  • It would be virtually impossible to quit sugar since it's naturally found in so many foods. I restrict "added" sugar and watch how much fruit I eat in a day because I was borderline diabetic before I started losing weight, but you can't avoid natural sugar altogether in a nutritious diet.
  • Usually...Sometimes I get lazy if it looks like I'm going to have leftover calories for the day anyway and say, "that's about 100g of broccoli"...in the grand scheme, the broccoli and spinach calories aren't going to add up too much if I'm off by 20g. Things like potatoes, carrots, etc that are higher calorie, I'd be more…
  • Great job! Nice swim suit.
  • You will be asked to open your diary. Without your stats (weight, height, etc) and an open diary, you can't get relevant advice.
  • I tried it...exactly the same weight with both feet or one foot in middle of scale...on my scale anyway. ymmv
  • Do you have a reason for giving up coffee? Why find an alternative? Love my coffee. Don't touch my coffee! If you have some sort of reason for giving it up, then it's hard to suggest if we don't know why. I could suggest tea, but if caffeine is the problem, then it wouldn't be a helpful suggestion.
  • I go to the gym first thing in the morning before work because that's where I can make the time and because I'm too done in at the end of a work day to focus on my workout. This means I have to get out of bed at 430 am, which sucks *kitten*, but it's how I make time. On top of my morning lifting sessions, I try to take in…
  • How important is it to meet your calorie goal? It's important. It's not the end of the world to be a few calories shy or over here and there, but it is important to get enough food to be healthy. I think it was pointed out already that with IBS it may be even more important for you since your body may not be efficiently…
  • Just no
  • The first big losses usually are water weight and then you'll level off to smaller losses. You'll need to wrap your head around the fact that some weeks won't show a loss to avoid devastation. You might show no loss one week and twice as much as you were expecting another week. It all balances out. So many things can…
  • This is me, too. The one thing I can judge well is peanut butter...I'm usually within a fraction of a gram for what a tbsp weighs. I've been weighing and measuring my food for a year and I'm still not confident enough to eyeball everything.
  • You've lost 4.4 lbs in 11 days if I'm reading this right. I'm not seeing the problem. How long is this standstill you've been at? Weightloss is not linear. You can easily go several days without showing a loss. Weigh once a week to avoid seeing daily fluctuations if they bother you.
  • Calorie reduction and weight lifting has worked for me. I do eat lower carb...<100 usually because I had blood sugar issues I'm trying to correct/keep in check, but generally I do the same things everyone else does to lose weight whether they have PCOS or not.
  • 2 lbs a month is a good rate for healthy, sustainable loss. How much you work out is a personal thing and depends on your goals. I go to the gym 3-4x per week for strength training/weightlifting sessions and to yoga 1-2x per week, depending how much time I have to fit it in. Beyond that I walk the dog or walk on the…
  • Near as I can figure without paragraphs, you had a controlling boyfriend, broke up, and are still allowing him to control you for some reason. Listen to your friends. Cut your losses and move on. The guy is a douche.
  • I lost weight and took up strength training...my cholesterol used to be high and now it's not. I don't eat anything specific to bring it down, though my diet is higher in fats and protein than carbs and as part of reducing calories I tend to eat healthier...more veggies and lean meats than I did in the past. I don't eat a…
  • I chalk it up to a bad decision moment and move on. What I've learned in a year of this is one bad day or meal won't derail all your progress unless you let it. If you feel bad or get a case of the screw its and keep eating too much, then you're in trouble. If you say "oops" and get back on track, it's a minor…
  • This...pre-log, pre-log, pre-log....I'm a year in and still pre-log most of the time to know what my day is going to look like and whether what I'm taking out to thaw for supper is going to fit my goal. You will have to make effort to plan ahead and it won't always be convenient. If you can't do it now, surgery won't solve…
  • I did my first hot yoga class last night. At the time, I didn't think it was anything special...didn't work harder than I do in my regular yoga classes. This morning, though, I noted I slept like I haven't in a long time and felt really good, so it did something good for me.
  • Everything they said above. It's absolutely worth it.
  • I think I have to agree with Stef...sounds like a money grab. None of us are put together perfectly and everyone has little body quirks, I'm sure, but it seems he sounds to me like a mechanic finding extra things wrong with a car to drive up the bill. Anyone not learning proper form is at risk of injury, so a good trainer…
  • It sounds nasty
  • I think you can eat more...I started my weight loss at 205 and 5'3 and could eat more and still lose at a decent rate, so with your stats, you could eat more if you want. I'd get the hair loss checked out. Could be nutritional or hormone (maybe PCOS) issue or just one of those things, but it's worth keeping an eye on. I…
  • Yes, but it would rarely fit in my calorie goal unless it was a little home made one. When I go burger, I like to go big *kitten* baconator and fries. As a petite female, my calorie allowances just aren't high enough to fit that in unless I eat very little the rest of the day. That said, I let myself indulge once in a…
  • I don't know much about gastric sleeve diets, but the little I thought I knew was high protein. You eat pretty low protein. I do have PCOS and know something about that and again, lower carb ratios are what you need for PCOS. I'm not immune to days where I eat too many carbs, but it seems to be the bulk of your nutrition…
  • Is that 7.12 stone? Isn't that about 100lb?
  • On weekdays I go at 5am before work cuz it's quiet and I don't have to share as much. On weekends I give myself a break to sleep in and go around 9am. Rarely do I go in the late afternoon or evening.
  • I scrolled back through a couple weeks and you don't eat 1400 or under very often, so I don't think starvation mode is a concern. I'd suggest tightening up logging to weigh everything and eat only half your exercise calories for a while to see how it goes. Doesn't look like you've been at this all that long yet, so give it…
  • Great job. It's on my list to do.
