If just adding 400-500 calories to your day easily with healthier items is your goal, simply have 2 tbsp peanut butter, an handful of almonds, an avocado, etc. Those are good in moderation, healthy and higher in calories ... but that's only if you really need those extra calories. And the weight didn't go on fast right ...…

If I have a scale handy, I weigh them. Not always possible and when it's not, I want every darn chip :)

I do this too. This happened last night when I scanned a bag of Homai short grain rice. According to the package, a 2/3 cup serving is 155 calories and it scanned at 180. So far that has been the only thing I've scanned that came up wrong ... wonder if my blueberries will come up as beer? Going to have to check that out!…

I found that when I switched the order I was doing this in it helped. By lifting weights first, I was using up glycogen built up (and keep myself from lifting when I was already fatigued from having just done cardio, which puts a lot of people at risk for improper form and injury) so that when I was doing my cardio, I…

If weight loss is the goal, I'm kind of surprised at the food suggestions here. Ice cream, pizza, alcohol ... there are much healthier ways to get the calories you need without all the garbage you don't need. Avocado, raw almonds, peanut butter, fish, hard boiled eggs, etc.

Unless I misread the OP's post, the goal is to lose weight and not look "flabby".

Sweet potato has one of the highest potassium counts, but it is much messier to keep in my purse :)

I love this idea! I may have to do this and post it right on the front of my fridge!! :) Thanks for sharing :)

trying this: :) Just needed to change the capital IMG to lower case img and voila ;)

I am 5'8" and went from a size 24 down to a size 4 (it took 2.5 years and a loss of 126 lbs to do so). That loss however, was not a "maintainable" weight/size for me. After an extremely rough 2013, I am currently in a 10/12 and hope to eventually re-lose 35 lbs to get myself back comfortably into a size 6-8 so I am still…

Comments like this is the very reason I stopped even commenting on this site several months ago - I did not ask to be judged, criticized or to have my step-daughter ridiculed because she is not as "mature" as some teens who are "in college, with full time jobs or who are parents" (which does not, in and of itself, make…

I found both the coffee cake and the lemon bars last night! Have not tried the lemon yet but the coffee cake is MMMMMmmmmm good! I have a night time sweet tooth, so as long as I have 90 cals left at the end of the day, this may be my new 'go to' fix for that. I had one last night, made sure to take small bites and savor…

I LOVE these! I have to make a conscious effort not to eat the whole stinkin' bag in one sitting!

I am going to have to try and find these. Cinnamon Coffee Cake is one of my FAVES!

I am a step parent to a rather picky 17 year old girl (as a result of being allowed to eat only what she wanted (and by this I mean nothing but junk) for her first 15 years) and over the last 2 years, we have come to a couple of "arrangements" in this area. 1) She goes shopping with us and picks what she would like to have…

There is one small theater in my area that I do not sneak food into because the cost of the tickets is lower and the food is reasonably priced, but the last time I took my 2 teenage kids and myself to a movie and bought a large popcorn and sodas for them and small popcorn and a bottle of water for me I was out nearly $65!…

Yesterday, lunch was 1 serving sweet potato fries (baked), oven roasted asparagus with olive oil & kosher salt and a spinach and a feta "cake" (patty) sold at Costco. Today was 2 pan seared tilapia fillets, steamed fresh broccoli and an orange. I will be more creative once I make it to the store :)

1-2 servings of Garden Veggies Crisps from Costco or Trader Joe's Savory Thin Mini Crackers in a ziplock baggie ... and water. But I do usually steal a couple handfuls of my kids' popcorn because I love movie popcorn and it's made fresh :)

Negative self talk is among the top reasons people fail at changing their lifestyle for the better and the mere fact that you realize you are waivering with self-esteem issues is a HUGE step, even though it may not seem like it. In fact, anytime someone on here sends me a friend request and their user name has a negative…

I can and I did ... no fast food for over 2 years now. You can do it, be strong and just remember how much healthier you will be without all the extra grease, salt and fat! That is what got me through the hardest part of breaking that habit :)

This ^^^ Amen.

Water. When you work THAT hard (I'm exhausted just reading it), your muscles hold onto extra water to help replenish and heal themselves so DO NOT let that derail that awesome high girl!!. You are still right on track for that goal Also having a big caloric deficit could have played a very small part, but that won't…

Amen! I've lost 121 lbs in just under 3 years and I agree 100% with the above ... slow, steady and consistent.

You are me ... 3 years ago. I started to lose weight, but the girls remained a full C. Well, I have now lost 121 lbs and I have only 5% of my actual breast tissue left. I am a negative A cup. I will be getting implants in the near future b/c I don't like looking like a boy from the belly button up, so yes, it is possible…

Ha ha ha ... this is great question because at one time, mine was under listed by 105 lbs!! Now, it says I am nearly 20 lbs more than I really am ... and the picture is icky. Maybe I need to "lose" it and get a new one issued? :)

It's a good point. I sometimes feel that I am in danger of being ruled by my diet..... [/quote] If you are looking at it as a 'diet', that is more than likely part of the problem ... I ran across this quote earlier and it is so true ... "Your body is keeping an accurate journal of what you eat regardless of what you write…

Before long you will know what you like, what has high calories and what is low. I am pretty good now at being able to eyeball the correct portions of things as well. Can be frustrating at first ... after a while, it just becomes 2nd nature :)

I was thinking the exact same thing!

Yes. Light headedness could easily turn to passing out and/or dizziness and you are therefore at risk for injury. Think of it this way, which would you prefer to take 1) 1-2 days off due to the flu or 2) 1-2 months off as you recouperate from an injury. Would be a no brainer for me ;o)
