  • I understand what it's like working with people who are unhealthy and over weight. I work with many people like that. 2 of them are on Weight Watchers, and have been for several months and have put on a lot of weight since joining it because they have no self control over how they eat. It makes me extremely self conscious…
  • I understand. I've been trying to loose my last 5 for about 2 weeks. All after 35 came off in under 3 months.
  • I think GNC sells protein mixes and all kinds of other supplements that aren't vitamins right? I use a stacker multi vitamin. It was the best thing I ever did. I don't know if it aided in weight loss or not. The particular one that i take ended up giving me a lot more energy, and seemed to curb my appetite a little, though…

  • Resting from working out ie, lifting weights, is different than resting from cardio.
  • There's nothing that says you can't do cardio everyday. The only reason that I've ever seen, is if you are feeling it the next day or two, you need a rest. Most people don't need a break from it though if they're not doing more than they can handle.
  • I like www.eatingwell.com in addition to some of the others here. Most recipes have nutrition facts on the site so you know what you're in for before you make it.
  • I know my fiance has multiple time gained 10 pounds at her time of the month. Mostly water weight, because it drops right back off when it's over. Also, I was lazy this past weekend and put on 3 pounds. Before this weekend I was only 3.4 pounds from my goal weight, and now I'm 6.4 pounds. I understand the man sized…
  • My recommended calories are only 1200, so I am usually at that, and eat my exercise calories back as well. I usually have about 700-725 in exercise calories to eat.
  • also, lifting on machines isn't a bad thing to get you used to the proper form of lifting free weights. The number one most important thing in free weight lifting is the proper form. It not only keeps you from hurting yourself, but it helps build the muscles the right way.
  • you can lift as low of reps as you want, with the most weight you can do and you will NOT bulk up. The reason men bulk up is because they have much large amounts of testosterone than women do. Unless you start taking some sort of testosterone supplement you will NOT bulk up.
  • I'm also using just this site. Mainly to keep a better record of my calories. I lost about 13 pounds before using this site, and have since lost another 19.
  • Nice work. I have 5 pounds to lose before I start trying to start gaining back in muscle. What sort of diet plan are you following for that?
  • I do some form of cardio, usually an elliptical 5-7 days a week. You won't find many that will say running multiple days in a row is a bad thing, unless as already mentioned, you body is in pain.
  • I think a lot of that will depend on your body composition, and definitely how much you're eating, and how much exercise you do. I've seen studies that show that people who are very obese can do up to 2 hours of cardio a day safely. Obviously if you spent every day burning 4000+ calories you'd be in pretty rough shape, but…
  • I have been on 1200 for 2.5 months. I do a lot of cardio (roughly 800 calories worth 5+ times a week). It gets me 800 more calories to eat on those days. Thus far I've lost 17 pounds on MFP. I'd lost 13 before joining. So total I'm right at 30 pounds of loss since the beginning of March. It has been difficult, and there…

  • I have always consumed massive amounts of water, so when i got on the track of losing weight, it was easy for me. A dietitian/person trainer told me once, "water is everything and it is nothing" Your body is mostly made up of water, and it also can help act as a filler. This is a good article on water and why it's…
  • work up to goals of time walking and biking in the heat. start out at 10 or 15 minutes and increase the time slowly.
  • I would say that if you really have a HEALTHY ideal weight and you are here for yourself, then you will do just fine. If you are here to please other people, reaching those goals will be much more difficult to obtain, and then retain once you do meet them.
  • Greek yogurt has a ton, peanut butter has a good amount too. I eat a lot of meat (90% chicken and turkey) and I'm constantly over on my protein intake, sometime over by far too much.

  • From what I have noticed, this issue seems to be a personal preference. Some people just take a little bit of "cheating" on occasion, others have cheat days to help satisfy/kill cravings other wise they fall off the bus, and still others can't have cheat days at all and have to completely avoid that type of food otherwise…

  • mmmmm rubberbands.
  • Boars head is what i would reccomend as well. The price will be greatly different that what you're used to though. I'm not sure what grocers you have in your area, but I know where I live a lot of the higher end stores carry it, and then the smaller town markets also carry it.
  • I personally don't think it's that much of an issue if you're only having this happen once every few months. Those things won't kill you. I have certain days that i want certain things, and I either exercise harder that day or just have to deal with it when it comes to my alloted calories for the day.

  • I actually just posted on another topic about body fat calculators. Have a look at the article, it will help you realize how inaccurate most body fat tools are. http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=56830
  • I'm not sure what your definition of "low" is. From what I've ever read, for a woman being below 12-14% has no real benefit. Lifting weights is important for decreasing body fat, however, the most important thing in lowering body fat is by tearing your diet apart and really putting the macro nutrients under a microscope.…
  • Here's a good article on body fat measuring tools. http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=56830

  • I don't see how stepping on a scale could even get your remotely close to an accurate body fat percentage. If you have ever seen how body fat is accurately measured, you know why I say that. I would venture to say that a bodybuilder that was 6' 2" and weighed 230 pounds and was at an actual percentage of about 7 or 8 on…

  • I'm on roughly 90 days since I've really started trying to lose. So far I've lost 26 pounds, and all of my clothes are fitting me better again. My goal is another 6-11 pounds. I have seen a big change in myself, but different people will see different results. For instance if I'm 30 pounds overweight to start, and lose 30…
  • To a degree this is true. I allow myself to eat a few cookies here and there. Technically if someone wanted to lose weight on a chocolate chip cookie diet, it could be done. As long as there was a calorie deficiency, you WOULD lose weight. Your body would most likely hate you, you'd be hungry all the time, probably tired…
  • Also, saturated fats aren't as bad as most people think. there are a lot good reasons to consume the right amount of saturated fats.
