  • I can't get into your diary, but lack of protein can bring that on, along with not drinking enough water. I don't know what altitude you live at but here in the Rockies if your body gets low on fluids, dizzy ness along with headaches are common.
  • Depending what you're daily calories are, you may be able to cut a couple of hundred daily to start the scale moving, and if you can't do that, well then it's time to burn them thru exercise. Even walking burns calories.
  • I am 1230 and at goal weight now, and I keep my diary open. If you want to add me, feel free.
  • Welcome Karen, and how lucky you are to get forewarned on this horrible disease diabetes. And congratulations on your weight loss so far! My daughter is a nurse practitioner, and she's told me several times that losing the weight the key to keeping you healthy, and out of the type 2 diabetes. Yes, it's hard to lose weight.…
  • Jazzercise classes.
  • Everyone's feet are different. The best thing to do is go to a running store, and let the salesperson watch you walk around to see how your foot pronates, and then they'll be able to recommend several brands that you can try on. Paying a lot of money for a running shoe that won't work for you is no fun.
  • Jazzercise, the one and only total body one hour workout.
  • 8 oz glasses x 8 = 64 oz.
  • Well not unless you plan on eating Steak for breakfast, you're not going to get rid of carbs during the day. Carbs are an anytime food. It doesn't matter what time of day you eat them. A calorie is a calorie regardless if it comes from carrots or cookies, protein, fat or carbs.
  • Walk into the gym like you own it, go over to the weight machines and do it. No one is watching you, or cares. If you're doing something wrong, someone may say something to help you along the way.
  • We can't give up everything. The other day I had to have a 2 piece spicy chicken at Popeye's. That was lunch meaning dinner had to be very very light. Cereal.
  • I certainly hope that all this effort to lose weight and get in shape is a lot more important to you than what ends up to be a 25 minute ceremony out of one day in your life.
  • It's always a love, hate relationship with the scale but a very necessary relationship indeed.
  • Cardio doesn't make you fat eating too much does. If you're eating back burned calories, and because MFP, and your treadmill is telling you that you burned XYZ calories, you could very well be overeating your workouts which will make you bigger or fatter as you put it. All of these devices including MFP have a history of…
  • Flexibility and core strength are always good.
  • At your age you don't want to ever hit a 170 heart rate level. I used to get up to that in my 30's and that was considered my maximum limit. Over 170 is not good for anyone. There are maximum heart rate calculations on the net that will calculate where you need to be for your maximum, based on your age. So obviously you're…
  • We use weights, bands, balls and do floor exercises to work core strength in Jazzercise class, which is very similar to Zumba, as far as the dance cardio. It works, so I would assume that a Zumba toning tape would probably be about the same.
  • If you don't like to run, then don't. There are many other things you can do to burn fat. Endurance in any exercise program comes slowly. Your muscles have to adjust to it, then once they adjust to it, your heart and lungs aren't so busy trying to get blood to those areas. Try several different things. It can be sports, a…
  • As long as it fits into your MFP daily calories you're fine.
  • I am usually not hungry for breakfast, but when I am I am eating the same things as you, but I may put a banana in my Rice Krispies.
  • People work out because they like to stay fit. No one has to exercise to lose weight. It's really funny that your co-worker asked such a silly question.
  • Well I don't do any of that, but welcome to this board.
  • What is calorie king? On MFP we have over a million food database, which includes fast food. It's so easy to look up and see how many calories your consuming, plus you can add in exercise and all the math is done for you.
  • If you're not eating much when you're alone, you're making up for it when you're with him. I used to be the same way with my now 44 years together husband. I was single and worked and didn't eat a lot on the weekdays, but when we got together on weekends it was feast time. I was so hungry by the time Friday night came…
  • It's another word for punt. Meaning I have nothing to say at this time but I did read the post.
  • I think estimates of calories burned on machines are about the most inaccurate of all. You don't enter your weight or your age. They don't ask are you sedentary or active, they just spill out a number of calories burned after so many minutes on the machineagig. Ignore them. MFP also has a history if overestimating calories…
  • Just starting out you're going to feel lots of things. You're going to feel muscles you never knew you had. This is typical with any new exercise you do, and regardless of great shape. Your muscles and joints are going to talk to you. As far as numbness, make certain you're wearing the correct running shoe for your foot.…
  • You have to like what you're doing in order to stick with it. Someone going to a gym that gets bored with machines, isn't going to last long. Racquetball is FUN. To some playing basketball is FUN. Others love to swim, and many love to run. If they didn't like it there would be no point in sponsoring marathons, no one would…
  • You have to heel up before you exercise, otherwise you'll just make it worse. Meaning stay off your foot, other exercises could be upper body weight training and swimming which would be low impact on your foot.
  • It's Jazzercise for me. I have been going for decades because it's FUN. All women, so you make local new friends, get to socialize, and work out together. Jazzercise is the only one hour total body workout around. 40 minutes dance aerobics, last 20 minutes, weights, bands, balls, and floor exercises to work all the problem…
