First, let your hunger and your milk supply be your guide, no matter what the numbers "should" be. Your body knows what you ate and will tell you if you haven't had enough. And second, make sure you're measuring your food accurately. If you feel like you're eating plenty but not enough calories are showing up on your…

MSG (goes by many names and is ubiquitously present in protein powder), processed meats, and red and yellow food coloring.

Acorn squash can be baked, cut in half, and stuffed with beans and rice for a pretty main dish.
-
Slice zucchini and yellow squash in thin lengthwise strips and use in place of noodles in lasagna. Yum! Also, if you're in a pinch for a vegetable side, you can just slice it and microwave...

An Army "rest day" is when the Sergeant picks you up by the collar, sets you on your feet, and screams "IT AIN'T BROKEN NOW, IS IT?" I'm sure he'll get plenty of those. Military science, hooah!

Hamburger Helper or just about anything that comes out of a box.

Eat slowly and enjoy your food. Everyone else will be inhaling theirs, so you'll go through one plate and everyone else will have three. Everyone's happy :)

Peanut butter & banana sandwich or a tomato sandwich with avocado on Dave's Killer Bread, which packs 6 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber per slice. Nummy

I don't really prep whole meals ahead of time, since I have a tiny dollhouse fridge, but I chop several batches of carrots, onions, and celery at once so I can get dinner on faster. Those three things seem to be in everything I cook. When I'm canning in the summer, I'll do half-pints of all of the above so I can just open…

Well, if you want to know which late night snacks are vegan, PETA has a web page called "Accidentally Vegan" that lists all the junk food you could want. (My favorite: Ritz crackers. Can't leave them alone. And then there are Oreos. And beer.) For healthy vegan snacks, I've been eating edamame, toast with guacamole and…

Beer. And wine, and whisky. And stuff from Denny's.

Ha! I appreciate the practical take on scheduling.

Thanks, all. My real question is "What time will I need to get up to jog the 2.9 miles (just short of 5K) to my first meeting?" We're lucky enough to have showers and locker rooms at work; I'm just trying to work out the details. I had two co-workers finish Boston this year, so I was inspired to pick up running.

A good balance of protein, carbs/fiber, and a bit of fat will keep you full. Dave's Killer Bread packs 6 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber per slice, so I have two of those with peanut or almond butter and a banana. You can make a good bread like that into French toast--just make an egg or soy milk batter without any…

You know what men love? Women who saunter into their lives and try to fix them. His body, his business. Back off.

How's your water intake? It sounds like you could be pretty dehydrated. Be sure you're getting plenty of fiber as well. Healthy fats are good, but they aren't likely to help constipation.

I feel you. I've been on 2000 mg sodium and my BP is still through the roof, so I'm dropping to 1500. Gaaah!! Don't know how I'm going to do it! One meal at a time, I suppose.

You will be if you keep that attitude! Take a deep breath and start again. The new habits you need won't develop overnight, and one McFlurry won't make or break a lifetime of eating.

Talk with your doc about it. There are some pills that are worse for weight gain than others, and pills affect everyone differently. If the pill you take causes weight gain for you, you can switch to a different one.

I've based my whole diet on this. In fact, I'm going to rent my kid out just for this purpose. I'm seriously going to get rich. INTRODUCING: THE TEENAGE BOY DIET!! How it Works: Take my teen to the restaurant with you and order whatever you want. He's programmed to say he's "not hungry." When your food arrives, the teen…

Mist it with olive oil, then add garlic salt, oregano, and nutritional yeast. It's garlic bread popcorn!

Coffee, and lots of it.

Me too! It's tough to get back to being vegan after 10 years of quashing your cognitive dissonance, but now that the meat-loving in-laws are DEAD OF CANCER, I'm getting back into it. Please feel free to friend me, anyone :)

Free-market solution: Let MFP increase the accuracy of its own database and make that an advertising strategy. If people want the most accurate database, they'll find it. Now pass the strudel.

I lost 60 lbs and ended up with big gallstones. I'm a natural healing kind of girl, but gallstones don't go away once they're there. I went for the surgery.

I'm a vegan-in-training, but I think I've been "in transition" for the last year and it's time to pull the trigger. If anyone wants to be a vegan battle buddy, please add me. (I think my key problem is that Oreos, Ritz crackers, potato chips, and beer are all still vegan. I could use some encouragement sticking with…

They multiply when you're not looking. Like little bunnies with frosting.

Check out my favorite cookbook, The Passionate Vegetarian. She has a whole section on beans. I also love my chickpea salad--2 cups cooked, half-mashed chickpeas (or one can, no salt added), one small chopped red onion, 2 or 3 ribs chopped celery, Mrs. Dash lemon-pepper seasoning, and enough vegenaise (or yogurt, if you…

If you have oil in your recipe, you can substitute peanut butter. You could also add PB2 to your dry ingredients. Awesome with bananas, BTW. You could also experiment with tofu--silken soft tofu has a consistency like yogurt when beaten in the food processor, so you might be able to do something with that. Let us know how…

THIS!! I'm a third generation anorexic. Two of us have recovered, but my grandma is still posting on Facebook about her latest dieting scheme. She's over 70!! Dog save me from pinching inches at that age. Does. Not. Matter. I'm so sorry your mom is putting you through this. Among other things, she's been conditioned by a…
