I used to eat at fast food places that way and feed my kids that way and no one said anything, but yet, now that I've lost weight, I have started hearing "don't lose any more weight - you are too skinny" ... when I am now, for the first time in nearly 2 1/2…

The general overall feeling of good health, the ability to be able to be a role model for my kids, particularly my daughter who has a weight issue and to be able to use what I have learned thus far and share it with others to help them become more healthy ... paying it forward :)

You are not eating enough ...

Nice job! You should be very proud of what you have accomplished!

I alternate running and sculpting... I usually average 3-4 runs @ 30 mins plus a week and about 25 minutes of weight training every other day. I have been doing Julian Michaels 30DS on my non-running days. I average 12-15 miles a week when I run!
I did this before as well and when I started doing strength training…

I have Levi's 515 and 505's and love them both b/c I can get them in "long" (I have a 31 1/2" inseam). I just replaced my size 10 jeans with 6's! :) I've NEVER worn a 6 in jeans ... and I'm down to a 4 in dress pants and dresses. I'm 5' 8.5" and 146 lbs :)

That is so great!! Welcome to ONE-DERLAND!!

Absolutely AMAZING!!!

How about enjoying some of Mom's great food ... along with something less caloric? For example, if she's treats you to incredible carnitas ... or enchiladas, cut what you would normally have eaten in half and then add a salad with viniagrette or a light dressing or steamed veggies? This is how I deal with eating at…

INCREDIBLE!!

Photo on the left was in 9/2007 at approx. 240 lbs (which was still 25 lbs below my highest weight of 265, but I have no photos of that). Photo on the right was in late July, 2011 after completing a JM30DS Challenge here on the board at around 152. I am currently at 147 :) edited to shrink photo to fit :)

My lovely friend ... imagine my surprise to run across your beautiful face on here :) You come over to my house and I will make sure that you have shots to share ;) I love and miss you!
I can say the same about you gorgeous! I remember the last party pic's at your house! I don't ever want to see them again! What a…
