  • This is me in 2004!!!!
  • My doctor said that some of her colleagues keep their patients on Phentemine long term. She is a Bariatric Physician. Her preference is that I wean off of it though. I know a lot of people have gained it all back after getting to their goal weight. With diet pills or without. It's definitely scary to me, because I have had…
  • Thanks! I am scared about maintenance and weaning. More than anything, I think logging my food and exercise here is what is helping the most. I am afraid if I stop doing that, everything will go downhill.
  • I was a diet pop addict for years. I liked the kind with caffeine. I feel better not drinking it; that kind of tummy bloating feeling. I replaced the addiction to pop with an addiction to black tea ;)
  • Thank you! I am five feet and one half inch tall. It wasn't my all time high, but 162 is where I started in February. I am 122 now.
  • Wow! Fantastic :). I just posted here http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10000619/before-and-after. I am 5 feet and 1/2 inches tall. That 1/2 inch counts ;)
  • How about now?
  • Stogie, all I can say is "huge" congratulations. I'm just so pleased and impressed at what you have done! It inspires me to stay healthy. June.
  • I agree about the cheat meals. Spend all week planning what you are going to have your one cheat meal a week. Nope. I just eat the same way every day. Unless I am going out to a restaurant and having something I don't usually have. Like Chicago pizza! What can I say, I live in Chicago. I don't go out to restaurants very…
  • Maoribadger, maybe because you have been working out the whole time, you won't get the saggy baggys. FIngers crossed. But Franci... you too? Here's what I am doing so far, I have no clue if it will work or not. I am trying to eat more protein. Not doing so well at that, but I am trying. The exercises I have started doing,…
  • It's definitely worked for me. I started taking it seven months ago at 162 pounds, 5 foot 1. I am now 120 pounds. What will be a challenge for me is keeping up the healthy eating and exercise habit. My doctor is weaning me off, over six months. Rather than abruptly stopping it. It makes sense to me. I want to keep the…
  • That's really interesting! I love these replies. For cardio, I do Zumba because I love it. I think I am addicted!! I go twice a week. We incorporate a few strength moves with it, some lunges, some arm work. I Interesting about working out with weights every 48 to 72 hours. That does make sense. I have been doing every day…
  • This is really encouraging :) I wish there was a Like button! I don't want surgery. I always think about the morticians snickering at wrinkly old bodies with perky breasts and flat tummies. So I guess I am not the only one concerned about this. I am really excited to wear a small size. It will be a challenge to not gain…
  • My teacher said she tried a monitor a couple of times, and she does burn that much. But she literally flies across the room. I estimate I burn about 500.
  • I have learned so much from you. I am about 5 from starting maintenance. You all validated that what I am doing is right. I eat the way I want to eat. I eat only the foods I like. Lots of fruit, vegetables, carbs in the morning, meat, fish, chicken at night and a couple of pieces of chocolate. Lately I have been told by…
  • Wow!!!!!! That is truly amazingly fantastic. It must be wonderful to be able to tuck in your shirt. And you have a small waist! You look great.
  • What you said, is you don't enjoy it. I may be simplistic, but my feeling is only do exercise you enjoy, or you may start to resent it. I love Zumba; yes, I get sweaty and winded, but since it's fun for me I don't mind that stuff. I have tried the Tabata workouts, and I'm thinking they are similar to HIIT, if that is what…
  • ;) The sheep will get sheared; I like that. I kind of understand the carb thing though. The human race hasn't been eating refined carbs all that long. Just since civilization, and the need to feed so many people did we eat so much grain.
  • I gained a lot of weight with my kids, too, and I was back to a Size 7 within a few months. And wearing a bikini, for Pete's sake. I wouldn't have believed it but I saw a picture of myself in a bikini. When I was in my twenties and thirties it was easy to get back in shape after pregnancy. Somewhat. I never exercised. Now…
  • I applaud those of you that have had a drastic weight loss. How good that must feel! I started out smaller. 162 pounds, 5'1" on a good day. My skin reminds me of my grandmother's skin. Like crepe. Little wrinkles on my legs and arms. I am 61. I never had this kind of wrinkly skin before. 36 pounds in 5 months. That would…
  • Since I have lost all this weight, I notice my skin looks wrinkly on my legs and my arms. It's not that much weight, but I guess it is a lot for me. I am not very tall. I lost 36 pounds in 5 months, bringing me to 126. I am a good size, but the crinkly stuff needs to go away! I can't lift that heavy yet. I have back…
  • I can understand your feeling about diet and exercise being all that is needed. That is the truth, you are 100% correct. But it kind of reminds me of an investment banker that I asked to explain stocks to me. He said "Buy low, sell high," I had a doctor that said "You should cut down your calories and exercise more." I…
  • I think half a pill is good; my doctor wanted me to start out on half. I found that I had trouble sleeping in the beginning, too. It only lasted a few days for me. If it were me personally, I would talk to my doctor about it if it lasts another week or so.
  • You are my hero! You are right about people being so nasty here; I have been on lots of other forums. I have never seen people pick other people apart like they do here. One thread I started, people were so mean to me that I had to ask a moderator to delete the thread. You have done so well. I am thrilled for you!
  • I am glad we have this support, too. It really helps me! There also is a private, very selective, small Facebook group, where none of your friends will know you are in the group. If you are interested, you can message me. I had that happen too. It was when I took Phentermine previously. I would get very nervous and jittery…
  • Very good advice, Catnips. I think that is true with any diet though. It is so easy, once we start eating what we think is "normally", it is like the pounds have a little memory bank, and all they want to do is come back, and bring their friends with them. It's not just with Phentermine, it's any diet, then going "off" the…
  • It's great that you are working on this! My sister is very overweight. She had to have a knee and a hip replaced. She is diabetic. The difference between her and you, is that you are trying to make a difference, and get healthy habits. Sadly, my sister has not tried to lose weight. She is my big sister and I love her…
  • My doctor cuts her patients dose down gradually over six months. I did have that happen when I was getting the prescriptions from my family doctor. He didn't tell me what to do. I would stop taking the Phentermine, and be really hungry all the time. Now finally, I am seeing a bariatric doctor. I go see her once a month,…
  • The prescription stuff works. My guess is that the over the counter stuff is either dangerous or doesn't work. I have been going to a bariatric physician since February. So far, I lost 33 pounds in 5 months. I use prescription diet pills. Plus I log all my exercise and food here.
  • I did it a long time ago. I would like to get back into it slowly again. I suppose there are apps for it now? How do you guys do it?
