Foods trigger my rosacea badly, and tomato sauce/juice is one of my biggest problems. (Alcohol too--if I have a Bloody Mary, I'll look like a traffic light for a week.) Nightshades could be a problem for you, or it could be something else entirely. Google rosacea food triggers, then compare that list with your food diary.…

Thanks for sharing this. It seems like a pretty sane guideline.

Mine is open. I've been out of the logging groove because I've been sick and it's finals week, but I'm getting back to it.

Wow, sounds like a bummer :( No sugar added applesauce, plain yogurt, natural peanut butter, and cottage cheese are what come to mind.

Because of limited to nonexistent opportunities for buy fresh food. Google "food desert."

They are. People who have been incarcerated show 25% accelerated mortality throughout their lifetimes, or an expected reduction of ten years. (http://aje.oxfordjournals.org/content/early/2011/01/14/aje.kwq422.full). The difference is mostly attributable to the mosaic effects of poverty, however (think violence, drug and…

I'm autistic and so is my boy, so I totally get it. How about some roasted chickpeas? Those are crunchy and nice. Tuna, maybe? Protein bars? Cottage cheese? A different kind of meat? You could try changing the texture of the meat as suggested above, by grinding or shredding it. You can also Google "vegan protein" for…

Actually, for a family of 4, a food stamp allotment is $649 per month. If you're spending $600 and buying organic, I'd say you're doing great. Our budget for two adults and one teenage athlete is pretty similar to yours: $140 per week. I'm still pretty new to clean eating myself, but I've been planning meals for a long…

It could have nothing to do with your diet an exercise, and more to do with the change of seasons. Barometric pressure changes trigger migraines, and allergy season is upon us.

I'm an egg girl. Spinach & mushroom omelette. Or, like today, nuts and a piece of fruit, which is easy to grab at 7-Eleven if I have to get out of the house in a hurry. It keeps me out of the doughnuts, anyway.

I'm definitely blaming the crackers for the bulk of the problem--MSG is not my friend. Feeling like a horse's *kitten* did make it easier to pass up the Peeps at the grocery store last night. In other news, I taught my son to read nutrition labels yesterday.

Rachael Ray always says twice around the pan is two tablespoons, so when I use olive oil for sauteeing, etc.,, I just log two tablespoons. It's a good question, though--we're here, to some extent, to question our assumptions about what we're eating.

You are SO right! Heaven forbid that one suggest that food can affect one's mental health. I'm glad to find this little community to be free of torches and pitchforks.

What does your doctor say about this? Have you seen a podiatrist? Orthotics, physical therapy, or surgery could probably help.

How long have you been taking it? If you can tolerate the Topamax, give it a week. Your appetite should come back.

Well NOW I am. That girl is just cuter than oh-my-heck.

This is one of my goals, actually. I quit donating because I'm so hard to stick.

Hot toddy--honey, lemon, whiskey, and hot water.

Yes ma'am! We bought 10 boxes from our Brownie. Fortunately, we also have a teenage boy, so there's no chance of the cookies going to waste. I've been keeping myself to 5 cookies a day if I eat any.

I'm interested in this answer as well--my solution at this point is to load up on veggies and supplement (y'know, Metamucil), but there are probably better ones.

I have my guideline set at 20% of my daily calories, which is 85 grams (total, not net) with my calories set at 1700. This level works for me because I'm eating way fewer calories without feeling hungry. Higher carbs = hungry girl.

I had a chef friend whose co-workers recognized him as an alcoholic and spent months trying to convince him to quit. Then, when he did, they started making fun of him by calling him "Mr. Lemonade." Why? Because they were all alcoholics too. If you're getting a raft of *kitten* from the people with sh*tty habits, you're…

I'm also just getting started, but my diary is open. Add away!

I've decided against artificial sweeteners (except stevia) because the processed foods they come in tend not to be good body fuel. For your coffee, I think I'd go with regular half & half and a little stevia or natural sweetener.

Basically any dressing recipe that calls for mayo will be good with plain yogurt in it. Full fat or lowfat regular yogurt works better than Greek, in my experience (there will still be a lot less fat than bottled dressing), and nonfat yogurt just doesn't work at all unless you add some fat, like avocado or oil.

I did catering with a chef who had no problem giving his recipes out. When asked why, he said that people always change the recipe at home, so it will never taste the same. He put so much butter, cream, and salt in his dishes that they would never work for everyday eating.

Thanks for posting! Love this!

$410 per month, or $1.50 per meal per person for three big eaters. I did the "food stamp challenge" and found the budget to be totally reasonable, so I went with it. I can usually get any paper or cleaning products on that budget too. This means a lot of bulk buying, coupons, meatless meals, and strategic use of leftovers.

Chicken-fried steak and eggs with gravy and hashbrowns with pancakes on the side. And this is why I'm trying to lose weight ;)
