Yesterday's high just came crashing down

I am 2.4 lbs away from my first mini goal of 13.2 lbs by September 30th and was feeling like it was still possible - UNTIL TODAY. Yesterday was such an awesome day for me in terms of exercise. I wear a HRM and seriously kicked @$$. I had a 1 hour session with my personal trainer and burned 1025 cals, I cleaned an office building for 2 hours and burned 461 cals, and then went to a ZUMBA fundraiser and burned 1287 cals. I was whipped, but felt great, til about 20 minutes ago. I got up and couldn't wait to step on the scale (Even though it is not my weigh in day). I gained 2.2 lbs!?!??!?!?! I am thinking it is because I had a ridiculously high calorie defecit yesterday because I just could not eat back all the exercise calories, but I am still bummed. Have plans for the gym today and am trying to stay positive, but right now, I am not a happy camper.
Thanks for letting me vent.

Wow - you make me tired just reading all of the exercise you listed! I find that it is hard to not weigh myself everyday, but sometimes it is a let down when it doesn't give you expected results. My advice - stick to your plan and keep moving - it will pay off and you will look great!0

I have this thing called fake weight and real weight...you know what you weigh but due to water or just that time it will move around....don't let that get to you just hold the course....0

When is your official weigh-in day?
This may sound strange, but I find that I will often gain when I exercise, until I take a day off.
I weigh myself after not working out the day before, and I have lost a few pounds again...
Not too sure if it's water, or what it is...
Please don't get discouraged though!
You KNOW that you are working hard, and the scale WILL show it soon enough!0 -
I am pretty sure all of that activity caused your muscles and joints to retain water. Do not let this get you down! It is physically impossible to gain 2.2lbs of fat over night unless you ate 7,000 calories over your exercise and BMR which I am sure you didn't. I would just continue your program and weigh again in a few days:-) Hang in there, you are doing great!0

Hi Mandy...
I am feeling a little down myself as for "7 months" I have lost weight every single week only staying the same weight once in all those months, then to my horror on tuesday I got weighed and I had gained a pound somehow... I know I have not been stuffing my face as I watch what I eat daily... to know some else is experiencing the same sort of thing just gives me that little push to conquer this thing... we can do this!!!... I went to the gym yesterday and burnt over 1000 cals and intend to go to the gym again tomorrow... I have done some sits this morning but in the back of my mind I am a little worried just incase the scales do not show the work I have put in this week... when I weighin on monday, I feel under alot of pressure as the ladies at my slimming club ask me every week what I have lost as they know about me loosing weight every week which making me feel a little down right now... anyway I hope you will continue to achieve great things... you know how hard you have worked and I am sure it will pay off soon... I hope that for myself too0 -
Water. When you work THAT hard (I'm exhausted just reading it), your muscles hold onto extra water to help replenish and heal themselves so DO NOT let that derail that awesome high girl!!. You are still right on track for that goal Also having a big caloric deficit could have played a very small part, but that won't normally be a big factor until you are seeing a large deficit on a regular basis.
You can do this ... slow, steady, consistent. The extra exercise in one day won't make a permanent adjustment to your weight any more than falling off the nutritioin wagon and eating horrible for just one day will make a permanent adjustment to your weight. Just remember, it's a long journey and that was just one day. You've totally go this!!0 -
I am sitting in the same boat as you. I have steadily lost weight weekly for the past month and then yesterday an almost 4 pound increase. I started crying. It's not my tom and I have not done anything different other than lightly started adding in a little weights this week.
It is discouraging, but if you know that you are giving it your all- that is all that matters.0 -
I'm SURE it's water weight....The first week that I started working out, I gained 3 lbs. It's just your muscles using water to recover themselves...and after your day, they need all the help they can get! Haha!
Give it a few days and it will fall off, I guarantee it. And you'll start seeing losses again! You're doing great, I think we're ALL impressed with the amount of exercise you did! wow!0
