It's the first Monday or each month at mine. And boy is it yummy.

The point was explained by the OP. She wants a scale that behaves like an analog scale only with a digital readout. That isn't a crazy request. She uses an example of weighing her dog that clearly explains one reason such a thing might be useful.

What? Not gonna conquer cold fusion?

I know that feeling. The 6 mile mark was my emotional one. It is an incredible feeling when you do the seemingly impossible.

Gonna watch the glaciers in Alaska crash into the ocean from the point of view of a kayak....Someday

The first thing I noticed was my pants stopped feeling like they were cutting me in half from being so tight. The second big change was that the natural "padding" in my butt disappeared. Sitting on hard surfaces is now a totally new experience...haha. I now have a 1" piece of foam on my desk chair that I didn't need prior…

I will eat like a pig on Thanksgiving Day...and Christmas Day....and I'll live it up on New Years eve. All other days, I will follow the same plan I've been following. A few really bad days won't hurt the long haul.

Oh...I hate to say this, but I don't think I could handle a cruise if I was trying to lose weight. 90 percent of most cruises is about the food. It makes me hungry just thinking about it. My advice is to eat it up and enjoy. Then make sure you get back on track when you get back. I recently gained 5 lbs on vacation and…

Protein bars work for me in a pinch. They really stave off the hunger and some of them taste great. I'm partial to the Pure Protein peanut butter flavor. I also pack fruit like apples and bananas. The other things you list are great too.

I'm pretty happy with my height. Straight up 6 feet.

Love that.

I hate prednisone! It makes me feel like crap. Is there no other alternative for you?

I would not try for that goal. You may achieve it, but it will not contribute well to future and/or present fitness. As a previous poster said, you will be very likely to gain it all back. Losing weight is a long slow process with no quick fixes. It truly is all about time and consistency.

Once in a while I have a "screw it" night where I eat and/or drink pretty much whatever I want. I look at it as long-haul approach. One high calorie day once in a while isn't going to hurt as long as you get right back in the groove the next day. I vote for drinking what you like. Just don't do it too often.

My kids are huge part of my fitness goals as well. I don't want to be the dad who can't play ball with them when they get a little older.

I love how you can sometimes trace big accomplishments back to decisions made in a single moment. Good story.

Marylin Monroe....It's uncanny.

I'm not even halfway to my goals yet, but since visiting this forum so much lately I've developed a new appreciation (admiration) for the hutzpa it takes for someone who is seriously out of shape to go and publicly work out. At the gym, there is this one guy who is extremely large that I can see working his butt off almost…

My work schedule is nearly identical. I work out right after work on Tuesdays and Thursdays (this includes a 2+mile run). I don't eat supper until I get home. My wife takes care of the kids so I can do this. On Wednesdays and Mondays, I do the same for her. On Sundays, I do longer runs and another workout. Since my gym is…

I vote for eat it. I agree....I say eat it!

I don't believe PF has a policy stating no well-muscled and/or fit people are allowed. They simply have a dress code and a code of conduct that many well-muscled people disagree with. These people choose not to go. Except like I said, at my PF there are many fit looking people there every time I go...and no one kicks them…

I did kind of note that it would be hard for some to understand. I really like you "training wheels" idea though. I would have jumped at something like that. I can only go with my own experience and at my PF in NE Pensacola Florida, I DO see some very pumped up people working out each time I go. I've often wondered why…

I've been following this conversation concerning the "judgement" factor in gyms. The truth is, each gym has a certain flavor. Each also works to attract a specific kind of clientele. And that's ok. Some gyms do cater to "muscle-heads". Some cater to "fatties". Some don't give a crap as long as you pay your monthly fee. And…

This is huge. I love salmon and broccoli night at my house. That's loads of protein and I can eat tons with very few calories. It really reduces the night time snacking on the high cal stuff.

I find strength exercises to be a little boring, but I do 'em anyway. Sometimes I listen to political podcasts to get my blood pumping.... Running on the other hand is wonderful. I never get bored running as long as it's not on a track or a treadmill. Again, I listen to podcasts, but for running I listen to more science…

Fontinella! It is a little crumbly, a little sharp, and the most delicious cheese EVER. And I'm a major cheese lover. I can't find it in my area, but each year I make a trip to visit family in Ohio where we stop at "Grandpa's Cheese Barn" and buy some. I usually eat it within a week of getting home...it is soooooo good! Of…

Just remember, it's a long journey. Keep the end in sight. This is just the start. You can do this. If you can do 20, you can do 100. Don't let the moment get you down.

I seriously injured my knee trying to go from a 15K to a half-marathon too quickly. I heartily recommend ramping up slowly. The too-much-too-soon injury has cost me over six months so far.... Don't let the same happen to you. On an up note, I'm running again now, but I'm way back at the under 5K mark while my knee(s) fully…

My food diary is open. All advice (solicited or not) is always welcome. My skin is pretty thick.

From what I can see, Dr Oz only promotes something when someone pays him to do so. He's obviously a paid spokesman who is for sale to the highest bidder. I wouldn't put any stock into anything he has to say.
