  • I have no idea how long it will take before I lose all the basic fat around my middle and thighs. All I know is that I will not be too hard on myself if it takes more than a year because I have come so far already. Always give yourself a pat on the back for changing your habits and exercising more. Every change is…
  • Sounds like you need to eat more. 1200 calories is what doctors used to prescribe in the 60'sand 70's when they didn't know any better.
  • I don't usually eat all the exercise calories. On days when I do a long bike run oddly enough I'm not always super hungry.
  • I'm back to cycling after not doing it for a few years. Loving it! Sometimes I ride with my husband, other times by myself or with a meetup group. I like to go at least for an hour but i have cycled as much as 4 hours. Tallying up the hours per month is a good idea! I use the Endomondo sports tracker app to log my distance…
  • Where the heck do you get fair trade ethically sourced chocolate? (I'm in Ontario)
  • Once in awhile i have a couple dates. They have natural sugar and also fibre and other nutrients, so at least it isn't processed sugar. But if i want chocolate, and low cal hot chocolate doesn't cut it, I actually have a piece of dark chocolate or a chocolate chip cookie as a last resort. We're not angels.
  • Sugar. I eat low sugar cereals. Spoon size shredded wheat and bran has 0 sugar added. Compare it to others at 9 or 15 g of sugar. Huge difference. I put fresh fruit on it. I do indulge once in awhile, like ice cream, but I try to keep it to a minimum. I rarely have sugared beverages. Don't like them really. Sugar is the…
  • That was exactly my response. Reads like an ad for sure, dangling a supposed carrot. If you're not willing to say how you did it directly then it's bogus.
  • I hate to say it because you have a mission but accept yourself as you are for the wedding. Have fun and enjoy yourself. Seriously. Losing weight quickly is never a good idea. Cut way back on sugar, which is more a culprit than fats. Eat regular healthy food. Stay away from diet gimmicks and products. Make sure you have a…
  • Whoa! Way to go! You made an amazing transformation. That's a lot of hard work and seeing you so slender now makes me realize how much more I can accomplish.
  • Nice to see that you've had so many replies! This is a great supportive community. I am 58 and have been way too overweight for years. I have lost weight a few times but this is the time to go all the way and keep it off! The trick is not to do fad diets. Just make good food choices with fibre and protein and fruits and…
  • one of my friends told me that her surgeon recommended she bicycle or get knee surgery. she bicycles. but ask your doctor.
  • I would think your metabolism would slow down if you go too low those days. But I'm not a nutritionist.
  • Actually, I DO love exercise. I bicycle, and sometimes I see deer on the trail. I started aquafit and my rec centre has aquabike and aqua bootcamp. I just did a color 5k run (Color me rad) and i am finding that exercise is fun! I got bored years ago at a gym eventually but now I am really having fun discovering new…
  • Thanks for the advice on fitness blender!
  • Thanks for the fb swings recommendation. I will check it out.
  • I've had 3 classes so far and I enjoy using the kettlebells although I'm wondering what it would be like with a different instructor. I'm learning some basic moves but also a few moves like the woodchopper that I think is a little advanced. I am careful with using nothing too heavy for me and also knowing when to move it…
  • 100 swings is fantastic!
  • Thank you to everyone who mentioned acupuncture and needling for a heel spur. I am going to try this. I started with a heel spur about 2 years ago when i wore just flat shoes on a week's holiday. agony after that. i walk sideways downstairs every morning and then my foot limbers up during the day. i used to have pain…
  • That's great that you have had so much success! I am sold on my kettlebells. I even took them with me on vacation this week and used them outside at a friend's cottage. i really need to strengthen my core and I have already found that at at least on one exercise I am ready to go up to a 15 pound.
  • If you want both cardio and strength training, kettlebells are the way to go. I am taking a class at a local recreation centre. It's $55 and I'm learning moves that I can then use at home with my own kettlebells. It's a workout that burns calories like crazy. If you rent a video from your local library you can hopefully…
  • Thanks. I will be careful. Starting a class in a week.
  • His young age alone doesn't make him more desireable than you. Rethink your attributes. Do you have female friends you can hang around with and a social life separate from your husband? Our outside life brings extra support to us and boosts our already existing confidence.
  • Whether it was out of anger or not, his remarks show a lack of respect. So make sure you respect yourself, whether you lose weight or not. You are special and think of all the positive things about you. Calling names is bullying. This website is hugely motivating by tracking food intake and exercise and progress. If you…
  • I agree. My coworker switched from WW to here and we both love the features! You know by your tracking if you need to step up the exercise at night or to lay off the sodium. Great website!
  • It depends on your injury and what your doctor thinks you can do but my co-worker's dr told her that he could either do knee surgery on her or she could use her exercise bike for good results. She chose the bike and is doing great. I am also using a stationary bike because of my heel spur.and I am losing a lot of weight…
  • Are you only eating 1260 calories a day? If so I think your body is trying to conserve calories. I eat just under 2000 calories a day and I have been losing very well the past few weeks. I exercise 3 to 4 times a week for about half an hour, more if I feel like it. U need a lot of nutrition and 1260 calories just doesn't…
  • I decided to do two things to get me started. I exercise 4 times a week for 30 mins and I eat 5 fruits/vegetables each day. I also take food to work so that I don't walk over to tim Horton's. Those things alone made a huge difference. And believe in yourself. So far I have lost over 20 pounds this year and my blood sugars…
