I have a sweet tooth too. What works for me is planning for one treat a day, and then choosing it consciously. This makes me say no to some treats (office or elsewhere) and yes to the one I really like. Say 200 extra calories. Budget that into the day. What works for me is logging all my meals beforehand and then if I have…

Thank you. I use my spiralizer sometimes to swap out half my pasta (spaghetti or linguine works best) and use zuchchini noodles. This is an interesting take, and 19g of protein. I have never used nutritional yeast. I am a vegetarian.

Salad made of: a cup of arugula, cup of spinach, 5-6 sliced grape tomatoes, half a cucumber, half avocado, generous sprinkle of grated cheese, half cup cooked quinoa, salt and pepper, drizzle of balsamic vinegar and olive oil. This plus one warm pita and hummus. Half a mango with a couple of tablespoons of vanilla ice…

Won't totally give up anything. Will reduce quantity or frequency maybe. I track macros, and if I go over I try to exercise more over the weekend.

I agree with the Meetup strategy. Try to find a hiking group (if that is your hobby) or another group that shares your interests. Also I recommend Jazzercise as a mood booster - you exercise with a group to popular music and its a cool way to increase fitness and improve mood. There are many Jazzercise locations around the…

2 tablespoons chia seeds soaked overnight in half cup of almond milk (stir well). Next morning, top with banana and plenty of berries. Filling breakfast. You can also make a variation with chia and whole rolled oats soaked in almond milk overnight. Then add fruit in the morning. Alternatively: 1. Toast topped with sliced…

My Ah-ha moment was when LDL cholesterol went up to 159 (healthy level is below 100); 159 put me in risk for heart attack. Also A1c level went to a pre-diabetic level of 5.9 (healthy level is below 5.7). Decided to drop pounds and regain health, and started MFP. I had had a previous MFP start but I had given up midway. I…

That's awesome!

Sugar is my weakness too, so you are not alone. I started MFP because blood sugar went to prediabetic levels. You can do this! Just make sure to log all the calories you plan to eat for the day BEFORE you eat them and then tweak portion sizes based on how many calories. Add some exercise so that you can eat the foods you…

Lack of fiber, lack of nutrients except for protein and fat - if whole eggs, very high dietary cholesterol; if only egg whites, more lack of nutrients except for protein.

Pita toasted with lots of olive oil to keep it soft; hummus; hard-boiled egg; cut fruit; yogurt - all packed in a cooler with an icepack.

If the cooked oatmeal's texture puts you off, you can try refrigerator oats. Oats + milk/almond milk/soymilk + raisins/dates left to sit overnight in fridge. Add nuts or other toppings in the morning and enjoy cold.

As another poster said, One a Day helps a lot. Also, I have read that iron-rich vegetarian sources like Spinach need to be paired with something high in Vitamin C to be absorbed better. Such as baby spinach tossed with tomatoes or mandarin oranges/clementines + feta cheese in a salad, with some toasted pecans, add a…

I'm a vegetarian, will send you a request.

Wash a cup of brown rice, and soak it in 2.5 cups of water for an hour. Then use a rice cooker. Soaking is needed to soften the rice else it comes out stiff.

You are incredible....and a wonderful inspiration! Sending good thoughts your way for rapid healing and for beating cancer.

1. Baked sweet potato 2. Carrots finely grated and added to pasta sauce 3. Spaghetti squash baked and eaten with pasta sauce like regular pasta 4. Baked butternut squash made into a creamy soup 5. Grilled asparagus with cheese and a touch of balsamic vinegar 6. Try different cuisines and see if you like the taste of…

Whole fruit is much better, and adds more nutrients. Juicing versus smoothies - smoothies. You get the whole fruit with a smoothie; but you have to add some type of sweetener for it to taste good.

One boiled egg and chia pudding = today's breakfast Chia pudding recipe: Chia seeds, 2 tablespoons 3/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk Add chia seeds to almond milk and stir for 2-3 mins. The seeds start to absorb almond milk. When it starts to thicken, cover and refrigerate. Next morning, it gets the texture of…

Your diary seems reasonable. You might want to check your thyroid levels.

Can use in an omelette recipe. Finely shred cabbage, beat with eggs, salt, some turmeric or curry powder, and cayenne pepper, maybe some chopped cilantro. Make like a regular omelette.

Hi, Sorry to hear about your injury - sounds painful. You might want to look up exercises that don't strain the leg or knee. Swimming or gentle walks, maybe? Water aerobics I'm told don't strain the knee. Also ab work generally means lying down and doing crunches so that won't hurt knees. Found one link:…

Go for the Roti (whole wheat bread) instead of naan. Vindaloo is ok as someone said here, as also tandoori chicken or chicken tikka if you eat meat Stay away from anything with "kofta" in the name and anything with a cream sauce Plain lassi (no salt, no sugar) is healthy - it is basically whipped yogurt so it fills you up…

If it is the sweet taste and you don't like drinking plain water, try water or plain soda with a splash of juice. Reduce quantity of juice until you're comfortable just drinking water. Water with a squeeze of lemon, some hand-crushed mint leaves and ice tastes good!

Hi, One of my friends has RA and says the following help for him: gluten-free diet, lots of vegetables and fruits in diet, and elimination of added sugar (raw honey and crushed dates are ok as sweeteners). He says especially the cutting sugar helps a lot. He also avoids dairy. So his diet is meat, along with gluten-free…
