  • My health coach advised me to buy a large candy bar that I like at the grocery store. Each night when I crave ice cream, eat a single piece of the candy bar and wait fifteen minutes. This is enough time for your brain to realize that it has satisfied it's craving for something sweet. It takes some self restraint but it…
  • I always had trouble keeping earbuds in my ears. Since I started working out I bought a pair of JVC XX earbuds at K Mart for $15. Best purchase ever besides my skullcandy headphones.
  • refer to the bathroom as the "little boys room".
  • The biggest thing to realize is that it has become an issue and you are already taking steps to remedy your situation. Sometimes we have to hit that point of "disgust" to help us realize how far we let ourselves go. It's going to take some time and a lot of hard work, but it will be worth it in the end.
  • Thank you all! I'd been wondering about that question for about a week now and you put my mind at rest.
  • This morning one of my co workers brought in breakfast pizza because she won $500 on a scratch off. I had two slices and managed to resist eating anymore. It was delicious.
  • I use Stevia in the Raw in my coffee every morning. I have no issues with it. My health coach told me it was a healthier alternative to regular sugar.

  • Pan searing is cooking the outside of a meat (or other product), at a high temperature for a short period of time, browning the item. The item is usually then placed in an oven to finish cooking at a low temperature for a longer period of time. Pan searing basically ensures that the juices stay inside the meat.
  • Thank you. I just wasn't sure if it would be a hindrance to my weight loss or not.
  • Beans, tofu, seitan. I have always been a fan of seitan. It tastes better than tofu(imo) and is high in protein.
  • Is it the chocolate that you are craving? My health coach told me that if I crave chocolate, to eat a piece of chocolate and wait fifteen minutes.
  • I think the main idea is just so you can visualize what you should be eating. Like anything else, the more you do it, the more comfortable you get with it. Eventually you can set aside the scale with your common meals because you will have a better understanding of proper portion sizes.
  • I had a difficult time logging my dinner tonight. I got a sub from a local pizza shop. I tried to dissect it best I could and log it that way. I still ended up 1200 calories under with what i did log, so I think I am in pretty good shape for the day.
  • My favorite method is easy: 1 sheet of tin foil. A few slices of lemon salmon butter salt and pepper Lay out the tin foil, place a few lemon slices on the tin foil. Place the salmon on the lemon slices, season with salt and pepper. Add some butter. Wrap it up tightly and bake in the oven at 300 for 25 minutes.
  • I have one of the first generation Fitbit's. I've had it since spring of 2011 and absolutely love it! Mine clips to my pocket. It helps push me to do more steps and the website it a great tool as well. I even purchased Fitbit's scale. I recommend it for sure if you want a good sturdy pedometer.
  • When staff stand in front of the bicep curl chatting it up for 45 minutes. I just did all my other weights and saved it til last when they decided to stop. I always wipe down my machines afterwards, sometimes even stopping someone from getting on it before I can wipe it down. I sweat a lot.
  • I don't necessarily have specific songs I listen to. I do have a workout playlist on my ipod, but I don't always adhere to it. Some stuff I like to listen to: Deftones Daft Punk Alkaline Trio Junkie XL Aesop Rock Tool Filter Coheed and Cambria Jay Z
  • I try to go for the 80/20 lifestyle. 80% of the time, make good choices. The other 20% of the time, can be for your "bad" choices. I think one day once in a while is a good thing for you. You shouldn't feel guilty over a special day. On Monday maybe do a few extra minutes during your workout, or plan some healthier meals.…
  • I was diagnosed with OSA just this past fall. My doctor told me that being obese doesn't help the situation however, most of the time the apnea is caused by the stretching of the muscles in your throat creating a thinner windpipe. Perhaps losing weight may not completely solve the apnea, but it may help alleviate it.
  • Water is good but be sure to drink some gatorade or other type of sports drink once in a while. It's important to replenish your electrolytes!
  • Thank you. It isn't a matter of "can do", but more "will do". It's great when people with a common goal can get together and support each other. It makes the negatives less bitter and the positives more sweet!
  • Thank you. Great job on your progress as well. I sent an invite, we can all use support!
  • I weigh myself every morning when I first wake up. All my weigh ins are automatically logged since I use the Fitbit Aria scale. The only numbers I really pay attention to are usually Sunday's. Once a week I check to see how I did. My weight loss has not been in significant amounts so I know that I won't see big losses.…
  • I too have been lifting weights and doing cardio since the end of December. As of current my weight loss has been 13 pounds. My doctor told me that if I am lifting weights, the scale will not move as much as if I were just doing cardio. Most of the changes I have noticed have been more appearance based than scale based. My…
