I was in a similar situation: long, intense workouts (2x day), eating nutritiously, and counting calories, but losing weight very, very slowly. I went to my Dr and nothing was wrong. It's really frustrating and I feel your pain. I eventually burned out, and stopped altogether, and then regained weight. I've now restarted,…

I usually alternate between 3 pairs of running shoes a training cycle. Usually to prolong their life, so that I can wear a pair of shoes that are broken-in but not worn out for a goal race. Usually it's two different models of shoes (Brooks Glycerine and Sacuony proride, I think), but I just added a Nike model to the mix.…

Congrats! Well done.

I have my HRM set at my goal weight. I assume that these things will always overestimate calories and this is my way of adjusting. I also subtract ~90cal/hour from my workouts to take into account what I would have burned just sitting there.

Congrats!

I used to be a really picky eater too! It took a while but I've worked past some of my picky-ness. I tried to identify what it was exactly I didn't like about a certain food. For example, eating baby spinach, especially raw, made me gag. I finally realized it was the stems and the size of the leaves. So for a while I would…

Yes, like the other posters said, your sore muscles are likely retaining water. So, drink lots of water but also some stretching may help with the stiffness.

Daphne broke my heart last night - she made such awesome progress last week and then to see her spiral into such an immature decision was painful. I think both she and her brother were treated poorly from the start, but I also think they reacted poorly. It would have been great to see either one of them rise above, and…

It said I was 28% bf. I think this is pretty low, but I think it's fine if used as a consistent measurement to gauge progress. I have been using the military calculation on fat2fitradio.com. But in a few weeks I'm going to do a bod pod measurement which measures air displacement, I believe, and is supposed to be very…

good job!

I love your enthusiasm!

This sounds amazing! I seriously love pickles, and eat hard-boiled eggs daily. I almost want to eat the entirety of my new jar of pickles asap just to try this right now. Also, I typically boil about 5-6 eggs at a time and eat one/day. I haven't had any issues with them going bad or anything.

You look fantastic! Congrats!

I don't understand this. Wearing cotton next to the sweatiest area ever is not at all hygienic; it holds the sweat next to the body so the funk can happen. At least workout pants (or undies) made from technical material wick the moisture away from the body and attempt to keep the funk-factory dry. But I don't think wearing…

I NEVER wear underwear while working out. I couldn't care less about panty lines showing, but why give myself any more opportunities for chafing?? I also couldn't imagine dealing with a wedgie while running. And I only grudgingly wear thongs to begin with so those are not an option either. Going commando is so comfortable!…

Nope, the two are not mutually exclusive at all. I'm steadily losing weight (1-2 lbs/week) while training for two upcoming half-marathons and some other races. I always eat back my exercise calories. But on long run days I don't usually eat all of them back, but mostly because I have a sensitive runner's tummy. But I don't…

When I first started running longer distances training for a half last spring, I would get stomach cramps during a run and had a few potty emergencies (runners trots hardcore). I had pretty bad cramps and had to visit the 'little blue house' during my spring race. I wasn't sure if it was related to hydration or fueling or…

I swim 1x week. I usually go for 45 minutes and do at least 1 mile. I find it to be a great complement to running. It's calming and feels great to get a decent work out while being gentle to my body. Most of the time I'm working on endurance so I try to do long, slow sets. But I do throw in some speed drills to get my…

Exactly.

It's a personal preference - I used to weigh and measure myself sporadically but recently started weekly weigh-ins, which I'm finding really helps me stay focused and on track. But measurements are really much more encouraging!!!! BUT, I'd suggest for you to use measurements and pics for the time being, and maybe your gym…

Hey there! I'm Katie, I'm 33 and in my last semester of a phd program. I've been on mfp for almost a year and have lost 30#, but am about 50# below my highest weight ever. I've been on a massive plateau since September so I'm hoping to kick it in to a new gear for the new year. I love running but have been battling…

I never knew so many ladies not only slept in bras, but felt so passionate about it! I don't really like bra's, I much prefer to go free-titty. The other day I went to the gym before work and forgot to bring a bra, and it was one the best days ever. My bra comes off as soon as possible. I'm really good at taking it off…

Exactly. I was working out 6-7 days/week, and varying my workouts: running, spin class, and elliptical/yoga (there was not much strength training though). But I've been experiencing a chain of injuries related to overtraining that have made me severely cut back my workouts since the beginning of november. I can't run - I…
