  • What would make YOU happier? Going on another date with him or not? Decide on that basis. You are now still practically strangers and don't owe each other anything yet. I would go out with him. Sounds as if you would enjoy his company, and he would enjoy yours. You pick the place, and split the bill.
  • I am an on and off user as well, and also getting nowhere. Today, I am exactly 6 months away from my 40th birthday, and I want to be skinny by then! Is 1200 not too low for you? I'm 5'2, About 150 pounds, sedentary lifestyle and even find 1200 quite difficult to adhere too. Only when eating high volume, high fibre foods, I…
  • I am exactly the same, even the same height, not the same weight yet, but closing in fast if I don't take control fast. I get startled when I see pictures of myself, and am puzzled at why yet another of my clothes doesn't fit anymore. I do not go shopping, because i hate The reality of my dress size. I am not the best one…
  • i think it might be true for natural foods. I will never overeat on broccoli, but crisps..... I easily eat a family bag of those in one sitting.
  • You will, I am about the same height (158 cm) and unfortunately maintain at 1590 kcals. I aim between 1300 kcal and 1450 kcals and about a month away from BMI 24! at 1200 kcals, I kept quitting, and now that I Allow myself more, some days I end up eating only 1200 kcals anyway.
  • Banana pancakes, oatmeal made with soy or nut milk, smoothies.
  • But it is so unfair, isn't it? Only after coming to MFP I understood why my husband gets to stay skinny and I don't. If I ever reach my goal weight, I will only be allowed 1450 kcals at maintenance! So unfair! I do plan to let this go after my eightieth birthday though, so it is not 1450 kcals a day for life.
  • Am drinking one at the moment: coconut milk, spinach, orange, banana. My kids had strawberries, Peach, milk, vanilla Sugar.
  • Yes, I couldn't find her/him either. Agree with @CurlyCockney though. I stick to a new diet or fitness regime for about 1 week max usually. I now just log whatever I eat, and gradually got used to eating at a deficit. No lifestyle change yet, can't stick with it anyway.
  • Have a lollie pop. Between 50 and 100 kcals and it will last you more than 5 seconds!
  • yes you can, if you consider having energy as a subjective feeling, as OP ment. A meal rich in vegetables leaves me feeling more energetic than a higher calorie burger and fries meal...
  • Just be carefull when going very low carb. I ended up in hospital 6 weeks into a very high protein, very low carb diet I bought off the internet. They thought I had a stroke! (I didn't, just made a fool of myself from being low on sodium and potassium). Perhaps consult a doctor about this radical change in diet. I am for…
  • I struggle with motivation as well, but since two weeks, I am focusing on Discipline rather than Motivation. Be my own strict school nun (or whatever imagery would help). That, and I decided upon a smaller deficit. So, even if I don't want to do my homework/study/tidy my room..., I must - even if I do not want to stay…
  • I had a wonderfull three course dinner at a restaurant yesterday evening, drank the wine and ate the Bread too. I planned for it by drinking only homemade soup for the entire day. It was worth it, only 200 gram weight gain this morning, which I am sure has more to do with water retention than actual gain. Not sure whether…
  • No! For what reason? If it is to speed things up, know that there is no rush. Unless you have a medical reason to lose fast, try losing slowly. Or you will probably end up losing the same weight over and over again.
  • Hey! That's not nice! (Sensitive about my size and age) I don't like 1200, aiming for 1300 now. Unfortunately, at goal weight, my maintenance will be 1450 kcals, so I try to not go over that on weekends, but not there yet....
  • It might be, my jeans no longer hurt. I refuse to buy bigger sized clothes, so i look rather silly. About 10 pounds lost since March and still wearing the jeans that are too tight for me. Perhaps by the end of the year they'll fit.
  • Belgian, you can add me, but bear with me, I am no very good at this. Keep messing up on weekends...
  • I agree on the pepermint taste. I drink peppermint tea to keep me from snacking. I think the warm feeling in the stomach also satisfies me.
  • I have two. I treated myself to one of those scales that measure body fat percentage etc... about two years ago, even though my old one was not broken. The damn thing is a bully, it called me obese to my face. I keep it locked up in a dark cupboard since then. If my other one ever breaks, I will buy an analogue one, where…
  • See a hypnotist. Peanut butter does not taste THAT good. It is not speculaaspasta (Belgian cookiebased spread, Conquering the USA now, apparently)
  • I suffer from lack of motivation as well, but am trying something new now: Discipline rather than Motivation. I read it in a thread last week. There was a user who commented on a post here and said that discipline is key. That stuck with me, and now I am trying discipline over motivation for a month. I often don't feel…
  • Patience! and have you thought about TOM? Mine just passed, and got a pleasant scale result this morning!
  • I read a random reply in the forums the other week that stuck with me. I do not remember who wrote it, or in what context, but it stuck by me, I am now trying to follow it for the entire month of September, hoping that it will change something fundamentally in my brain: It is not so much about finding your motivation, as…
  • Mum of three as well here, and also a seasoned dieter. I am challenging myself to a month of eating at a small deficit, starting tomorrow. Hope i'll make it this time. September is a very busy month as it is. I'll base my meals on vegetables, so that I can eat big volumes.
  • Is the amount of calories needed for maintaining at your goal weight higher than at your current deficit? ( for me it is, MFP currently suggests 1200 kcal for a 450 kcal deficit, at my goal weight, maintaining will be at 1450 kcal). In that case, I would up my intake but no higher than my maintenance amount of kcals at…
  • I definitely think it is because of the meds, my physically active, skinny younger brother was put on medication a year ago with the well-known Side -effect of no longer feeling satiated. He is now considered obese, still active, but he just does not stop eating. People are startled at how fast he keeps Gaining. If you are…
  • I have about the same stats: extremely sedentary, exact same height, but 66 kg this morning, so overweight category. I think 1200 kcal is very hard to stick to, and so I keep falling off, though it is not even a 500 kcal deficit. Yesterday I decided I will aim for 1450 kcals from now on, which will be my maintenance level…
  • I have the exact same going on right now. I was given anti-inflammatory medicine by the doctor last week, had my first session with an osteopath last Friday, who gave me some specific stretching excercises to do at home. Three times a day, at least for six weeks. He also asked me to get an analysis done of how I distribute…
