Same here. 18 months ago I could barely walk up a flight of stairs, my knees hurt so much, you could hear them creaking for every step. 8 months of strength training has changed that drastically. Occasionally when there is rain or extreme cold temps coming, my knees get achy, but the difference is night and day to what I…

You all rock, thank you

Unless i'm there late a night, i've never been the only woman in the weights section of my gym. There are alot of women into lifting in my town.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm not doing SL 5x5, i'm doing ICF, if that matters. It may not be best practice, but i'd rather complete all the squat reps, with one at a slightly lower weight, for a few days, then to just stop when form breaks down. I'm assuming this will only last a little while until I can complete all 5…

Work with what MFP tells you. People that are at 1200 calories (like me) are shorties. older, or likely don't have alot left to lose. MFP is set up to eat back your exercise calories. If you work out alot, you need to fuel your body to support those workouts. I strength train 4-5 times a week. If I were to not eat back…

Ok, thanks! I'll deload that last set when my form starts to breakdown.

what program have you been following so far?

Hi, welcome. So much great help and info on the boards. Feel free to add me if you'd like additional friends/support.

I go at night after I get my 3 kids to bed. Sometimes I can squeeze it in during my lunch hour, but night is usually best for me. I work all day, and want to spend the evenings with my kids, so after their bedtime is my best time to go.

I think you just need to find something you really enjoy. Then you really miss it if you have to skip it for some reason.

Yes, Southern Ontario here.

It can be done. Be patient with yourself. Don't expect the weight to just fall off after a couple of weeks or months, it takes time. Take baby steps, work on improving one thing at a time. Don't quit when you've had a bad day or week. Just get back to tracking and eating healthy. I often go to the success stories board…

You hear so many different things, its hard to know whats valid or not. I've heard this is BS, and as long as you get your recommended protein intake in during the day, that's all that matters. Which is right? As for eating before or after, try both and see what works best for you. I tend to prefer after, unless I go hours…

I work full time and have 3 kids. I go to the gym either during my lunch break if I can fit it in, or at night when I get my kids to bed. I've also tried to incorporate activity into time with the kids. I go with the kids on bike rides, pulling my toddler in a bike trailer, or go for walks and push her in her stroller. I…

Amazing, you look great. Such an inspiration.

Mom to 3 kids, all 3 born via c-section. I'm still a work in progress. SW 224 lbs, CW 164.8. GW 137 (will re-evaluate once I get to that point) <-- Before pic, and relatively current pic (taken about a month ago) I work full time, but squeeze in work out time either over my lunch break, or I go to the gym at night when I…

I've had 3 c-sections, and my pouch is much, much worse than this. It will never go away on its own, I'd need surgery to correct it. There is nerve damage there for me as well - no feeling at all in that area.

Take baby steps. As the others said, don't try to jump into everything at once. Start with tracking your food, then start restricting your calories to fit into your calorie allotment, then start tackling increasing activity once you got a handle on eating properly. Good luck. You CAN do this. Just be patient, and stick…

You can't spot reduce. If you could, my legs and stomach would be rockin' right now. But unfortunately there's still quite a layer of fat over them, that has to come with deficit and fat loss.

I was doing stronglifts for about 5-6 months, but got bored with it, so I switched to Ice Cream Fitness. Liking it so far as it has more types of lifting incorporated in it. Do some cardio, as cardio has it's own benefits. But definitely lift as well.

One thing i'd like to point out. A coworker of mine used hers at work for many months, and loved it. But had to give it up, due to insurance/liability reasons. If you work in an office environment, you may want to check with HR or office management, to make sure that it is ok to use. There may be issues if you were to fall…

You look amazing, great job!

My watch is now too big. Plus my wedding ring is now too big. I went several years not able to wear it, because it was too small, and now I might have to get it made smaller because it's almost slipping off my finger.

If you do stronglifts 5x5, you will eventually need it. To start, you'll squat with just the bar, and gradually add weights. Eventually the weight will get so heavy you can't lift the bar over your shoulders yourself, so the rack is used at this point. The rack holds the bar and you walk under it to get the bar on your…

Depends on what you want to do. If you want to get into squatting, you'll eventually need a squat rack or power cage. I have a bench/weights, but I don't have a squat rack yet, and it drives me crazy that I can do anything else at home, but can't squat (I could do the lift over the shoulder to a certain weight, but now i'm…
